Thank you so much for making this video! I have to say your voice is super soothing. Two questions: why did you end up doing the signal lights on the back along the side profile of the bike instead of protruding out like the front? & how did you install the passenger pegs?
Hi Angela! Thanks for commenting :) So currently I have rear ward turn signals, a rearward brake-light with incorporated turn signals and then those peg-lights. I mounted them to the side because I already had the rearward lights and thought it would be cool to add extra side visibility while riding. The passenger pegs have predrilled holes in the rear axel. I just ran bolts through from the inside and screwed the passenger peg on, no drilling required.
I just bought majority of the stuff on your list... thanks for that! Also, the PASS PEGS looks like they are unavailable ... can you provide a new link to ones you would recommend? thanks!
thanks for the video! thats an awesome front headlight. I wish i knew more about wiring to get that setup. ive had my rcr for about 2 years now, but for the most part, ive kept it stock. I am planning on replacing the pedals, pegs, and the rear shock. Are you planning on getting the rear rack? i dont think you can bc of how your taillight is mounted right? can you also show us how you replaced the rear shock? TY. LIKE.
Hey! Thanks for commenting! As far as wiring there are people who took the time to develop a light harness so that you can super easily get lights set up. They sell them on Facebook I think but you may find those harnesses on Etsy. I can help connect you if you are interested. No rack for now although I’ve considered getting help building one from a friend who welds. The shock is super easy to replace! I can certainly do a video in the future. Do you have a shock in mind that you want to put on it?
@@FrenchToastMotoClub Thank you! I look forward to seeing your future mods. I'm not riding at night as much as I used to before covid, so right now, having a good light isn't as important as having good shocks. I was able to get over the lighting issue for now by mounting a 1600 lumen mountain bike light with a diffuser underneath the main headlight and I've been thinking of putting a rear piggyback shock to help when I'm hitting unexpected bumps, but I haven't found one. I'm still looking.
@@FrenchToastMotoClubpls hook me up for the harnesses. I am not handy enought when it comes to wiring/soldering. Plug n play is what I need :) So far I have installed 2" handlebar riser & rear rack on my cty2. Your headlight mod looks great, I dont ride at night but would like to have the same for simplicity look. Signal light looks great as well. Also I need to mod the rear taillight as well due to the rear rack blocking them
How far from the handlebar did you cut the wires for the throttle, kill switch, and mode selector? Did you solder them afterwards or did you some kind of connector?
Thanks for stopping by the channel! I used automotive spades that are covered in heat shrink for most connections. If something was a signal wire and thereby low current I may have used a solder-seal connector. Anything related to the kill switch or headlight was an automotive connector. In terms of how far I cut, I went as far as I could, approx 12 inches so I could hide the connectors well.
Hey Max! I was wondering when you would show up around here haha. So I actually build the bracket myself if you are referring to the signal indicators on the sides. That said this is absolutely extra overkill for fun/safety. The brake light that I chose has incorporated turn signals. In terms of how I mounted that, I used an awesome two component epoxy called JB weld plastic bonder in black. I used a flat head screw driver to remove the bracket part of the original tail light and glued it on using the bonder. It's probably stronger than it would have been since the glue is so good and it fits perfectly. Hope that helps!
I chose 60, but if I had to do it again I’d do 68mm. I did cut the handlebar grip. I poked a hole with a Philips head screwdriver and jammed it through
I didn’t opt for it but I did opt for the fork gaiters which I would recommend. I wouldn’t get the dirt kit exclusively because I think you can make the bike your own and find the components for less scouring amazon
Hey! No need for a code, but I would recommend some wiring schematics available online. It’s important you wire into your DC DC inverter on the 12v line
Was that fender a pain to install? I have an ONYX coming, completely stock and love the way your fender looks, but im not sure how to go about installing it.
Hey Drew! The fender was okay to install! I bought a metal fender from amazon and measured out the hole spacing that already exists in the triple tree clamps on the forks. No drilling required there. you drill the respective holes in the fender and bolt it on with long bolts which you need to buy separately. It definitely isn't too bad!
@@seanwalker2509 Hey sean I think the 62mm was no longer in stock for a while but I would get the 68mm I cant remember which one I got to be honest haha
I'd like to know about that charger situation as well!! I'm going to be getting one of these for my daily commute. And I'd love a better more permanent charger for it then just the stock one but I was concerned about damage to the battery.
@@ericlawrence7460 Hey Eric, stoked to hear about more Seattle riders! I did not register it, I wanted to take bike paths at low speed at night and the versatility of using the bike lane in traffic. Personally I would not register the onyx. The onyx doesn't have a true VIN as far as i'm aware and California is one of the few states that allows you to register a vehicle using just a registration number. So the process is to transport the vehicle on a rack or pickup bed to California to register it down there. then transport it to a weigh station and evaluation site in Washington using the California title. I believe the process costs 400$ not including gas and is described by a friend who did it as a nightmare. That said there are sketchier "vins" being sold online. I did not buy one.
Dood. Great vid. Super real.

question for the mirror , what's the best way to install it , do I need to use the spacer it comes with ?
I didn’t need the spacer and it installed really nicely

DeeL2003 yes exactly
You should make a DIY for us newbies in wiring or soldering... but overall great video, I can't wait till my onyx comes in
Thats a great idea, that said I am by no means a wiring expert. I can make a future video on how I went about learning though :)
Hi! How did you mount the brake light with signal indicators? The holes on my Onyx don't line up :(

Ordering a set of those mirrors for my RCR. Did you choose 60mm or 68mm?
Wondering which size you bought, and if they were easy to install or you had to cut the handlebar grip?

when it comes to the turning and brake lights . do you just connect the wires or would you have to code something . thank you
Hey! No need for a code, but I would recommend some wiring schematics available online. It’s important you wire into your DC DC inverter on the 12v line
Where did you get the bracket that mounts to the turn signals?
I actually made that bracket! I used a piece of polycarbonate
Great video! Was it hard to install the turn signal?
It definitely isn’t beginner wiring but I believe you can buy a turn signal harness now that is very plug and play. This is what I would recommend
Was it hard connecting the rear light?
It wasn’t bad at all! But I’d recommend getting help if you have no wiring experience

Hi, do you do ride groups?
I’ve gone a few rides with other onyx riders in the Seattle area but I haven’t done a ride in a while!
What size is the mirror? Blue glass or silver? Thanks
Silver! and I believe the smaller size of the two
FrenchToastMotoClub ok cool, you had mentions in the video that you had gone with the slightly larger.

FrenchToastMotoClub ok, do you personally would recommend the larger one if it’s in stock? Thanks again 👍🏻
Yes I would! Larger viewing area and we are talking mm so not a huge difference
What mm for the mirrors?
I can’t remember but I did get the smaller size and they were great
THANK YOU.
You're welcome!
French what charger is that behind your bike?
It’s from EBay! It’s a 1-12amp variable current 72-84v Charger. I’m still testing it but expect a review soon :)
FrenchToastMotoClub still using stock battery or extended range?
I am! There’s a lot of reasons to upgrade batteries and still some good reasons not to. Needless to say I’m conflicted! Are you considering it?

keep us updated please!
May post a video soon :)
How much mile you get on your onyx?
146 so far :)
Have you had any problems with authorities, when riding this bike on Streets or Bike Trails?
Hey! Honestly I haven’t. I think if you are going 50+ by an officer you may get checked out but I try and ride responsibly and haven’t seen any issues
