I used this exact replacement flange. The one thing I would correct on the installation is you don't tap it down with a rubber mallet. You snug the flange and rubber gasket inside the waste pipe and then slowly rotate the flange clockwise and that's how the rubber gasket works it way upward to tighten itself inside the waste line.
I was scrolling down for this post 😂😂😂 no one else noticed. Killed the drill bit after first insert. I’m a plumber and he did a B+ job but you see the rookie come out of him here
You did a great job. I like how I explained it. Step by step and all the little things that come up are long installing or fixing things. Thank you for posting the video
Appreciate this video! I had to replace my toilet today (first time every doing this) and my closet flange was too high. Unfortunately, after I cut it off, i realized the existing concrete subfloor was chipped away quite a bit where the concrete fasteners were supposed to go, making the ones I bought too short to reach it. I suppose the proper way would be to pour a little bit of concrete, let it cure, and drill into the new material. However, I simply bought longer fasteners and was able to screw the flange in just fine. Glad I found your video - I didn't know about the twist-n-set flanges. It worked like a charm!

Two story townhome built by lennar homes. Bottom half bath had flange above tile floor. Toto Drake II toilet didn't like it. Then I discovered the flange wasn't screwed into ground, it was glued instead into the other pipe. Had to resort to using a glue gun and then pried it off. House projects never seem to go easy peasy and ends up being an all day learning experience.

Project completed, but considering some tweaks, like aligning the toilet better. Ended 2023 with a face full of tile dust. 🎉 Wrestling with my new Toto toilet made for an unexpected adventure. Dealing with a stubborn flange glued to the sewer pipe led to using a heat gun, saw, and creating a tile dust tornado - who knew plumbing could be so entertaining? 😅 My home projects always seem to involve multiple trips to Home Depot. Don't know what I would do without UA-cam to guide me. I used a leveler out of curiosity and noticed the tile floor wasn't perfectly level. Managed to remove the old flange with a heat gun, used a grinder to trim tiles, and a Dremel to cut away the inner sewer pipe. Though I didn't get the inner pipe perfectly flush with the surrounding tile, it seemed to pass the test. No wobbly toilet, securely fastened to the floor. Opted for 'Fluidmaster Better Than Wax' instead of a messy wax gasket; time will tell how it holds up. Previously used Danco Perfect Seal Toilet Wax Ring for another toilet replacement upstairs, where the flange was below the tile. It included a wax ring and was more forgiving than standard wax rings. One more toilet to replace in my kids' bathroom upstairs.

Good video. Was not aware you could break away that flange without damaging the main pipe. Was it just preference to use the rubber gasket flange VS re-gluing a new flange into the pipe?

Good morning ☕️ Is flange flush with floor? Is floor level? It’s very unlikely that the toilet is out of specs…shape-wise. Another cause can be that the toilet is ever-so-slightly offset when place into position on top of flange. Keep us posted.

Huge price difference between the gasketed flange and a typical glue-on flange.
Thanks for watching, which one did you end up going with?
An oscillating saw with a bi-metal blade would have made quick work if that pipe.
Thanks for watching, any & all helpful info is greatly appreciated. 😎👍
This is the second one for the basement bat. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOuLt8IL_GxhhaK8DBuKEL-zV0UJVpWZn , works great
Thanks for watching.
My flange is on top of the floor and the toilet still doesn't sit right
Good morning ☕️
Is flange flush with floor? Is floor level? It’s very unlikely that the toilet is out of specs…shape-wise.
Another cause can be that the toilet is ever-so-slightly offset when place into position on top of flange. Keep us posted.
Maybe an oscillating saw would be handy?
Good morning ☕️ it definitely may be. Thanks for watching. 😁👍
I hate my high toilet flange! Toilet always wobbles. I need to do this. Thanks for your video
You are very welcome, please keep us posted on your project. Thanks for watching. 😎👍
My dad wants to just drill into the flange and put screws into the floor to sableize it.
Feedback Please
It is a metal flange
Thanks for watching, these are pretty incredible adapters. It will ultimately be personal preference on what you do.
We have been very pleased with this install. 😁👍
@@DIYwithMichaelBorders I want it done correctly so I don't have to worry about it later.

Honestly, that’s the best approach. Ensuring that your plumbing is correctly done will alleviate loads of heartache as well as a heavy hit on the bank account in the future.

The very poor glue job on the pipe made this easy. If it was properly glued, removing the insert pipe would be almost impossible.

What about a metal flange?
Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. That will depend on who you ask.
You will get mixed reviews as some will say metal only creates rust and corrosion while others will say metal is the way to go.
Us... we do not use metal. Let us know if you have any questions, hope all is well with you and your family Brittney.
😎👍
You are not flush to the floor. Flush would mean at the same level, not surface mounted.
Good morning, thanks for watching & sharing this. To clear up any confusion, the underside base of unit/insert is flush, please let us know if you have any questions.
We DIYers need to stick together! Hope all is well. 👍
