- Did you know that you can use a 2" facing as a binding? In this video, we will demonstrate how to use a 2-inch facing tape as a binding (folded over an edge for a finished 1-inch wide binding on both sides). A facing tape is a manufactured piece of canvas or vinyl that has its edges folded under to equal a 2-inch finished tape. It is typically aligned flat along a fabric panel's edges, then bound with a separate piece of binding for a finished-looking edge. On the underside of this 2-inch facing are two hems one on each side, one is about 1/2 wide and the other is about 1 inch wide. The one-inch flange is used as a reinforcement for fasteners which may be installed along an edge of a fabric panel. Or if a zipper is used, instead of fasteners, this 1-inch hem gives the zipper a nice-looking flange that looks finished both outside and inside the flange. In this tutorial video, we will show how to use the Sailrite® 2-inch Swing Away Binder to sew facing as a binding.

Good stuff. Keep it coming! Waiting on a big sale on leatherworker set up.
Thanks for the support! I'll definitely keep the content coming. Hopefully, you'll find some great deals on a leatherworker set up soon.
I need to try that with my binders and see if that works. Also i have a industrial walking foot straight stich machine. Would that be enough for sewing and repairing sails?
It may be enough depending on the weight of the sail fabric used and the size of the walking foot machine. Traditionally most sails are sewn with a zig-zag stitch, but for repairs you could use a straight stitch machine, yes.
I would like to see it running 2" webbing (seatbelt). I might buy one if it ran it smoothly.

What I really need is a 4 inch binder. Got any plans to make one?
No, sorry.
Is this binder only for industrial machines?
No, this binder can be used for both industrial and domestic machines. If your machine has two threaded holes to the right of the presser foot for accessories, it should work.
Hey Eric do any of the binders fit a Consew 226 by chance
If your sewing machine has two threaded holes to the right of the needle in the needle plate or the casting for attachments, then yes it will work.
@@SailriteDIY mine has that plate over the bobbin so I may be outta luck
Do you do layaway payment programs?! 🤔
Sorry, we do not. Use a credit card, it is like a payment program, but with high interest if you do not pay if off. Sorry!
@@SailriteDIY Thanks, it is okay.
