Nanou, Grinch, I love your compost bin. I always try to repurpose like you. Better than the crate ending up in a landfill. So sorry about your leaky roof! Take care you two! 😘
Thank you so much! The compost bin is great! When I saw the crate, I just saw a compost bin straight away! It is just perfect for it! I am also glad we didn’t buy the greenhouse for nothing, the materials from it are very useful! This recycled bin is so much better than the ones I bought! 😘🌸💕
I got some laugh off Grinch climbing in the compost frame 🤣🤣 your laugh is so infectious, hope his ankle isn't too sore 😅 I'm not convinced Grinch is going to want to take up the offer from your neighbour when the second one arrives 🙈 😅 It really is so wonderful see you and grinch working away 🥰 I laughed so much in this right up until the bit where you showed your house omg 😲 I hope everything works out okay 😔xx
Grinch did say he is only doing the next one with Fluffy!!!😂🤣 I am quite happy with that as it is really heavy but we did have a good laugh! It was well worth doing it! I am so pleased with the new bin, it is so much better! 😄👍🌸💕
I had such a good laugh watching you carrying that pallet while laughing 😂. It turned out really good! Everything is coming together really well! Thanks for the video! 🍃
I am so glad! I was laughing so much when I was editing the video! It is funny how much you don’t realise you are doing things until you see yourself doing it! We did have a good laugh and the bin is excellent! 😘🌸💕
Thank you so much for your comment as I often think we haven’t done enough progress. My list of jobs is always so long and we never get to the end of it! 😄😘🌸💕
Hello Nanou and Grinch. I’ve been watching your journey since the beginning, and I’m amazed with the progress you have made. One year down, many more to come. My compost bin is made from pallets, my raised beds are made with slab wood. I’m a firm believer in reusing materials, and I’m happy to see that you are as well. Hope your roof is a quick fix. xox 🇨🇦
Thank you so much! We are trying to recycle as much as we can. I have just managed to get 2 free water butts from Facebook Market. I am so pleased about that. I really want to put some gutters on the shed and collect some of that rain we are getting at the moment. That roof section has been covered with a plastic sheet by the roofer and we have to wait for the rain to stop for them to repair it! It might be a long wait… but the plastic is stopping the water getting in so it’s ok ( as long as the wind doesn’t get hold of that plastic! I am checking every day!) 😘🌸💕
Thank you so much, I am trying to have it organised so I am glad you can see it! I always work better when it is organised and tidy. Grinch was not happy about building a bed that didn’t fit but it will be useful on the plot. It is a nice size and it was half price so I do not regret getting it. I am going to work hard at composting. I am saving all the leaves from the garden as well as all the vegetable peelings, banana skins, teabags and eggshells. You got me to really think about our soil and what we put in it! 😘🌸💕
Rather amusing to share your struggle in getting the compost bin to the site! 😂 I have had some strange looks when dragging some of the larger articles back to my plot! 😉
Thank you very much! The wooden crate was just the perfect size and shape for a compost bin! It was good to use the panels of our wrecked greenhouse. We are really happy with the new compost bin! 😄👍🌸💕
Thank you so much! We are so pleased with the bin. It also felt good to utilise some materials from the old greenhouse, at least we made some good use out of it. We are so happy that the roof is fixable and that we don’t need a new roof yet!!! It is an old roof and it is always a worry when the weather is bad. Last year, we had to have the chimney stacks redone as they were crumbling away, I am glad we did as they probably would have fallen in that wind. That would have been far worse!!! We have been lucky really. 😘💕🌸
@@plotno.9 oh my goodness! It doesn't bare thinking what could have happened with the chimneys! Yes using up the previous greenhouse panels made it feel it wasn't a total loss! We had to replace our decking this month as it was getting quite rotten and dangerous in places but managed to rescue some good pieces, I'm building a tiered strawberry planter with it! Can I post a picture when I've finished it? (rain has stopped play at the moment!) x
Oh Nanou I hope your roof is an easy and not too costly fix! For your next pallet bin move, could you borrow a sack barrow from someone? It would be easier for you but not as entertaining for us 🤣At the beginning of the growing season next year, if you run out of room in the polytunnel you could close the rest of the compost bin in, and use it to lay seed trays in like a small green house. Then once everything is planted out, take the piece back off to ventilate the compost bin again. Have a good weekend, and I hope the weather is kind to you xx
Roof repairs are never cheap but we are just relieved that the whole roof doesn’t need changing. The house was built in 1950 and it is the original roof so it is tired in some places. Last year we had to have the chimney stacks rebuilt as they were crumbling away. I always worry when we get a lot of winds as we often lose tiles!!! Such a great idea using the compost bin as a mini greenhouse. I will definitely do that as I am sure I will run out of room! Thank you so much 😄👍🌸💕💕
ohhh my gosh i felt exhausted watching y carry that pallet. You did really well to get it there. Grinch you are so patient and so helpful. You must be exhausted. Good luck with your roof
Thank you so much Stella! I still cannot believe how heavy this crate was! It was well worth the effort, I am thrilled with our new bin! I really want to make a lot more of our own compost, it is good for the planet and it would save us time and money. We are doing far too many compost trips to the nursery! Grinch did say he is doing the next crate with Fluffy only!!! I can’t blame him… he was so patient with me! I am very lucky! 😘🌸💕
I hope the damage to your house was not too extensive. and that it is easily repaired. You were having so much fun with the new compost area, and it does look great. Year two on your plot should be very exciting! Maybe you need a fruit cage to protect your little orchard! You could get one of those old portable metal shelters frames p, they make for cars and storage, and wrap it with chicken wire to keep the deer out. It would be really flexible to use in other ways too! Wishing you all the best!
The roof was a bit more expensive than we thought initially but it is far better than changing the roof! The roof is old and very tired in places. This is the fourth repair we had to do since we moved here 2 years ago, and every time after a storm. It does get very windy here. For now, the roofer has covered the area with plastic and they will come when it is dryer and when they have a free spot. Quite a few people had their roof damaged locally unfortunately. This is a great idea for a fruit cage, I will have a look on Facebook and eBay! That is a great new project! We do have so many deers and rabbits visiting the allotment. I didn’t even know they ate bark! 😄👍💕🌸
You'd did well carrying that compost bin! It looked like hard work. Worth it though as that is one fancy looking compost bin! Sorry about your roof, nightmare!!
Our roof is old and it often loses tiles in storms. This time the problem is a bit bigger but at least it is repairable. We always worry that the roofer might say it has to be changed completely! I am over the moon with the new compost bin! It is just perfect! Those wooden crates are great but they are heavy! At least I know it won’t collapse or fly away!!! 😄👍🌸💕
Hi Nanou.....thanks for the mention......Yes, great to repurpose those plastic greenhouse panels......they work a treat on the compost bays. Yours is looking great and you have inspired me to see if i can make a lid for mine with any scrap wood. Good idea!.... I cant believe you and Grinch carried that crate to the allotment!!🤣........Have a lovely weekend....Will🌻
Grinch was very patient with me! He did say he is only doing the next one if Fluff is here!!! 😂🤣 You had such a great idea using the greenhouse panels on the compost bins! I love it! Doing the tops makes sense, especially when we are having so much rain at the moment, I want to control how wet it gets and it will keep it warmer. It will also stop us stacking all sorts of rubbish on top!!! 😂🤣😘💕🌸
You need a hand truck to wheel things👍. Great compost bin and use of recycled items. It’s a great idea to lid the compost bin to control the amount of moisture that gets in. Grinch, you are so patient.
I didn’t think of a hand truck, that is a great idea, especially as our wheelbarrow is extremely flimsy! I am going to put it on the Christmas list instead of a stronger wheelbarrow! Grinch is always very patient with me, I am very lucky. 😘🌸💕
@@plotno.9 I find the hand truck very useful in my garden. We actually use it almost daily. Great to move the large pots, cinder block, statues, etc. Also we wheel the lawn waste bags around with us in the yard.
Hi! Thank you so much! Unfortunately Barry our wheelbarrow wouldn’t be up to task! It is very flimsy and threatens to collapse if we put more than 2 bags of soil in it!!! Fluffy came and helped with the second one. The second crate wasn’t as well made as the first one so it was a bit lighter. Both men carried it to the plot with only 2 stops! 😄👍🌸💕
Omg it’s a good thing your close to the allotment that’s crazy 😜 Grinch it’s not a hat 🎩. Oh I couldn’t stop laughing about upside down is heavier Nanou. And your getting another one, you need a cart or wagon to put it on. Oh bugger it’s raining like mad. 😂😂 how big does he think worms are 🪱🪱🪱🪱. I love a recycle 💪💪. You have done a phenomenal job with this allotment and I for one can’t wIt to see spring ❤. Have an amazing week ahead and keep, that laughter going, Ali 🌬️🌧️🍁🇨🇦
It was heavier!!! 😂🤣😂🤣 The weight was on top instead of the bottom and it was harder to lift 😂🤣… Grinch still doesn’t believe me !!! 😂🤣 He was so good that day! It was a good laugh! We did sooooooo many stops. I do wonder if anyone was watching from the houses, they must have thought we were mad!!! Only gardeners would get it! I am so glad you had a good laugh! We did too all the way to the allotment!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Although next time I am leaving Grinch and Fluffy deal with it! Have a lovely weekend! 😘🌸💕
Oh hun you need to catch a break!! You’ve had so much go wrong this year! Good job your allotment holding up to the weather ( always good to have a positive) xx
Grinch would disagree but I would have definitely been more upset if the polytunnel or the shed had been damaged! I am so happy that they were fine! I listened to the wind and rain all night wondering if they had flown at the other end of the site like the greenhouse did! Luckily the roof is fixable without changing the whole roof so we have been lucky. We are also on the top of a hill so we do not get flooded here. Hope you have been ok too. 😘💕🌸
@@plotno.9 I’m the same every time there’s a storm! I have a new polytunnel this year too and greenhouses so I’m always twitchy when the wind picks up… glad tho it’s all good for you and the roof is an easier fix instead of full replacement xx do take care of yourself hun xx
Ahh wish I was closer would have helped moved that pallet in the van…. It’s cleared now so would have fit 😊 Where there is a will, there is a way Nanou 😊 I usually roll the heavy pallets like Grinch did. So much easier on the back. ❤ Wednesday we will start making our compost bays. It’s going to be a fantastic area for composting and storing bits of spare wood and poles etc. Have a fantastic week Allie & Tricia xx😊
You are really lovely! We are very lucky that we can walk to the allotment. I am so glad we did it because the bin is great! I am hoping to get a lot more compost next year, it would be very helpful! Good luck with your compost bay! I look forward to see it! Much love xx😘🌸💕
@@plotno.9 it’s absolutely the way to go, making as much as we can of our own compost, quality of shop bought isn’t what it used to be and can be expensive. Again we gain so much pleasure from doing it ourselves…. Well with the help of the worms. 🪱 Also helps reduce home waste going to landfill or recycling,♻️ 🥰 Wednesday i have the evening off, so a good few hours I can spend down the plots. Keep laughing and smiling it’s definitely addictive. A x🌸
Oh no. The leaking! It’s old fashioned valley treatment too. Should be lead flashing. Hope it’s sorted soon We’ve recently battled blooming rats getting in to our loft. That was no fun either! Took a while to find the hole they were accessing Pleased the polytunnel survived the storm. I did think about you. Compost bin looks amazing. The bed in the tunnel looks ace too. Worked out in the end for the best. Woodchip delivery imminent.. HOW EXCITING! What a busy week you’ve had 😊
Oh no , I can genuinely sympathise, in a previous house we had rats because neighbours had chickens far too close to the houses. They were terraced houses and the rats took residence in the attics, between the walls and under the floor boards!!! Luckily they never came into our house because we had the two cats and at the time, we had our old Jack Russell, but our neighbour often found them on her kitchen counter in the morning eating her bread! 😱😱😱. We called pest control many times but they just couldn’t get rid of them because the rats were moving across all the houses. When a rat died under the house, the smell was horrendous. At night you could hear them scratching the walls and running in the attic! 😱😱😱 It was like the horror book The Rats by James Herbert! We were renting then and we did move. It was the only way to get out of the situation. If I hear any noise in the attic now, I start worrying so much… This is also the reason why I would never have chickens. I really feel for you and I hope the rats won’t be back! 🤞🤞🤞😘💕🌸
@@plotno.9 as farmers we can buy the really good bait. Sorts them out. We also used humane traps (but dispatched the rats, didn’t let them free). We think it’s all sorted now. No bait talen, no noises and no triggering of the rat-cams since we closed up the hole we found. Your previous situation sounds horrific! How awful to live like that. 😩😩😩😩😩 We’ll always have rats about the farm buildings due to feeding our livestock
That looks like such hard work but gave me a giggle as I can relate to you getting out of breath etc 😂 Looks like fun too though carrying down the road 😂
I couldn’t believe how heavy it was! You wouldn’t think so looking at it! I am glad we did it though because the compost bin is great! So happy with it! 😄👍🌸💕
The compost bay looks great but and with all that insulation it will heat up in no time. I got a compost thermometer to monitor the temperature of my piles. I use it to let me know when to turn the pile. They are very cheap but a great tool to have.
What a great idea Adam, I wouldn’t have thought of that! I am going on Amazon now and buying one for each bin! Thank you so much for suggesting it! Brilliant! 😄👍💕🌸
Hi Adam! I paid £20 on Amazon for that wheelbarrow and it is so flimsy. It can only manage 2 bags of 70 litres compost at a time! Grinch tried 3 and it nearly collapsed. It would never have survived the weight of the crate! It is amazing how heavy wood is! Good idea though, I have to admit, we didn’t even think of it! 🤭😄👍🌸💕

If you lived local to me I’d have popped over with a car and trailer for you Grinch’s patience left his body when it fell on his foot 😩🙈
I agree, that would have been a great idea, unfortunately , I bought the wheelbarrow on Amazon for £20 and it is extremely flimsy!!! It can just about managed 2 bags of 70 litres of compost and it still struggles! This might be on my Christmas list! A better wheelbarrow!!! 😂🤣😘💕🌸

Hello, Sir, I saw your UA-cam channel and understand you are a UA-camr. It is a very nice video on your channel; I really enjoyed it. There are a total of 1.07k subscribers and 51 uploaded videos on your channel. I noticed one thing: according to your channel, your channel videos are not viewed or subscribed to. You need to optimize your channel and do video SEO to reach your target audience. Otherwise, if you upload videos to your channel throughout the year, none of your videos will get viral views. If your channel is optimized a little and if the videos are SEO, then your channel will rank very fast and grow. I am waiting for your response.

It’s cleared now so would have fit 😊
Where there is a will, there is a way Nanou 😊 I usually roll the heavy pallets like Grinch did. So much easier on the back. ❤
Wednesday we will start making our compost bays.
It’s going to be a fantastic area for composting and storing bits of spare wood and poles etc.
Have a fantastic week
Allie & Tricia xx😊
Hope it’s sorted soon
We’ve recently battled blooming rats getting in to our loft. That was no fun either! Took a while to find the hole they were accessing
Pleased the polytunnel survived the storm.
We’ll always have rats about the farm buildings due to feeding our livestock
I am so glad you have sorted it out. It is wonderful how well you deal with everything on the farm! 😘🌸💕
Imagine just putting the pallet on a wheelbarrow 🤣 Nope walk it 🤐
I have to admit, we never thought of it!!! 🤪😘🌸💕
@@plotno.9 Imagine it with the next one ;)
The compost bay looks great but and with all that insulation it will heat up in no time. I got a compost thermometer to monitor the temperature of my piles. I use it to let me know when to turn the pile. They are very cheap but a great tool to have.
What a great idea Adam, I wouldn’t have thought of that! I am going on Amazon now and buying one for each bin! Thank you so much for suggesting it! Brilliant! 😄👍💕🌸
@@plotno.9 just be warned you will become obsessed with the temperature of your compost 😁
i think next time build it at the plot hehe xx
We probably should have!!! We always seem to choose the more complicated option!!! 😂🤣😘🌸💕
You should have put it on your wheelbarrow. It would have avoided any damage to Grinch 😮
@@plotno.9 next time get Grinch and Fluffy to move the wood and you stay at home with a nice cup of tea ☕️🤣
Sorry about my last comment, it was meant for another channel and must have made absolutely no sense! 😂 your video started straight after theirs as I was typing! Anyway I’m glad it happened because now I’ve found your channel! Well done carrying that to the allotment, it certainly looked like a challenge! 😂❤
I suspected it wasn’t us but I didn’t want to be rude. Thank you so much for getting back to me! It was very thoughtful of you 😄👍💕🌸
Ps grinch I feel your pain because Gerald says I’m a Nanou 😂😂😂😂
I wonder if Gerald had the same facial expression as Grinch when you announced you wanted to move your lovely brassica cage! 😂🤣🤣 Like I always say to Grinch, I have to make sure you don’t get bored!!! 😂🤣😘🌸💕
Oh no , I hope there wasn’t to much damage done to your roof and it was an easy fix
Thank you so much, we are just relieved it is fixable without changing the whole roof ! It is an old roof and we did worry!!! I still think I would have been more upset if the polytunnel or the shed had taken off! I am so glad they were fine! 😄👍🌸💕
@@plotno.9 haha I would of been the same ! When you posted at the start of the vlog the roof was damaged , my first thought was oh no are the shed and Polytunnel ok 😂😂😂
Should have stuck some wheels on it ❤
It would have made our life a lot easier!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😘💕🌸
I can see Grinch thinking how many years for murder 😂
I am sure he did!!! 😂🤣 He has said he is only doing the next one with Fluffy!!! 😂🤣😘💕🌸
I came here at 7:33 to say you should have taken it on a wheelbarrow. It would have balanced across it and been steadied by you whilst grinch pushed.
Remember that for the next one. If you lived local to me I’d have popped over with a car and trailer for you
Grinch’s patience left his body when it fell on his foot 😩🙈
I agree, that would have been a great idea, unfortunately , I bought the wheelbarrow on Amazon for £20 and it is extremely flimsy!!! It can just about managed 2 bags of 70 litres of compost and it still struggles! This might be on my Christmas list! A better wheelbarrow!!! 😂🤣😘💕🌸
@@plotno.9 oh yes! The wrapping of that will look cool under the tree 🤣
That would look brilliant!!! 😂🤣👍💕🌸
@@plotno.9 you’re going to need a big tree 🤣
@@TheFarmyardGarden I love Christmas decorations, the house becomes a Christmas grotto and our tree touches the ceiling! I also have a second one in the conservatory!!! I have lots of lights in the garden too!!! 😂🤭
A Fruit cage is not a fence😉
That is true! A fruit cage might be our next project because we have far too many deers! 😘💕🌸
Much sturdier than the previous bin! 😃👍💪 And what a determination to carry this beast to an allotment! 😄😲💪 .. Nanou, here is the great idea for your new pollytunel, I think you will be as amazed as I was 😄😃 - ua-cam.com/video/Dd-FOj7cuLc/v-deo.htmlsi=YeeQqNOnEpoUtMYx so you can grow vegetables and greens there even in winter! Because you are surely in more southern climate than he 😂😂
I am so pleased with our new bin, it was worth the hard work! Thank you so much for the link, I will look at it tonight! I look forward to it! Grinch and I are off to the allotment to deal with some woodchip!!! 😄👍😘🌸💕
@@plotno.9 when you do watch it, tell me your impressions 🌺🌱
I am so sorry, I forgot to get back to you! I loved the video and in fact, I subscribed to his channel to watch more of his videos. He explained everything so well and so calmly. I am going to try it and cover the plants with frame and plastic inside the polytunnel to keep more heat in at night. I will also cover the doors. He has great ideas! Thank you so much for sharing the link with me! I have planted different lettuces, cabbages, broccoli, carrots and garlic in the tunnel now. The nights are definitely colder. We had a frost on Friday night. It must be quite cold with you now! 😘💕🌸
@@plotno.9 Actually, for the last weeks we have had approximately the same wheather as you 😁😉 +8/10 C during the day, around +4 at nights 😁 but for the end of this week they promise that finally the frost will arrive (-5C) 😂. The snow I told you earlier, melted after couple of hours, and we hadnt seen it again 😂
@@plotno.9 Regarding subscribing to his channel, - unfortunately he stop posting two years ago..
Thank you very much for your kind words but we are all right as we are.
