On the day Whitney Houston passed away, Aretha Franklin had a private concert scheduled at the McGlohon Theater in Charlotte, North Carolina. Upon hearing the sad news of her passing, Aretha began her show with a tribute to Whitney by singing "I Will Always Love You."
ONE of the many things I loved about Aretha's singing is her phrasing.
You just know how much Whitney would've loved this 😭 ❤
Aretha turned that song into a euology and a home-going service ❤
These ladies are #1 and 2 on the greatest singers list of all time for a reason! Vocal standards! 💜
I miss both of them. It still feels unreal that Whitney has been gone for 12 years.
I can’t even imagine what was going through her mind. Watching someone you watched grow up and hit so many highs and lows and just go like that…
I’m almost in tears right now. A swonderful tribute to Whitney in the style that only Aretha would do and so effectively.
I've been looking for this for like 10 years. Someone uploaded this a few days after Whitney passed, and I had been playing it over and over for weeks. And then it was gone. Thank you for uploading it again.
My favorite performance of this tribute!
I'm not the crying type but sheesh this got me
when greatness touches greatness!
This was really good. I never saw the video. But, I remember she did a tribute. That's one of the things I miss about Aretha is the preaching in her concerts. No other R&B/soul singers do this.
Well her father was THE preacher of his day...so it makes sense
i miss them both so so much. i hope they’re both harmonizing in heaven right now ❤
😢Just beautiful.
I know Ree got alot of flack around this time, but this heart felt tribute made me cry ugly tears. The Queen saluting The Voice ❤
Daaaaaang I haven’t seen this in yeaaaaarrsss since Whitney passed. Aretha rocked tf outta this performance 🥹🥹
Areatha Can preform any where she's has greatness 🙌 👏 at all time's!!!!l
Im not crying. You are. 😢😢😢
This video should be titled "Aretha Franklin preaches about Jesus' love for Whitney Houston."
1:25 wow the queen acknowledged Whitney as one of the greatest singers
The actual Greatest singer to ever stand behind a microphone ( just my own opinion, not here to argue) calling Whitney one of the greatest to ever do it.
You don't want to argue but you want to say something wholly irrelevant. Got it.
@@rachybaby72 how come it was irrelevant? Me talking about her speech/ eulogy? Okay.
@EjayThomas You did more than just talk about her eulogy. You had to critique/grade it. Apparently, Aretha Franklin "didn't" do it right...
@@rachybaby72 oh honey, are you okay? Watch the video again and come back here. I just acknowledged aretha being THE Greatest to me, calling Whitney, ONE OF THE GREATEST. that's what she said, meaning she meant Whitney was among the greatest. You're the only negative energy here babes
Preach Aretha!
Beautiful and sad
Thank you for sharing this ❤
This hits the same as hearing Vincent Price describe Johnny Depp as "enchanting" y'know? ;) :chills: got me choked up, and feeling more respect for Aretha for that one (R.I.P. also
I love how she sang it her own way she gave a gospel rendition so stellar!
COME ON AUNT REE!
Preach !
Thank you ❤️🇧🇷
