This episode reminded me of my visit in HK in the early 2000s, me and my friends shop for Seafood in the wet markets in Saigon, approximately a 1/2 hr taxi ride from the city of Kowloon. We shopped at several seafood stalls along the sea wall, just like Amy did, then we noticed people started running toward the fishing boat just pulled in with fresh fish. Next thing we knew they just caught a huge ‘ So Mae ‘, the length of about 6 ft long, the boat owner started to cut the head off, then selling the flesh in sections. I was told that was a once in a life time occurrence and shouldn’t miss the opportunity. Without thinking twice, I purchased 2 cattys of this incredible fish and headed for the restaurant. The texture of this fish was so bouncy like eating a fish ball. That was an experience of a lifetime.
@@amyamychenseveryday2501 Good is an under statement. So Mae fish is a really rare commodity. You always hear how expensive and rare this fish was, especially in the 90s. I’m so glad I didn’t miss the opportunity. As it turned out, the best culinary experience I ever had. Lesson learned is those chances only comes once in so many years, one should not hesitate and take the plunge, I’m so glad I did. I doubt that fish is still available today, probably not in GZ either, they come in humongous size and small 3-4 lbs, if you ever come across one, I would definitely recommend it to you Amy.

謝謝分享介紹。疫情前每次回港探外母探親兩個多星期,一定要去屯門三聖邨享受兩次真海鮮,在多倫多食淡水魚是不能和游水的鹹水魚可比的。Amy 這位長者事頭婆叫禮姐,幫襯她我比較心安,若是貴格魚她會提議條魚先放血小心駛得萬年船不會被偷龍轉鳳。一塊靚牛扒,一條任何游水海水,久不久享受下,簡直令我忘不了!

@@qinglin3677 兄弟午安。三藩市灣區都有咁嘅服務,佢哋都係小型餐廳或私房料理,但只係對熟客開放。 疫情前,通過搵食群組,我哋都會同相熟釣魚達人或直接去魚人碼頭揀海鮮。 可惜,近呢兩,三年加州大麻合法化後,好多魚民去種草搵現錢當正職,出海釣魚變成一日打魚六日曬網😂😂

上記海鮮嘅禮姐,足秤,價錢在三聖邨海鮮檔嚟講算較公道,我已幫襯她多年了。東星班二百蚊咁大條就一定係養的了。我幾年前也去過南記1次,中伏,我買嗰條一斤十二兩重嘅紅瓜子班,成七百蚊,俾佢蒸到喲肉木哂,完全過哂火!以後都無再去了。

2022 年回港又去返三聖邨買海鮮及找酒家加工。
海鲜比我幾年前買的價錢貴咗是預咗,但去屋邨內好似也是南記或同類型酒家加工費則貴很多很多! 而且水準比我前幾年食差好多. 我不知鱼檔附近幾間正式酒楼加工費多少,後悔冇走去問清楚, 有可能人人都怕貴而幫襯屋邨內平價酒楼反而一D都唔平. 如果價錢不相差太遠起碼坐得舒服环境乾浄D.
圍着海鮮檔酒家加工費更貴 但環境交舒適 多數是商務客 外國遊客多。建議海鮮在街市買會平很多 再去三聖加工 由於加工費約70多/斤 買啲靚啲去加工(加工費貴過料)。我會去興記 早點訂位較好 試試。記住每間店入店前一定問清楚。
