      PhotoRec TV wow that was great, I loved it. I have a Canon t5i. How much would it cost to buy all of the accessories to film that.

      I’m more inclined to prefer people who do this without this gear and from old fashioned way. I mean what’s the point to turn art into a single button press? You don’t have to do almost anything but colorize the liquid and place the flash..

    Just got my MIOPS splash kit yesterday and got my very first water collision photo in about 10 minutes after it was fully set up 😁. So stoked!!! Can’t wait to experiment more. Wish I could share my first results?

    Great video @PhotoRec TV! It looks like you are using a different mounting bracket than the one provided by MIOPS to connect the Splash to the Splash Kit holder. Will you share what you are using? I find the arm with the cell phone clip isn't as solid/sturdy as I would like.

    I have just bought the MIOPS splash kit. You say to put the camera in bulb mode. I have a couple of questions -
    1. my Fuji X-T3 flash sync speed is 1/250th second - should I still use bulb mode?
    2. If I should use bulb mode, how does the camera turn off - I thought bulb mode made the shutter stay open until you hit the shutter button again but you didn’t do this in the video. Or did you use a remote and I just didn’t see you do it.

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  4 роки тому

      You can use bulb mode or just set the camera for 1-2 seconds. The flash is what freezes the action.

    Love my Miops, great video. Have you had any luck with 3 or 4 drops? I've spent hours trying to add a 3rd no luck ;o(

      So it's not just me. I'm trying to get my head around the maths that the MIOPS does. You would think if the 2nd drop timing and delay is equal it should have a drop in the same relative spot but a different size droplet. But I can't get that happening, so the programming may be different to what common sense maths I would have presumed from the timer.

    I enjoyed the video :) I spent literally HOURS trying to get water droplet photos using a very manual process....fast speed light and burst shutter mode. I did get some good captures (single drop) but it took a lot of photos to get them lol!! I have now ordered the MIOPS splash kit and can't wait to try this again :). Not sure how to share photos on UA-cam?

    Congratulations on the video, really well done.
    I would have two wonders.
    1. Why connect the miop splash with the cable to the camera if the camera is set to bulb? .. would it be possible in case you can also check the camera shooting?
    2. Does the smartphone app work with any version of android?
    Thank you again and again congratulations.

    That kit does feel like cheating :D Very interesting how technology can help someone explore "splash photography", but I still prefer the older methods where one has to hold and squeeze the water dropper, as well the remote release shutter, it forces you to understand what is exactly freezing the motion, and the flash here is so important. I'm sure you've already seen Gavin Hoey's videos on this type of photography, but for anyone who hasn't I'd recommend it.
    Great video Toby.

    Great video! I have a question though, can't you just put the flash on top of the camera and not have to use two cables?

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  6 років тому

      Yes - BUT you then run into timing issues - it is the flash that really freezes this action and it should be fired independent of the shutter opening or closing.

      Miops is the original and Pluto actually copied their design and even copied the manual and left MIOPS name in the text. Embarrassing.

    What if you don't have bulb mode?

    • @photorectoby
      @photorectoby  6 років тому

      Are you sure you don't? set your shutter speed to 30 seconds and then turn the dial a little more. A "B" should appear . If you don't you can simply set a shutter speed of 1/2 to 1 second and that should capture the moment too.

    Pc flash sync connection (50 yr old tech) as the only interface for a modern device is a major flaw. Brand new, mine falls out or the socket. The camera cord is so short it's useless off the camera. This device cost way too much to have these problems, and half the functions are in my cameras anyway. I don't recommend this thing.

    Be careful using milk. I suggest skim and then running water through it. I had to tear mine apart because the milk clogged up the port inside the machine 😗😗

    Nice video with straight forward instructions on how to get started . My question is this....Does the MIOPS drip regulator have to plug directly to the flash? I have a Godox TT350s flash and I don't believe there is any place to plug in a communication wire. The flash is controlled by a XI TTL ( it does appear to have a mini USB socket) wireless transmitter sitting on hotshot of my a7RII . Can the MIOPS drop mechanism cable plug into that unit and then it controls the Flash. Never used this much equipment before and trying to make sense of compatibilities
    Thanks
