    Sam, i watch lots of lawn care videos and find yours refreshing as you use the same tools as I have. I enjoy the professional boys videos as well but yours are a little different. Thanks for your content. 👍

      Hey Paul, this is such a great comment, this is exactly the point of the channel. I follow the big lawn care you tubers too, but sometimes they do things that are a bit over the top for me and use tools I can never get hold of, or spend the money on. So I'm really going for the Average Joe gardening, using "normal" tools & products to get a decent lawn pretty much. Thanks for watching Paul, really appreciate it. 🙏

    Another great video Sam ! I agree with your dislike for spreading the top-dressing, something I learned about from a "friend" who requested my help. He'd dump wheelbarrow loads all over his lawn, while another friend & I spread it around... In the rain ! Keep the videos coming, one of these days you'll have 100,000 subscribers, your American English is impeccable, and American viewers will appreciate it.

      Thanks Peter! Try it, it makes fixing patches alot easier, but just be careful it doesn't overgerminate in the wheelbarrow, it just needs to crack open and your good to go. Thanks for watching mate.

    it make sense to mix seed with soil. I though it should be in this way but I dont know why no one says so in other videos.

    I LOVE landscape, especially lawn care videos ! "I love a good mow" My brother, you are not alone, and it DOES put a smile on my face too 😁. My question; Your yard is beautiful !, so I'm wondering how areas of your lawn became so bare ? Keep these videos coming (your American English is very impressive)

      haha nice to know its not just me 😅
      I actually dug out some areas with a lot of clover, this was before the lawn nut days and other weeds just took over since i neglected the areas a bit. Herbicides are illegal to use in Sweden so digging them out when it gets bad is the only option for us. Some areas were deep areas that were just buried with the topdress when I leveled them, so I had to reseed those. Thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it a lot and thanks for watching dude 😄

      @@SamsLawn There are so many good videos on UA-cam, and a lot of great channels, which is why I don't want to subscribe to everything I watch. However, the channels that are about things I really enjoy... I subscribe to those. In 2016 I moved from my hometown of Seattle [Washington], and I bought a duplex 40 miles [64 km], to the south. I live in an older neighborhood (1920s), and when I bought my house (I live in one of the houses in my duplex), the entire front yard was one huge sea of a thorny evergreen, that was waist-high and smelled like pee. Today it's a beautiful lawn, and my neighbors all hate me 😁

    I like the wheelbarrow idea- much easier to keep the seeds moist until germination. So when seeds germinate you spread the soil/seed mix into bare spots and just roll it? Any covering over it?

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Рік тому +2

      Hey mate, thanks, it actually works great, no need to cover it or anything, the grass usually starts popping up a day or two after you put it out, depending on the weather, but it's really easy :)

    And one of your videos you mentioned a rake and a edger and something else that were interchangeable onto The same pole. I looked on Amazon and I could not find it. I think you called it a gardenia. But I am not sure. Can you tell me what it was called and if it can be found in the United States on Amazon? Thank you. And thank you for your videos.

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Рік тому +1

      Absolutely, it's called Gardena combisystem. Gardena is a bit pricy, at least over here, but they do hold up for a long time and I like the interchangeable system. Think it's available on Amazon.

    Can you make a take from where your left. And how you top dress when it’s start to germinate in the wheel barrel going forward. What I meant is part 2 thanks very informative.

    • @SamsLawn

      Hey man, thanks for watching, appreciate it. That was actually the plan but something happened to the footage, the file didn't work so I couldn't include when I showed the germinated seeds in the wheelbarrow. But I use this "trick" a lot so next time I 'll make sure to record it again :)

    did you use a shovel to get it out of the wheel barrow or by hand?

    • @SamsLawn

      Did it by hand, tried not to fill it upp too much, so I could just dump smaller piles in the areas I wanted to cover. 👍

    what about the grass seeds at the bottom of the barrel? It isn't getting any sunlight, and they say don't put grass seed more than 1/4 of the way deep. Do you still get good germination from the whole barrel?

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  2 роки тому +1

      Hey Jonah, good question, forgot to bring that up in the video. The seeds only need heat and water until they crack open, then they need sunlight. If you bury it too deep when putting it on the lawn, they cannot push through and get that sunlight. But in the wheelbarrow, just as they start to open up, I put it out on the bare spots and they are immediately exposed to sunlight. Has always worked for me, but you need to keep a close eye to see when they start germinating. Thanks for watching mate, appreciate it.

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  Рік тому

      For larger areas I use the hand held spreader, but for smaller patches I just do it by hand, or if the patch is close to an edge.

    for area with no leveling issues, can i just seeding without topsoil?

    • @SamsLawn
      @SamsLawn  2 роки тому

      I would put a thin layer on top of the seeds for better germination and to keep the seeds moist, trust me you will have far better germination. But of course you could just seed without topsoil, but run over it with a garden roller or your feet so you get good seed to soil contact
