Paint It Forward - Fort Worth Memorial Day Makeover
Honoring and helping our community is a staple here at That 1 Painter. Every year, each That 1 Painter location helps revamp a property for a family or business in need. This Memorial Day, our Fort Worth location had the honor of working with a nonprofit that helps veterans in need. Our team did a total paint job for a young couple previously serving in the military, but we extended our helping hand beyond painting.
Watch the full video for more details on how else we could give back to this family, and stay tuned to see where our Paint It Forward initiative goes next!

    Do you have to seal it?

    • @PaleRider1
      @PaleRider1 13 днів тому

      You're not going to want to seal it. The main purpose of lime or white washing brick is to allow it to "breathe" as it naturally would. That's why you hear people getting so uptight when talking about painting over brick. Your run-of-the-mill latex paint locks in moisture and causes premature deterioration. I'm no expert, but hope this helps you.

    Really? Slagging off designers as “dishonest,” then saying “whites are a shade?” 😂 My guy, that word does not mean what you think it means. And there is no such thing as “true” anything in a discussion about color. Once again, painters displaying their total lack of understanding about color. Please nobody listen to these dummies.

    I read a lot about white, I try 10 white samples 🤣😅 but the location I am is horrible too choose a wall color. I work in design paint domain many years ago’s but not with Benjamin Moore or Sherwin williams, I read many blog to understand the type of undertones, and company vibe. But I am so happy to try with « samplize » best way to test color. The way people in blog, YT, designer, name it, (all over) describe color in my home, nothing look like that 😆 Pure white look beautiful on the sample, in the home of my friend … but in my home H***F***😅 it’s look like drywall not paint and dingy … I start with 4 theorical wonderful whites, but the reality is nothing look good in that first 4 samples! After that fail, I look the white samples on wall and I move to that, ok this look too dark what is the LRV, ok this look so dingy no with this undertone. I finish to find the right one in that way 😅 I have very good knowledge about paint, design, environnment, undertone and white it’s the more difficult color the choose 😅 I am so happy to finaly check the box to chose a white paint 😆! After that choose the color for doors, island are so simple and only put 3 samples and 15 min after my choose are donne at 95% just verify variation during the day White the light.

    I used the 3/4" WHIZZ version of that polyamide roller on my popcorn ceilings (they had already been painted) and it performed great. It didn't leave any fibers behind and washed out way easier than a microfiber. I haven't used a polyamide roller on my walls though. I'll have to give that a try in the 1/2" version. Thanks for the video!

    I just did limewash indoors and had a hell of a time with it!! 1. The brick is indoors and you can't pressure wash inside a house. So I had to clean the bricks individually with a spray bottle and a rag. Very tedious! Also, you can't just use a big scrub brush with a bucket and clean it like you would a floor or shower because the brick absorbs the dirt that you're scrubbing off if you don't wipe it off right away, and when it absorbs the dirt, it leaves a murky white haze, which wouldn't have been an issue if I was only going for painting it white and wasn't going for the rustic partially revealed brick look. 2. It sets up super fast so it's hard to get it to spray off if you don't do it within the first few minutes of application. 3. With doing it indoors, I made a heck of a mess! Even with putting down plastic and taping it up onto the brick, It caused damage to my hardwood floors, to the point that floor boards popped up. 4. Some bricks were chalky and were bleeding through the limewash and causing the white to turn yellow like pee tinged yellow... yuck! I'm guessing the primer could have helped the situation? However, I didn't have any on hand and had no idea that it existed or that I needed it. 5. Issue with where to remove and the method of doing the removal. Spraying it caused it to run down onto the other brick, and with the brick bleeding, the runs were either yellow or pink from the orange and red brick. I ended up having to leave those bricks mostly exposed, otherwise they would have looked gross, which kinda defeated the look I was going for. 6. The main issue is that I'm inexperienced and had no idea what the hell I was doing. It seemed to work out well for so many others in the youtube videos, but I guess they had good brick to work with in the first place. In my situation it was a brick wall from a chimney. I spent over a full week on 2 small brick walls as all of this caused issues that took so much time to undo, redo, and figure out. Was a very aggravating process!! Do you guys ever run into these kind of issues??????

    If the peel stop is clear, and the color I am covering is dark, relative to the new top coat, shouldn’t I be using a white tinted primer? The peel stop I purchased from Benjamin Moore is clear and I think it states, on the label, that it isn’t tintable .

      You probably have had this answered, but crazy as it sounds, Amazon. Also, it’s worth it to invest in the good Romabio brushes. Those are available at Home Depot. My husband and I applied this to our house four years ago and have had no problems at all. If I remember correctly for the big spaces we just used scrub brushes. We’re getting ready to apply this to a house we just bought and are remodeling. We’re going to use the Masonry Flat this time. But even the regular lime wash was very opaque. We didn’t want the brick to show through and it doesn’t.

Thanks guys ...... and i will say this , they do have good adhesion , probably stick better than many (not all) water based primers , but they DON'T "stainblock" so people need to beware using them as a basecoat .... They'll stick quite well , won't block stains though

    Limewash is great and I've used it alot, not the same as what is often referred to as a mineral paint which is a different product... also amazed you'd put your fingers in the lime mix and not wash it off straight away as it eats skin as it's highly alkaline. Not suitable for contact unless you want bleeding fingers.

    It's not confusing at all. However, your information is disorganized, rambling, and not cohesive. Also an excessively long video. Get to the point. Cut out the banter and small talk. Give us the facts in 2 mins straight. Like this: 3 types of paint: Acrylic (Latex) wall paint, water based. Enamel (source unknown) water based for trim Enamel Oil based, for trim. Primer - Acrylic water based. Can take any paint over it. Primer - Enamel oil based. Can take any paint over it. In fact, when I painted my RV walls, I used Oil based Primer Kilz and then roller brushed latex (acrylic) paint and it held up very well. Walls were 1/8 luan with vinyl wallpaper. I sanded the wall paper then primed and painted. In this case, the oil based primer was better than the water based primer due to plastic walls. No I could not remove the plastic wallpaper as it had structural value..

    Which Centurion are you talking about? 2800? 400? You talk a lot but don't give much information. 2800 needs a catalyst and 400 isn't a polyurethane.
