In the future (the late 1960's), a crisis has hit the earth. Very few boys are being born. An American cybernetics operator and a Soviet scientist are teamed to see if they can conceive a male child on the moon. Reminds me of the Jerry Lewis, Anita Ekberg movie "Way Way Out", but we don't get much interaction between the two main characters of this story. And not to sound sexist, but it seems like a lack of child-bearing women would be more important a loss than the lack-of-men crisis depicted here. (from "The Critical X Minus One" by Jim Fanisher)
Credits (Goldin): Vilma Cure, Frederic Brown (author), William Redfield, Wendell Holmes, Roger De Koven, Leon Janney, Jack Grimes, George Lefferts (adaptor), Fred Collins (announcer), Charles Penman, Daniel Sutter (director), William Welch (producer)
I'm 75+ so it's been a long time, but as soon as I saw the title I knew I'd read "Honeymoon in Hell" as a teenager. The details were mostly forgotten but I remembered I hadn't read it in Galaxy but in a paperback collection of stories by Brown. Hearing it now, I see it's a better story than I remembered. My radio drama days were focused on CBS and I didn't even know X Minus One existed. I'm glad I've been allowed to discover it after all these decades. Thanks for these uploads!
Fantastic isnt it? The perfect escape!
This story is fantastic! The laydback voice of the pilot is perfect. Wish this could happen in reality!
Well is that the motive for the "Alien invasion " in our near hypnotic future ? Honorable
Great episode!
I love this one. It's one of my favorites.
Love this Series!
I love it's witty humorous twist of an ending. WAAH, WAOH WAOH!!!
Nice!👍♥️
Very clever
The Honeymooners retreat , sounds like a something on earth , from the wrong part of town , staff and all .
Thanks, I needed a laugh and that got a guffaw out of me! The "staff and all" line was what really broke me up😂
From the days when it was presumed that all SF stories had to be "wacky".
Maybe the wacky ones are the best ones 😄🙃😛🥸
Enjoyable story, but how was the computer able to hypnotize:anyone?
From the days when "computers" were the hot new technology and could do anything...sort of like "nanotechnology".
Sctewy story, but good.
Poor sound quality
This was the best available copy of this episode, at least as of the time of releasing this set in 2010. In our opinion, it is better to make it available for people to enjoy - even if the sound quality is less than ideal - rather than not posting so no one can listen to it.
Thanks 😊
I listened to it. And it was just fine. Actually good!
@@OTRR I listened to the show and the sound was great 👍🙏🏼😘
