this is exactly how i felt about this video too!! i’d already been thinking about living for the day Troy would listen to one of Porter’s albums and it’s here 😭 i was sitting down eating my favorite food after a long ass day of work and i literally felt like i was gonna cry and give myself a nosebleed from how overjoyed i was. sharing music is one of my favorite feelings and it means so much when people actually have so much to say about how music makes them feel. so this just felt like i was sharing one of my favorite albums with one of my favorite people. it almost felt like i was listening to it for the first time all over again. i love how almost all the piano reminds me of studio ghibli ;-;

im so happy you chose to listen to this album. i love it so much. worlds was perfectly timed for my depression and existentialism. but this album was such a nice surprise during covid.

So first I want to add that "blossom" is literally titled for his wife/GF at the time, because her name is Rika, which is Japanese for blossom. And second there is a bonus track only released in Japan called Fullmoon Lullaby that is just absolutely amazing, and you should definitely listen to it.
To bring a little context into Look At The Sky of "I can make something good" and Get Your Wish's "So tell me how it felt, when you walked on water", Porter's genre defining Worlds album he released in 2014 was what he believed to be his peak. For the years following Worlds, Porter had a long streak of imposter syndrome where he felt like nothing he could make would match or be better than Worlds and he essentially fell into a writer/producers block over it which just puts a tidal wave of emotions behind these lines.
There’s a reason it’s my favorite album of all time man. You shoulda been there when it came out in 2021; such a perfect, impactful time
What an excellent review to an album that saved my life. Wind Tempos makes me cry every time, musicians lyrics defined me during COVID, and doremifasolatido has the best vocals I’ve ever heard. The greatest three track run in existence for me. Thank you HT for reviewing this glorious behemoth.

I love the contrast (whether intentional or not) between “Mother” and “Shelter”. “Mother” is a love song from a mother to her son while “Shelter” is a love song from a father to his daughter. A lot of parental love in Porter’s songs ❤

Worlds is my favorite album of his, it is a different sound then Nurture… but was groundbreaking for EDM at the time. Recommend it, 100%

Worlds is by far my favorite of the 3 albums, but each one came at a very different time in my life and they each mean so much to me.

I love this album so much. What’s super cool is that the higher tones voice that porter puts on was the inspiration for porters own Vocaloid that came out last year Po-uta. It’s so good

Wind Tempos is the song I listened to when planing my proposal to my wife. Then on the day… we drove to the venue, everything was perfect and went to plan!.. then in the car to the restaurant to see our families(also a surprise) we listened to the song again. That song is my happy song and choked me up every time. The piano with the silence is so innocent and beautiful and reminds me of the exact moments before I asked the question.
I am not kidding, I have been waiting for you to react to Nurture for the longest time. Its finally time!!

i loved your reaction. i am indeed sensitive to music and never found anyone else feeling the music like me until i went to see porter live and made a lot of friends. But you are just like me, we are musicians and we also let the music pierce our hearts so we feel different. glad i saw your channel because i cried with you and now i even understand things that i didn't before. your point of view was so pure and so accurate since you are a native english speaker. thank you for explaining some phrases and some methaforic content! that helps a lot. my mother tongue is spanish so there are things that i lose in translation. When he came to Chile he took my cellphone while i was recording in "musician" and dude....that touched my spirit because i've been struggling a lot with music. I'm now in therapy again trying to overcome my pain and free myself for what i want. thank you again

6:53 not only did it come out of covid, but also like a 6 year bout of writer's block where porter nearly thought about quitting music. I love the story this album tells, and being a fan of his for so long has been such a rewarding experience

God, idk why i stopped listening to this album, but hearing it again, for the first time in months, maybe years, all the memories of me breaking down to the tracks especially on Mother came to me like a whiplash. Now here I am breaking down again. Oh how i love music that moves me

There is so many thematic through lines I draw from the mother - dullscythe - sweet time that I can’t not see them as individual songs anymore. the leaving home and looking back at his parents and reminiscing the comfort his mother gave in mother, dullscythes chaos always makes me imagine like mental uncertainty, being stuck in your own head overthinking and worrying then near the end being pulled out into the comfort of the person you love with sweet time - the backing beat sounds like a heart beat too as if he is resting on her chest

I’m seeing him next month on my birthday and I’m so unbelievably excited. I’ve never seen him live before and I’ve been a fan since spitfire. Language is what really got me into EDM at a young age and I got to see it live at my first EDC this year. I’m so happy he’s doing a career spanning set list because Worlds and Nurture are two of my favorite albums of all time.

Listening to this album during the pandemic did wonders for my mental health, and I eternally thank Porter for making music that I will follow no matter where he goes with it. I went to his first live performance since the pandemic started at Second Sky, the first time I had ever really gone out since the pandemic started, and the closest thing I could describe it as would be akin to a religious enlightenment. Never had I shed so many tears with others who went through their own hard times, and seeing you react to this now reminded me a lot of how I felt back then.
Watching this video, I can tell that you are such a genuine person, carefully analyzing the lyrics and breaking it down from an emotional and technical level. Out of all of the reactions I've seen on this album, this one definitely takes the cake. Perfectly imperfect in your own unique way.

My favorite breakdown of dullscythe is that it represents art block. Trying, finding something, trying to make it louder, more complex, try to force it into making it louder, and then you have the latter half. The epiphany.
