    So I thought I was gonna have a easy paint job in my house. Little to my knowledge that was not the case. I ran into the old paint peeling. I thought I knew what I was doing but clearly not. lol so with that ending said I tried to just paint the wall and it just peeled the paint off again. So which of these should I use to keep the edges down so I can spackle it sand it and paint

    The shellac primer is great and also sands extremely smooth, HOWEVER here in California, they have now banned denatured alcohol (thank you politicians....) which is needed for working with any shellac-based paint since alcohol is the solvent used for shellac. You can still clean with acetone, but it takes a lot more and more time and effort. Still though, I do love the stuff and nothing else compares.

      You can also use an ammonia and water solution to clean brushes and sprayers after using shellac! Zinser BIN even now lists this on the label.

    Question: considering PVA drywall primer is technically a sealer. Will prep sanding it prior to painting have a negative effect on its "sealing" abilities?? Thanks 😊

    If the peel stop is clear, and the color I am covering is dark, relative to the new top coat, shouldn’t I be using a white tinted primer? The peel stop I purchased from Benjamin Moore is clear and I think it states, on the label, that it isn’t tintable .

    Thanks for the video. My friend recommended Kel-Bond that’s how I found your video. Question: I want to skimcoat my textured walls/ceilings in my home which have been pained with paint that has some sheen to it. Would Kel-Bond work to prime the existing paint before I skimcoat over it?

    What is the best product to use like in a bathroom where the paint is blistering from too much moisture? I scraped the areas and replastered the spots, then primed and painted but it started blistering again about a year later

      Start with a stain blocking oil based primer like S-W extreme block.

    When you use BIN on a whole-house interior project, like the one you referred to with the cats, how did you apply it? Did you use a sprayer (or would you suggest that)?

    What primer should I use if I want to paint over wallpaper? Removing the paper is not an option as it was glued directly to the drywall…

      Did you do it already? I'm getting ready for that same scenario. Was going to use cover up primer, skim coat the seams, caulk the base and trim areas, then sand and another coat of cover up.. spackle sand and paint. Curious how you did it and how it turned out.

    What primer do you recommend for pine wood siding? It's brand new, on the exterior and is in a humid/hot environment six months of the year (Oklahoma). I have heard oil based is best for wood siding, but some people suggest an acrylic based primer is better because it lets the wood breath.

    • @That1Painter
      @That1Painter  Рік тому +1

      Just a standard exterior latex primer will be fine unless you have a difficult spot and you feel oil is absolutely necessary

    What's the best for priming amuminium? Can it be done?

    • @That1Painter

      Aluminum can be primer coated with a metal primer like DTM primer and there’s a few rust killing primers that work well too. However primer coating is usually only necessary the first time the aluminum is being painted if it’s a repaint primer is not usually needed unless peeling or bad rust.
