    I find adidas shoes too narrow in the toebox for me and i've never owned a pair of nikes either so cant comment...but I would love to hear if you've run any further in those asics you got a month or two back and any further thoughts on those? I run in asics all the time and am looking to getting a racing flat...I think the ones you had were racing flats?

    • @kofuzi

      I had the dynaflyte 2. They were a good shoe. I liked them for long distance. And they were a bargain.
      I’d like to get more Asics in the rotation, but I think they’re getting lost in all the other shoe releases this year. I don’t find myself reaching for them, unfortunately.
      I think there may be an update to the dynaflyte coming, which I’m going to keep an eye out for.

      The Adidas Ultraboosts are actually really stretchy in the toe box in the regular model. It’s not that narrow. You could try them out, but I wouldn’t run in them since there’s almost no support.

      castno how’s the zoom fly sp compared to the regular zoom fly? I’ve heard the sp is more of a stylish shoe than a runner? Mainly because there’s such little support in the upper. I’ve tried to find reviews online for the sp but most people use them for style rather than running. Would be great to hear from someone who uses them for running. Thanks!

    I would never run in the ultraboost but in terms of comfort, there is no competition. I have the 1.0, 3.0 and 4.0s. They are way too heavy and the upper has no support. The Pegasus is more of a proper running shoe.

  • @atalk143
    @atalk143 6 років тому +1

    Great job with the comparison review - I greatly appreciate your honest and open approach. I was lucky to purchase my pair during Nike's pre-release and I have been running with them exclusively. I've enjoyed their performance so much that I just purchased the black colorway to "share the wear" and give them more than a day to dry/air out from sweat caused by the oppressive Texas heat.
    For the most part, my Peg Turbo experience mirrors yours with the exception of the mysterious shrinking toe box :) The one big negative that I have is that I cannot use these shoes for LSD (long slow distance) day. The impact absorption, subsequent bounce, followed by the slight forward propulsion is just enough to throw my stride and form off. I end up marching-band running on what is suppose to be a recovery day.
    In any case, I am looking purchasing the UB/PB, the Saucony Ride ISO or the Nike Peg 35/Vomero as a recovery day trainer. Do you have any leanings on any of these? Back-to-school sales are ramping up this weekend so prices should be very nice.

    I have been a fan boy of adidas ultra boost starting from the 1.0s up to the 4.0s . Adidas has been cutting corners on the 4.0s compared to the 1.0s. Not sure if they are just trying to make the shoes lighter. The 1.0s quality are amazing. I just purchased the Pegasus 35s. Having both I will use my ultra boost as casual shoes. They are way to mushy for runners and don’t give the proper support. I will use my Pegasus strictly for running and training and ultraboost as a fashion casual shoe. Both shoes serves different purposes

    I have both. Ultaboost shoes are very comfortable and cushioned. I love them for long runs. Didn't buy Nike shoes since 2,5 years. Loved to run in Adidas, Asics, Saucony and Hoka. But with the release of the Next%., I had to buy those. The Propulsion is unbelievable, never had this experience.. bought also now the Pegasus 35 Turbo. Not as comfortable as the Ultraboost. But the responsiveness of the Zoom X is unbeatable. So the Turbo will be now my Tempo Runs shoes. 👍😀

    Ok! This is a great subject and I was looking for this exact comparison. I have been on the fence for ultra boost, but looking for a runner I can wear casually because I too travel a lot and hate lugging shoes around. So would you say the boost are more soft or more firm that the turbos? I think softer shoes are not agreeing with me.

    • @cameronthaijohnson
      @cameronthaijohnson 6 років тому +3

      Eli Both are very soft for running shoes. You may want to go with the regular Pegasus if soft shoes don't work for you. The Epic React is soft too, but firmer than the UB or Peg Turbo.

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  6 років тому +1

      I generally don’t like the Epic React past 6 miles or so. I may be in the minority on that opinion though

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  6 років тому +2

      I agree with Cameron Johnson that the regular Pegasus may be a better option for you. Or, I’d try some of the other boost offerings (pureboost dpr comes to mind) if you are interested in boost but don’t want something too soft.

    • @ravensofend
      @ravensofend 6 років тому

      Yeah I have peg 35s and love them. I also have turbos. But my main goal is to have one shoe when I travel. The turbos are too casual for work (gray color) and the cushion is almost unstable soft for me to just walk in all day. I do film work so I’m on my feet a lot. And I run daily. That’s why I was curious about the boost I see a lot of people wearing them casually, and they don’t look bad. If they are just a little more firm that could be what I’m looking for.

    • @kissmyvansdude
      @kissmyvansdude 6 років тому +2

      I use Pureboost and Pureboost DPR for running shorter distances because the lack of an insole means my legs start to ache on longer runs. I use Epic React casually, at the gym and sometimes for shorter runs. They are soft but not as soft as UB. I use Pegasus 34s and 35s for running longer distances. Can't beat Pegasus for longer distances. I use UB strictly for casual wear and at the gym. Too soft to run in but perfect for walking around in. I haven't got the Pegasus Turbo yet because they just released online in Australia but I hope to get them soon in a colourway I like.

I switch between them regularly in order to increase their longevity but when I put on the adidas it is a whole different level of good. I know that there is a meaningful price difference, but I watch a lot of running vlogs and the pegasus are widely regarded as excellent running shoes, and I rarely hear any kind of ultraboost mentioned positively, except in a casual daily shoe context. Would you mind to give a recommendation for shoes for the NYC marathon (approx 4 hr time)? Tried on the Turbos today and they felt super gooey and not sure how they would hold up after 20 miles. Any comparison to the Epic React or other shoes for non-BQ marathon runners? Current rotation includes NB 880s (daily trainer), Ultraboost (cushioned) and Kinvara 9s (5k/10k pace). At this point I would lean toward the NB or K9s, but the 880s will likely be worn out by November. Thanks! (And thanks for all the great content!)

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  6 років тому

      thanks so much for watching! i love answering questions for non-BQ runners, as that's squarely where I am.
      I personally didn't much like the K9 or the Epic React for long distances. My main concern for a marathon is not so much gooiness as it is hardness. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, but I worry that my shoes will feel like they're bottoming out by the end of a marathon. So the Epic React and Kinvara are out for me, personally.
      I'm currently thinking I will run in a Turbo for my marathon in Indianapolis in November (unless I can get my hands on a pair of 4%). I've gone as long as a 15 mile run in the Turbo, and I did not get a gooey sensation in them, as I might get in Ultraboost.
      The 880 is a shoe that I think is quite interesting, but it's not one that I've had the pleasure of running in yet.

    • @crazytexan7
      @crazytexan7 6 років тому

      Awesome, thanks for the reply! The 880s are not that flashy, basically the NB version of the daily trainer like Pegasus, but very comfortable and stable for daily use. They don't have FreshFoam and are a bit of a clunker, but work for me, as they (and the K9s) are a bit wider in the forefoot. You may find the 890s more interesting as they are slightly lighter/faster -- or maybe not since you like the cushion! I felt the 1080s were on too high of a platform and unstable as a result, but you might enjoy them since they have FreshFoam and are on the Vomero / Ultraboost spectrum of high cushioning. Any idea what shoe you might review next? Looking forward to it!

    Just sharing my experience with pegasus turbo 2 if your looking something that’s durable enough to do such thing like shuttle run don’t buy this shoes because i have issue with the soal starting to seperated in the front part , and adidas in my opinion have better endurance to do anything.

      i'm keeping an eye on sale prices. if i can pick them up super cheap, i might do it. otherwise, it's getting too cold (and too close to UB20)

    Thanks for the comparison/unique content! Do you bring any gels or water on your 10 mile+ runs?

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  6 років тому +2

      i am very fortunate to have water fountains available to me fairly regularly along the lakefront trail where I do most of my running. these days, i only bring a gel if i'm going longer than a half marathon, although for races i'll take them much more frequently

    Get half size up in the Peg Turbo and they are more comfortable than Ultra Boost

    I'm looking for a shoe to run a half marathon race - trying to break 1 hour 30 min. I have a rotation of shoes for my training. Do you think the Pegasus Turbo is the best option given that I cannot get ahold of the Vaporfly 4%? Or should I go for a racing shoe like the Streak 6?

    • @kofuzi
      @kofuzi  6 років тому

      Some people swear the by streak 6, and it’s a shoe I’ve been meaning to try. Don’t know that I’d want it for a half marathon though.
      With what’s out on the market as of today, I’ll be running in the Turbo for my next half in September. I’m shooting for 1:32 or 1:31, so pretty close to you. (But I’m also hoping for some new releases in the interim that might change that.)

      Thanks for the feedback. I recently saw this article from the New York Times that got me thinking about the Streak 6 which seams to do almost as well as the 4%. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/07/18/upshot/nike-vaporfly-shoe-strava.html

    i have the Ultraboost ST and the peg Turbo. I really like it for run long and slow runs (>30km) with the Ultraboost but the peg Turbo is very well for faster long runs, maybe 20sec under race pace. I do not agree with your assessment that Peg Turo is a competitive shoe. For real races the Turbo is not responsive enough you can go fast with this shoe but not like the streak 6 or 4%

    The Pegasus 35 arch was just too high and firm for me. It hurt my flatish feet. The heel felt a bit blocky too. I tried the Turbo in the store, but unfortunately it still felt blocky in the heel and like the arch was too high. I will stick to my Epic React and Freedom Iso. I am ordering a Reebok Floatride Run Fast for my fast running. The Peg Turbo felt more like a high cushioned daily trainer to me, and not really a fast shoe. It felt like React with a squishier cushioning on top. I didn't feel a ton of extra bounce from the Zoom X, and $180 dollars is just too much for an off fit and a ride that didn't blow me away.

    I used to run in pegs, 32,33,34 I kept getting injuries so switched to the ultra boosts and not been injured since. I’ve ran two marathons in the boosts and have zero complaints. I am a Nike guy tho so I kinda wish the boosts were Nike 😬😆

      Gary Oakley 35 is a different animal; 32 is good but still a little too firm; I guess you might want to strengthen you muscle a bit before putting on tempo shoes

  • @davidlewiskyle5597
    @davidlewiskyle5597 6 років тому

    100% agree. I wear both. Own about 7 or 8 pair of Ultra Boost and 1 pair of Turbos. Ultra Boost is definitely the best walk around shoe, most comfy shoe I’ve ever worn, but I’d select Turbos on run day. Not sure if that’s because the shoe is super hyped rn or it actually feels better to run in 🤷🏻‍♂️. I just ordered a .5 size up on Turbos to see if it’ll help with the snug-ness I’ve experienced.
