@@VillageIdiotFs Discovered Rivers on Sirius XM Liquid Metal with their 1st album back in 2013/14. Have they ever gone on the show? Jose n the crew would love to kick it with them
@@petergjata1498 Yep, I know. that's why I brought it up. They referenced the reaction in the video without saying which one they did. I remember them being distracted by the video, even though they liked the song.
This band is absolutely phenomenal. Their last album, “Where Owls Know my Name”, was absolutely my favorite album of last year and one of my favorites of the decade. It brings so much atmosphere and emotion to the table, along with being extremely refreshing in sound and innovative. Not to mention, I got to see them live with Fit For an Autopsy and Lorna Shore a couple months ago, and they were absolutely PHENOMENAL. They sounded perfect, they were interactive with the crowd, and they were really cool guys. Incredible band.
The story of the album this song is from is about the last man on earth and how he has to watch mankind die and how the earth is changing through the centuries.
One of my favorite albums of 2018 right here. This band is phenomenal. On their tour, they collected stuffed owls (because of their album title “Where Owls Know My Name”) to give to orphans. Fans brought them to shows. It was SO impactful.
You guys loved the other song from Rivers of Nihil as well. They're pretty awesome. Glad they represent my city. You have to hear "The Silent Life" -- it's one of my favorite songs ever.
A background Rivers of Nihil our out an album I believe in 2018 called Where Owls Know My Name. Which was named a top album of the decade by Loudwire and other metal publications. You already reviewed the title track and now have listened to A Home. Now to me, their Magnum Opus is a song called The Silent Life. Give it a listen and you’ll love them even more.
My Father (rip Dad) taught me how to play drums, I’ve been playing since I was 4-5yrs old, so about 27 years now. My Dad popped in the Misfits - Legacy of Brutality..the rest is history. My musical tastes over the years have trended towards always keeping up with the most “hardcore, brutal underground” music. “Where Owls Know My Name” is easily in my Top 5 greatest albums. I was ABSOLUTELY mesmerized, their musicianship is OFF THE CHARTS. This is a 1-in-a lifetime album.
I was gonna recommend Where Owls Know My Name, but I forgot you guys already did that. So, I'll ask this instead. Uhhhhhh, when's that Cattle Decapitation vid you mentioned coming? Edit: Actually, you could also do The Silent Life. By Rivers Of Nihil. Also, for the love of Anubis, please do Virtues Of The Beast by SepticFlesh for this poor Greek man in the comments. He's been asking for like a century, at this point.
I'm pretty sure he said they are going to do Cattle Decap after they do this wave of patreon stuff. On the other hand he told me "We are doing the song this week!" about thirteen months ago.
@@NoDustNPN Aww, that's slightly disappointing. I mean, it's a good song, but I was hoping for Kingdom Of Tyrants, Bring Back The Plague or the Death Atlas video. But, I mean, any Cattle Decap is better than no Cattle Decap lol.
My interpretation was that your body was your hypothetical home. Home is a concept that's temporary, made for comfort. Whatever you call home it really isn't a home bc its temporary. Even your body, you're only borrowing it. You can never call anything in this world a home. Listen to this album!!!
I listened to this album when it came out, and I only remember that I liked it, but not specifically what it sounded like. That was a freakin' great song, and I need to re-check these guys out.
NF’s “How Could You Leave Us” is about his mom leaving. Also, love RoN and this song is awesome. Try Subtle Change or Capricorn / Agoratopia from them.
How do you not remember Where Owls Know My Name lol?! It was one if my alliance picks from the Epic Underground alliance. It also nearly sent Sori into labour. Hit me up if you want more of this style Prog/Tech DM.
Man, Rivers of Nihil- Where Owls Know my Name might be the album of the decade.its a concept album and it is fantastic. I love this song, but it doesn't necessarily show the true scope of the album, it's one of the few songs that doesn't really feature the sax. You guys have done the title track and now this one. You guys really need to do Subtle Change, it's one of the greatest songs I've ever heard, and shows the real scope of the album, every element is in that song.
@@fanfarronsuelo love Terminal Redux. Such an amazing and unique album. I really like everything Vektor does but they really stepped it up on Terminal Redux. Another incredible album is Proponent for Sentience by Allegaeon if you haven't heard that check it out.
Amazing musicianshop aside, I loved the concept of this album, but it seems like either people don't know about it or it's just not discussed by those who do. The last remaining human on Earth, undying and living to see all we built crumble and disappear. And yet less about the world and more a charcter study of what that might do to a mind and a soul... to see the insignificance of it all through the curse of everlasting time.
@@liquididentity101 yeah, I love the story on the album. I love how when you know the story you can feel all the emotion behind it in the music. Perfection.

During 2018, I was having trouble deciding which album I had heard from that year was the best... _and then_ I heard *Rivers of Nihil* - _Where Owls Know My Name_ (the album, not just the song) and it was hands down the best, no contest. So... *Vin* likes "band-in-a-garage" videos, huh? Then I bet these would go down well: *Overkill* - _Bring Me the Night_ (10.2.2010), also *Overkill* - _Armorist_ (1.7.2014), still *Overkill* - _Goddamn trouble_ (3.2.2017), and finally *Overkill* - _Shine On_ (17.3.2017)!
