That line stood out to me for a long time and I agree most people miss it. Murphy was transferred from a relatively safe part of town (his supervisor notes that when Murphy first meets him), to one of the worst for no reason other than Bob trying to get him killed.
Makes you wonder if the previous cop that was murdered, can't remember the name off the top of my head, was a "prime candidate" as well. Just how many candidates did they go through before Murphy was the perfect one?
When RoboCop was first shown on British TV back in the early 1990s, they kept most of the violence intact but dubbed a lot of the strong language. 'Bastard' suddenly became 'blaggard' - but even more amusingly, Dick telling Bob that he once used to call The Old Man an asshole was changed to 'airhead'. Despite having seen the film many times over the years, I still find myself laughing at that scene because of that one-night-only ridiculous change.
LOL okay so around the same time, when they would play Die Hard 2 on TV they kept the Yippy-kai-yay but instead of "motherfu*ker" they changed it to "Mr. Falcon". I can not laugh every time I watch Die Hard 2 and that part plays.
Can't forget the 'Funky Pete' scene in "Shaun of the Dead" lol.. Saw that in the bonus material on the DVD, but also I'm pretty sure it was the version airlines were using for the in-flight version of the movie.
The data interface murder-spike is pretty funny. "Should we go with Micro-USB, USB-C, or maybe some of those RCA jacks for his data interface?" "No, let's just use a BIG METAL SPIKE THAT COMES OUT OF HIS HAND!" "Uh, you okay this morning Dave..?"
I picked up this line myself, admittedly after many viewings. One of my favourite movies, but yes pretty brutal and to be honest a lot of people I know missed his indifference about Kinney's death too. Actually makes his death more satisfying too.
The complete lack of care from everyone in that room when Kinney bites all the bullets is both comedic and haunting. Just another day at the OCP office I guess lol. But that one line opens up just how evil OCP is. There is no depth to which they will sink to make a buck.
Capitalism in a nutshell. Defund government, privatize it, figure out ways to cause chaos and then profit off of solving the ensuing problems caused by defunding the government. What did you think the purpose of tax cuts are for people who are already extremely financial secure?
Interesting take. That isn't a throw-away line. It's why Murphy is there; it's probably why he died. *gasp* He was chosen like Neo! IT ALL MAKES SENSE! . . . . . . no it doesn't. everything sucks and nothing matters.

I actually have a new found appreciation for this film after this video
Well I’m excited for this one
There is no way I talk smack about Det-riot in this video
I honestly never caught the fact Bob Morton is flooding cops into bad areas to get the RoboCop project off the ground. 🤯
RoBobert is a massive dick but honestly RoboCop should be thanking him
He says it in the film that theyve been strategically placed in prime locations?!
🤩🤣🤣 shot 197 times and somebody's calling a medic 🤣😂😂😂😂🤪🤪! Great video! Great observation!
[Murphy's limbs are hanging by a thread] "Are you okay?"
This movie brings back fond memories. Thanks for those Deets!! 👏
I love these little details that seem like they are throw-aways but actually mean worlds.
Smash that Like Button... aggressively.
Listen to RoboBlBuildy or there will be...trouble.

Bless the 10th smash week
RoboCop probably smashed Lewis in the refinery.
Your best thumbnail yet
You're a thumbnail.
I never actually thought about that!
When I caught it my mind exploded. Now you have to deal with whatever remains.

LOLOLOLOL "Data interface Murder-spike" is now what it's call. Its canon.
I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.
You gotta be some kinda great cop. Come in here all by yourself?
I bet that really pisses you off. You probably don't think I'm a very nice guy. Do ya?
Buddy I think your're slime!

Ronnie Ray-gun = Best laser president ever. God RoboCop is deeper than most people give it credit for.
Most people think RoboCop is all about cracking skulls but he's really looking for love.
This intro SLAPS
You SLAPS the like button right? That's the only way I'll know if the intro is good.
So true. Never noticed that.
It went over my head so many times. I love catching these small bits that add to a story.
Video cleared. Is Based. ✅
I was sweatin' that one
Clarence is the Father of DEI reform #FlyBobby
He overcame crippling haemorrhoids to become Detroit's greatest crime fighter. Respect.
He swung his prolapse around and knocked the gun out of the shooter's hand, how did nobody notice this?
@@CopaExMachina It's a mental block caused by PTSD. Has to be. 😂
Bob Morton made a mistake. Dick Jones aka Iron Butt made him pay for that mistake. How did I miss this Plot line after all these years?
DEEEEEEEEEEE-Troit!
Det-Riot?

I shared this with Roman’s Pacific Rim children….
