I had 2 of the velvets that broke. I have to say though Lisa’s customer service team were incredible! They asked me to send photos of the broken lipsticks and shipped out 2 brand new ones free of charge the same day. They are now perfect and I have had no issues x
I also have several of her lipsticks but none of them have broken thankfully. I love her launches and feel her brand is still one of the most exciting and I look forward to new releases. Some shades or items haven’t worked for me and her customer service has been extremely helpful. I personally don’t feel there is anything comparable because she has such nuanced shades. I’ve never been able to pull off super brights and cool tones but her line has made it possible because she has such an artistic eye for color. I’m super interested in trying the dries van noten lipsticks, especially the mattes. They look gorgeous. The lipliner recommendations are also much appreciated
The nuances of color drew me in to her lipsticks originally too. She is very creative and continually comes out with beautiful shades. I'm really glad yours haven't broken! Have a great weekend Yolla!
I agree! FYI, I just got my order today and I am impressed with this launch of the Super Saturated: I chose Sunday Matinee and Strawberry shock, and they are everything I hoped they would be. And like you said, I am able to wear these shades because of her nuance in selection, but it’s this particular formula that is one of the best on the market for my money. I have most of her lipsticks from every launch, in all of the formulas, and I have never had a breakage issue ( I am in the U.S.) So, I say to whoever thinks they might enjoy these, go for it.
Her custumer service is amazing. One of my lipsticks broke and they replaced it. Since then I have had no more problems with them. Yes they are a bit dry, but her colours are the best on the market in my opinion. Her glosses and the Luxuriously Lucent ones are my favorites for my dry lips. I love that her products don’t have fragrance in them, my lips are very sensitive and dont’t like fragrances. I wish more labels would do that.
I’m from the uk, unfortunately all 16 Lisa Eldridge lipsticks I own are now broken! I was initially super impressed with the shades, however I just can’t justify spending £27 on a lipstick that breaks after a few uses! Really shocked with how fragile they are!
I was told by their customer service that the reason they break is because they have so much pigment in, but they don't last on me very well. Plus her stock issues are continually terrible - I've been waiting for a foundation shade to come back in stock for nearly 6 months! She's a great artist, but needs to hand the business side of things over to someone more experienced. Continually having to spend profits replacing broken products is bad practice and shell just end up losing customers
Hi Lexi, first off you look stunning! I have watched your channel from pretty much the beginning and know how hard you supported the LE brand and also how much you enjoy teaching and researching from your former job as a biology teacher. I always feel I learn something in a non dramatic way when I watch your content. I agree that these takeaways needed to be pointed out respectfully as you did. I remember your lipsticks and other people's breaking in earlier videos and took the plunge but haven't used them not only fear of marring them but also bc I was hit with rather high duty that left me kind of soured so there they sit untouched. I also remember the blush packaging problem and I'm sorry you and others experienced this as well. I hope the company improves on their current offerings instead of sending replacements only for the initial problem to happen again. I really respect your opinion and value your pov on other options out there people might not know about. Thank you for sharing your experience and speaking about it. 👏👏

Hi Lexi! I guess I’m in minority here ! I have almost all of Lisa’s lipsticks, most of the shades. Never experienced any breakage. I love her line for her unique shades. She comes up with beautiful and unique shades and I appreciate her for that. Don’t why , but none of mine are broken, although I’m aware of the issue. Dries Van Notten is gorgeous , I love their line as well , and so is Givenchy, but I cherish Lisa’s shades. I always use clear balm under any matte lipstick since my lips are super dry. I do hear you though, you didn’t have great experience ((

It is just that some of us (incl. me) have not had very positive experience with the products and it is totally fine to respectfully point it out which you did in this video. I baby my products because with the shipping to Asia they are very expensive. After arriving I put them in a cool place/not the fridge because I don't like them to sweat/. Still with removing the cap my lipstick fell off. I didn't ask for replacement.

I don’t totally disagree with you. I have had a couple break on me. But I don’t think anyone does color the way LE does. Especially bright colors. Her’s is the only brand that draws me to bright colors. But that’s the beauty of makeup..everyone will experience it differently which is a great thing.
I'm very selective and careful about which items I choose to buy from Lisa Eldridge and that's been the best way for me to enjoy them. If anyone reading this is thinking about it, just really think about what types of formulas and shades are suitable for your life and make sure to look up a lot of reviews.

Great advice! It took a couple years to make a purchase, but I waited until there were shades that were well-reviewed and truly unique to my collection. I'm really happy with my purchases.
I appreciate the honesty from you and everyone commenting. I really think these lipsticks can’t be cranked up so far out of the tube. And I can see with arm swatching the bullet literally bending as you drag them! So of course the bullet gets stressed, and how many times have you swatched these on video? I’m more than half done with Velvet Morning and I turn the bullet up only to the point where the lowest edge meets the rim of the case, no further. Of course if they arrive broken that is another matter. The only issue I had with any of the lipsticks (and I own many) is with Velvet Affair, it had a horrible metallic/iron oxide taste and smell. I mentioned it to customer service, not asking for a refund but they gave me one anyway.
You are right, I think the arm swatching definitely has made a difference with this formula but I am very careful not to press hard or extend the bullet far. I have not had any issues with taste or smell thankfully. They really have great customer service.
I got three Velvet lipsticks from the 2019 Holiday collection and they all broke in weeks (I’m from Northern Europe). They felt kind of wobbly from the beginning so I used them very carefully. I got one Luxuriously Lucent lipstick from this launch because it’s a shade I’ve been looking for a while, hopefully that formula doesn’t have problems. Thanks for the Dries Van Noten recommendation! They seem to have those dark vampy colours that are often difficult to find in luxury brands.

Almost all my Entire Lisa Eldridge lipsticks have broken! I am so glad I’m not the only who has had this experience. I think no one wants to say anything negative about L.E’s products, even if it’s a fact. Thank you for bringing them up. I love her products and I love the customer service they provide… but they brake.
Thank you for sharing! She is a great person and makes some beautiful products but I think packaging changes would really help with several of her items (like these and the blushes).

Hi Lexi! Totally agree with you: these lipsticks DO break. I purchased 4 velvets and 2 of them broke just after a few months. One of my friends had a similar issue, so we are now reluctant about buying new lipsticks from Lisa. Not happy about her cream blushes as well...Great video, as always! :)
Thank you for your honesty and recommendations! I think Lisa makes some gorgeous lipsticks but I feel people's love of her brand and personality makes them hesitant to point out that there are some quality issues with the product. Considering the blushes have yet to be restocked I think she also knows this and is working hard to rectify some of these issues. I hope her team also takes the same level of thought into the lipstick formulas in the future.
My blusher burst from the back after two uses. And the formula was so dry i couldn't use it anyways. But they did refund me which was amazing! I own 6 of her lipsticks and so far, no issue at all!
Thanks for pointing these things out. I feel like there’s so much love for Lisa the artist (I mean, she’s seems like absolutely lovely person, so deservedly so!) that people shy away from pointing out the drawbacks of her signature product. I love mattes and most “velvet” formulas I’ve tried but find it difficult to wear many shades of her lipstick because they feel so, so desert dry. If my lips are chapped at all it’s crazy looking and really unpleasant (and I live in a very dry climate, so that’s most of the year). BUT I keep buying new ones because her VISION! It is so darn compelling!!
I know exactly what you mean! That's why I have always bought all of her lipsticks! Her vision always calls to me and I get so easily persuaded by her videos. They are undoubtedly lovely on her and her models but I am focusing on other lipsticks until these go through an update.

@@LexiJong I have a sad confession. She didn't have a sale, others did, so I spent my money on skin care products instead. I will shop Lisa's lipsticks later. I looked at the Dutch brand but although they looked lovely, they'll be almost 70 e each with the case. A bit too much for a lipstick. So still Lisa on my list.
I have experienced breakage with all my LE velvet lipsticks. I have tons of lipsticks and I am very careful not to twist it up too far. Velvet Duchess broke within a week and her customer care team kindly replaced this and two more, after sending pictures. For Velvet Jazz and Velvet Ribbon, this was the second replacement. They claimed that the lipsticks have very high concentration of pigment, which causes damage during transport that may not be visible from the start. Honestly, I believe it’s the warmer weather in Greece.
I think I must have been very lucky because none of my LE lipsticks have broken (I have 5). I have purchased one of the new shades. Fortunately, all of her products suit me, especially the foundation as my skin is very shiny following SPF application. It’s good that you have alternatives.
Thanks Lexi for this video - I’ve had very similar issues with LE products. I found that her velvet lipsticks emphasized lines and as pretty as her colors looked in the tube, most of them had too warm an undertone for me - a lot just looked orange, a problem I also have with Charlotte Tilbury. The LE foundation also did not work for me - both in tone and formula. Yesterday, I ordered only one lipstick from her new launch in the luxuriously lucent Rosy Shell as that is the one formula of hers I have not yet tried and the color looks mostly cool toned - but I promised myself this was a last chance try of her products. I, too, love the Givenchy, Guerlain, Chanel, and Dries Van Noten lip products and also Valentino. There are indeed many choices out there now. I hope you have better luck with Rosy Shell. It looks like a beautiful color but I agree that it is hard to tell until you try it on. I forgot about the Valentino but their recent nude shades are gorgeous! Such a great suggestion Wendy!
I live in the UK, have most of her lipsticks and over 50% of them broke, I melted them and put them in the palette. I have to say that the velvets aren’t my favorites, some of them skipping on my lips and loads of them are emphasising lip lines. They are dry too. My favorites are Skyscraper Rose and Velvet Carnival. I would definitely repurchase those, especially Velvet Carnival is super unique in my collection. I have to say that Lisa’s customer service is amazing. Once I commented under her post that I love the colours but the breakage needs to be looked into it and they immediately contacted me and replaced the ones that were broken - even though some were bought a year before. I totally agree with the Givenchy lipsticks - I prefer that formula too.
@@LexiJong Not sure but they told me that they were aware of the problem and working on it. For me her previous collection was the first one when I didn’t buy anything. I went to her pop up store in London to see the colours in real life and I didn’t like any of them. I didn’t buy her foundation either.
Hey Lexi, love this post. Yesterday, I finally bought my first ever Lisa Eldrige lipstick haul. I saw Strawberry Shock and to me, it looked liked an orange based red and Lisa actually confirmed that it was not. I bought it along with the magenta, the nude pink (forget the name) and the Je Ne Sais Quoi sheer coral color. I will be on the lookout for breakage. I did not get the rainbow spill, and Skyscraper rose bc, I have a Hermes color and a few Mac colors that could be quite similar. Anyway....this is a very helpful post and I will let you know what I think. Your post is greatly appreciated. I will also consider the Dries as I do love his clothes as well. The design of his bullets are awesome. I have some of his clothes. LOVE him.

@@ultraviolettas Strawberry Shock is not a strawberry red. It is a coral red - a bright, warm, coral red. Everything else about the lipstick formulation and wear time was great. The photos on the site look like an orange red and that is very true to the color. If that is what you want, it is a great color. I was just expecting it to be a strawberry red, but it is not. The other colors I got were beautiful - Je Ne Sais Quoi is a very nice coral, Sunday Mantinee is a very pretty pink and I love New Wave. I would not have bought Strawberry Shock had I known. Even Lisa said it was not a warm/orange red. It is not a yellow red. I would have been better off getting Skyscraper Rose or Velvet Ribbon. I love blue, yellow and pink reds. Don’t get me wrong, a great orange red is wonderful, but I don’t want orange based reds. Strawberry red resonated with me especially since Lisa is so particular with her color pigments.

I love Lisa as a person and I am in awe of her work but the products weren’t anything special in my opinion. How buildable would you say the newer Luxuriously Lucent formula is? Velvet cinnabar was my first LE purchase in the fall, and I haven’t had an issue with breakage. She says not to twist the lipsticks up more than you need to which may have helped me. I got sucked in by her video and color descriptions and bought Le Mépris, Night Thoughts (even though I was pretty sure it will be close to Chanel Noir Moderne which I already have) and then Velvet Midnight as I’ve been doing more vampy looks lately. I wish the bright reds and corals looked good on me. I am still mourning being 2 years late to the LE party and missing out on the Go Lightly lipstick!! 😭
I'm so glad you haven't had any issues with yours. I would say the the lucent formula is buildable yet always sheer. It will never build to a true satin or opaque finish. Certain shades look more like a tinted balm on the lips. I have a video with swatches of all of them until this launch and you can see how they build on my arms and lips. I’m so sorry this happened to you and others with LE. I only have Velvet Ribbon and the coordinating lip liner. I’ve had them for a year or so, but I’ve only worn Velvet Ribbon maybe three times - mainly around the holidays. I appreciate you sharing because I was thinking of purchasing more soon. I’ve had no issues with gorgeous Givenchy Deep Velvet in #36 and #37, L’Interdit and Rouge Grainé. I’d love to try Guerlain’s Legendary Reds, but I haven’t been wearing reds often enough to invest. Certainly Guerlain or Dries van Noten will remain on my wishlist. Again, thank you, Lexi, for sharing. I know it took courage to make this video, as we all love Lisa. Hopefully these issues will get resolved. You are truly a class act.💐
Stumbled upon this video when searching of "lisa eldridge lip pencil broken" haha. I've been a fan of the brand for a long time now, but never bought any of the lip products and when I did - the lip pencil arrived broken. The whole tip was sticking out when it arrived. I was confused if this is how it is supposed to look like, but when pressed against my lips, if fell back in. However, I trun and turn the other side and the tip does not want to come out. So it is not only the lipsticks, the lip pencils also seem broken. I think I am going to stick with the liquid lurex eyeshadows and the foundation only. Thank you for sharing your experience!

The swatches of other brands with similar shades, formulations etc were great and I loved seeing them. Thank you Lexi for always being so honest about the products you try! I too am not interested in LE products; I bought her initial lipstick/lipliner/gloss combo a few years back and they were all so orange on me! I couldn't figure it out. I also despise the foundation she released. Wanted to send it back but would have to pay for shipping so I'm forcing myself to get through it. Her products are just not for me.
Hi, Lexi; thank you so much for the alternatives (especially the point about using lip liners instead!). I finally bought three Velvet lipsticks last year, and I absolutely love them. Always stored them upright, never took it outside in my bag, but I got breakage. :( Of the three I ordered, only one didn’t break, but that might be because I hadn’t used it as much as the other ones! In the end I ended up depotting them into Vuesets. Unfortunate because I absolutely love the luxurious feeling of putting on a lipstick from the tube, but I also didn’t mind as much because at least the magnets didn’t keep the tubes fighting with each other.
I own a lot of the lipsticks and none broke. Not even my oldest one, Velvet Ribbon, which I purchased when she launched her Reds. I am not very delicate with the lipsticks, they are lying in my drawer, I toss them in my handbag ... and I use them daily. I am 46 years old and they are not drying on me. I love how long lasting the Velvets are. And I have to say they suit my complexion. I am very fair and cool toned and I wear Fawn, Ribbon, Morning, Decade ... the undertones are great. I do own two Luxurious and they are great for everyday. The glosses yet ... perfection. Nourishing and quite some colour. I never used up lipsticks but these ... I do.
Thanks for this video🙂You are the first person I've heard speaking about this issue and it's a relief to know I'm not the only one. I love LE, and her lipsticks, but from the six I own, I've had issues with two. Velvet Myth snapped six months ago. It snapped right off the base after applying a normal amount of pressure (in a way that indicated it was dry as a bone). I was kind of shocked, particularly because I had only used it maybe four times. At that point I checked my other lipsticks and they were all fine apart from Velvet Ribbon. There I noticed that two small holes had developed on the top of the lipstick, where it actually touches the lips. When I went to use it a month ago, I noticed that it has now developed a larger hole down the side on the velvet patterning. I did consider contacting the company to let them know, but I have had the lipsticks for two years now and these issues can happen. I suppose I was just surprised they happened with LE lipsticks. They are still beautiful and luxurious, but it has definitely taken the shine off them, as I am now wondering if the same will happen to the others and that is no pleasure when reaching for them😕 All my lipsticks are stored well (dark, cool drawer), I am always mindful not to twist the bullet up too far, and I truly use a normal pressure when applying. I additionally rarely use them full stop, so it's not as if I can use that as a possible reason for breakage. Five of my lipsticks are the Velvet formula (Myth, Ribbon, Morning, Jazz and Dragon) and I also own Skyscaper Rose in the Insanely Saturated formula. I am curious to know how things will progress with those lipsticks and although I am still open to trying her Lusciously Lucent formula, I would be wary of buying a Velvet lipstick again. It's honestly a relief to know others have had issues as well 👍🏻
Hi Lexi, thanks for sharing your experience! I was a careful buyer at first, but ended up buying more and more products with every new release. None of my lipsticks broke, however, I had issues with the blush packaging. While trying to press out the tiniest amount (as advised), it just exploded from the back side. I decided to reach out to the LE team and share my feedback on packaging, and they were kind enough to gift me a certificate for the next purchase of any product, as the blushes were out of stock. As for foundation, I had some struggles during winter time when my skin was on a dry side (will be testing it again with a heavier facecream next winter), but really enjoy applying it in summer even with a lightweight moisturizer. This is my story with Lisa Eldridge products. I will definitely continue purchasing her new launches, as I really enjoy the products and entire consumer journey despite some of the little flaws. I strongly believe that the team and Lisa herself are working very hard on every product and details, and listed and gather feedback to improve.

I noticed how far down the breakage was on that tube of lipstick. I don't have that much of the lipstick sticking up. I'm 77 and a half an inch is about what I've had up for the past 60 years! 🤗
I can stand behind your reasons for not buying more LE lipsticks. I love her as a person and a makeup artist but I have been somewhat underwhelmed by her lipsticks that I wanted to love sooo much. I've also experienced breakage with the velvet formula and for such price it shouldn't even be an issue. As for the Luxuriously Lucent I only own Go Lightly but I must say the colour in the real life is miles away from the colour of Audrey's lipstick in 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' - it pulls much more neon pink on me and the formula is very unforgiving if you have any dry patch or flakiness on your lips. At times it would just emphasize my lip lines horribly as well as dryness that I didn't even know I had. So, all in all, whenever Lisa comes out with another launch I try to remember these cons, because for that price I really want to be impressed.

Thanks for this video. I must have maybe 20 of her lipsticks . Yes my fav is velvet ribbon hands down and even velvet jazz . I have had no breakage yet. I wonder if the dry formula has something to do with that. Yesterday was Lisa’s launch date and we here in Canada had a huge internet outage that millions were without internet service so I did not get any. I really was not planning on rushing thru to get some so best the outage happened . Now my huge issue with Lisa Eldridge is shipping. We are heavily gouged by shipping and duties that you need to stop and think is this worth it? I have plenty of lipsticks that I really do not need more but her colours do look pretty. Thanks for the info on the other lipsticks. Not sure a availability on the one brand you mentioned but I do have some Givenchy and Guerlain and yes they are very nice. The reds violet tear came out with are pretty but they are all warm reds and those are not my fav. I may need to wait and see if she comes out with cooler ones. Thanks for sharing .
Yes the shipping and duties to Canada are insane! It's hard to justify a purchase with those fees. I hope they can figure out a way to alleviate some of the costs. Oh! I have never had any break. I am in the UK though. I love them and the liners and glosses. My skin is drier and if there is any flakes of dry skin the foundation will find them but I think its better for oily and normal skin. I like the highlight, ordering pink moon and hoping it works with my pale complexion.
I appreciate your honesty & that your really put a lot of care & thought into every review. I’m a huge Lisa Eldridge fan but I must admit that most of the times I buy her lipsticks because I love her work & the inspirations behind her shades (especially when they’re related to art & history). And even though I fortunately haven’t experienced breakage with my lipsticks (my mom sadly has) I find that her lighter shades most of the times end up being much darker & warmer than I expected so I don’t really end up using them, and in this recent launch I feel like many shades seem quite similar to other shades in her range so it didn’t really excite me, I might get one or two lipsticks but I think I might prefer trying some lipsticks from Dries Van Noten or Gucci. Such a great video. I like the fact that you can talk about something you don't like without drama and provide some altenatives. I only have one of the velver lipsticks (Decade) and so far I haven't had any issues but let's see how it ages; I find the shade very flattering and unique. I will probably get some of the new releases. I just like the way Lisa Eldridge describes the shades and inspiration behind it; I find it very inspiring!
It is my belief that some people are a little bit more rough with their lipstick than others. You do large swatches, reason why I do love you, and multiple swatches of your lipsticks, and maybe that could be the reason why they come unglue. I own three of her lipsticks and they haven't broken, but I am very careful, and only open them a bit. We need to remember that lipsticks are made of wax. Another situation could be the room where the lipsticks are kept. If the room gets too hot during the day that could be a factor for sure. What I didn't like was the foundation. I have normal to dry skin and I found it to be too drying for me, although I did love the finish. LS customer service was courteous, and they did refund my money after two months of purchase. The Van Noten lipsticks are beautiful, but the price is double. Something to consider. I find Lisa's to be creamy and very long lasting. Cinnabar is one of my favorites. I also find the lip liners to be very long lasting. Also, one of my favorite formulas. Thank you for not being afraid to voice your concerns. I truly appreciate them. You're fast becoming one of my favorite UA-camrs, and your honesty is one of the reasons I trust you. Thank you.
I completely agree - there are so many variables that factor into how the lipsticks break and I am sure that my swatching doesn't help. Unfortunately, I don't really have this problem with other brands so I hope they can figure out a way to make them a bit sturdier. I’m glad someone public finally said something because my Lisa Eldridge lipsticks broke too. I reached out to their customer service they said they don’t break. They said I was possibly too rough with them. Instead of owning up to the extremely dry formula they denied it. Also I would wear the lipstick all day and it dries out your lips so much it would hurt my lips and my lips are not sensitive about anything. I love other products from her but the velvets are drying and drying and not pleasant as I expected. I hope the formula changes in the future.

I still love my Lisa Eldridge lipsticks, but excited to try the Dries van Noten lipsticks. I’ve never heard of the brand so thank you!
I haven't broken any of my bullets, but I'm not interested in buying any new shades because the colors never appear the way I expect from the swatches and descriptions! I don't actually want to wear any of the colors I have. A bit fed up with that.
Same here. They look pretty in the tube but make me look sallow :'( and my skin is beautiful English Rose kind of skin. Very fair neutral. Something in the undertone.The doesn't work for me.
I too am fed up but keep giving her a change...i did give in to the recent Berlin and Night thoughts. I have at least 10 of her lipsticks and never wear them. The undertone just looks off on me.... and some are so much brighter than I expected. I have purchased the highlighter, just ok removes my foundation, the blushes and the packaging exploded blush everywhere, and her foundation seemed too trying and I couldn't find a shade. @lexi I love the alternatives you've provided!
Same. No breakage but I'm afraid to buy her lipticks right away anymore without seeing them actually on other people's lips now because I've had the same disappointment. I think I wanted to trust her when she says things like "looks beautiful across all skin tones" but that's just not true. Basically most of her lighter shades don't look good on me and tend to pull too peachy orange. It could be that I don't understand my own skin under/tones well enough, but even though I'm a light-medium cool to neutral (I think!) I now look at that really fair skinned blonde model for any hint of peachy orange even though she's way lighter than I am since I can see the orangey presence more easily. I did notice in her video for this recent launch though that when she flashed the collage of photos of the shade on all her models that it looked way darker on all of them than on her, which could be the lighting, heavier/fuller application, etc. That being said, I really want Night Thoughts but think I could achieve it by sheering out shades I already own. Although I enjoy and appreciate the evocative way she explains her inspiration for her lipstick shades tremendously, that doesn't really help me understand if it'll work on my coloring or not. I need a practical guide like "this is too light and/or warm for light-med cool/neutral skin". Also, I know it's too challenging since there's so much variety in people's natural lip color but it took me way too long to figure out that also changes the way lipstick will read on me compared to someone else lol!
I have about 12 of her lipsticks and I have never had one break! That’s so interesting that you, and others, seem to have had that problem. The blushes in the other hand…..I had an awful time with 2 or 3 of them. I never contacted the company (I probably should have, but I didn’t know if they would do anything about it, at the time). I do like the blushes I have and that came out of the tube easily. And I also love the highlighter, glosses, lip liners and foundation. However, I agree that I probably won’t purchase many (or any) more of her lipsticks. I have had issues with the colors not being what I thought they might be, despite watching the videos and scouring the internet for swatches. I guess that they can be different because of screen coloring, undertones, etc, but it’s still enough to cause me to not order a shade unless I’m certain it will work for me. I thought this might have been a me problem! I went to use them this summer and found I couldn’t get them out of the tube like I could in the beginning. I have to unclog the applicator. Now that I know it isn’t just me I will let her customer service reps know. They should know that her blushes need to repackaged if launched again.

I heard Lisa say in her reveal video that the mattes had more pigment, which is obvious :). Without as much of the binder, breakage will follow. It’s like that dry texture of an icing that has too much chocolate and not enough butter 🤓 I haven’t ever had a break in mine, but I tend to dab them on or apply with a lip brush because I don’t want the full intense color anyway (so why did I buy them? 🤷🏻♀️😆). The lucent formula OTOH is my favorite ever! 👍🏽❤️

I was put off ordering by the breakage but as I love what I currently have of Lisa Eldridge (her glosses, lip liners, 2 liquid eyeshadows, foundation), I took the plunge yesterday & got a luxuriously lucent & an insanely saturated. The shades are both ones I don't have in my collection & different. Fingers crossed they don't break, I'm in the UK. Understand why you're not ordering more, I'd be raging if that happened with a Chanel lipstick for example, not acceptable!

I agree about the breakage! About a third of the ones I own are broken. I haven't purchased from the new launch and not sure I will. However Fawn is hands down the best nude. I'm almost out of it and may have to get another one which means I'll have to take my chances with it arriving broken.
Fawn is gorgeous! It doesn't look great on me but I love it on other people. Sometimes it is worth the risk for a great shade. I haven't found a dupe for it yet.
I've experienced some breakage as well and I'm in the UK. My velvet Petal broke. The most annoying thing I find though is the colours never seem to match what is on screen. The matte ones often have a grey undertone to them which isn't flattering. I find the lip liners match the colour better though.
The lip liners are very pretty colors and I agree that the tones seem different. I think it is very hard distinguishing the colors on the screen as well. I have been surprised by a few!
I had a brake on my velvet muse, but i mailed them, they asked me to send a photo to verify probably and they send me a new one instead with no other question! I have more shades with no problem, and am gonna buy in the future! Love her artistry, products, vibe, whole beauty line... 😍

That must have something to do with transportation. I’m from Asia and never had any issues with any of them breaking. That said, I really appreciate the other recommendations!
Hi Lexi, I too have bought something from every Lisa Eldridge launch because I adore her and her products are good. But the reason why I didn't buy anything this launch was because I just don't wear them! They sit in my collection and I simply never grabbed for them. And yes, the matte formula has broken on me too. Lipsticks that I love and look forward to wearing are Giorgio Armani Beauty lip power, Sisley Paris Phyto-Rouge Shine in Sheer Blossom, Chantecaille lip chic in Jarul and Bourbon Rose, and Clinique Pop Reds in Roses are Red.

Thank you for the comparison video you’ve done Lexi. Lisa’s lipsticks may not be perfect however I would have enjoyed your video so much more if you hadn’t made so much negative comments on Lisa Eldridge’s lipsticks. I have used many different top of the line lipstick brands and found her formula’s to be very authentic. Breakage may be an issue to some but rather than focusing on the negatives I’d rather focus on the positive such as her lipsticks are not only moisturizing but they also have great staying power. This is because they leave a beautiful subtle stain on the lips. In addition, no matter one’s skin tone the lipsticks just look amazing on everyone. Please… let’s build each other up not take down.🌺

I don’t think she was being negative.I have almost all of L.E’s lipsticks and no kidding at least 80% of them have broken. I was wondering why no one ever mentions them. Yes we all love L.E, but let’s be honest, they’ve been breaking.
Lexi, I have had the same experience with her lipsticks. I absolutely love her Velvets line and I have a LOT of them, but at least 4 of them have broken. I adore Lisa so I’ll probably continue to support her by buying her products but I do hope that she fixes this problem because these lipsticks are quite pricey.
I live in Canada and have 5 Velvet lipsticks and 2 Lucent lipsticks, and none of these are broken, but I read about this issue, and I hope it will be fixed. I like the Lucent ones better because the Velvets can be a bit dry, proper lip hydration helps me solve this problem though. The Lucent lipsticks are buildable which gives control over their application and the end result. I don't find them oily but creamy. I like Lisa's shades, she is an amazing artist who plays so well with cool and warm undertones and creates unique shades suitable for a lot of skin tones. I agree that the pictures can be a bit misleading, and some research is needed before ordering online. I wasn't familiar with DVN and googled them. For the price of CAD$75 (refillable at CAD$45) plus CAD$20 international shipping, I will pass.
I have a similar problem with Pat McGrath lipsticks. The inner white tubes crumble and makes it hard to roll up. Not worth the price. Not experienced this with Lisa's lipsticks.
I have the same problem with Pat McGrath lipsticks. I have found that the newer shine formula in the pink tubes have been much better but I stopped buying her lipsticks also.
This was the first Lisa launch that I didn't buy anything from. I own 11 of her lipsticks, never had any issues with any of them, but I simply don't feel like I need any of the shades she released this time. I was contemplating Je Ne Sais Quoi, but figured it was too similar to Dance Card (which I already own). Dabbing a bit of Velvet Morning before applying Dance Card gives the exact same shade (at least judging from Lisa's video and web site photos). Sunday Matinee was another I initially had interest in, but it's just too similar to Velvet Petal. I was a bit let down by Atomic Cherry (as you described, I also find the newer shades of Luxuriously Lucents don't have the same pigmentation and formula as Love of my Life). Also... I wrote to the customer service, requesting comparison swatches... and they just sent me pictures of the new shades, without comparisons to Dance Card or Velvet Petal, they said I can find swatches of those shades on her IG... which I find a bit shady.
That's a shame that they wouldn't provide you with swatches but perhaps the person responding did not have access to the products at the time. Maybe if you dm them on instagram or leave a message on one of their posts, they will do comparisons. I think that would be very helpful! Hi Lexi! Thank you very much for your honesty. I have bought a lot of LE lipsticks, luckily never had the issues you mentioned (I am living in europe) and I love the formula. But this does not matter, unfortunately you had a different experience and I think it is admirable that you share your experience. Btw I will def try dries van noten, it is on my wishlist 💚
I also decided not to buy these anymore though for different reasons - none of mine broke but maybe because I never use them. I almost felt like I had to buy them as a makeup enthusiast to support her but I find that even though the colors seem nice, but doesn’t translate well on my lips. The velvet feels too dry and thick for me and the other formulas I find to be nothing special. Therefore I never reach for them sadly. There’re just so superior formulas on the market (I much prefer the Gucci, Givenchy and the Sephora lipstories) and I can’t justify spending this much money only for patronage and not use them. I did purchase one new Lisa Eldridge lipstick because I ordered two Rose Official LE lipsticks and am still enjoying them. One lives in my purse and one in my desk drawer. I’m sorry to hear about this problem, and I know you have been completely honest from day one of launching your channel. I trust you and your reviews, and if you aren’t a fan of a product launch, I generally stay away. I wouldn’t touch the blush! That was a nightmare for almost every user. I will let you know what this new LE lipstick is like. You do look stunning today. I need to avoid any dry formulas, because I suffer from extremely dry lips and need to rehydrate and treat them daily. I do have several Sisley sheer lipsticks - and love them. I also love the lip oil from Hermes in Rose Kola. The oil is great salve for my dry lips. Thanks Lexi!

I love how Lisa builds up her colors but I will look into other brands to see what else is out there. p.s. I've been watching many videos of yours lately. I think that the camera picks out when you don't apply your lipstick well. It's a minor detail but that will make great videos even better.
I hope you contacted them for a refund or replacement! I had issues too with the blush packaging but they refunded me for them. Lisa Eldridge actually contacted me to get my thoughts on how they should package them in the future so hopefully they will be fixing that issue.
I own most of Lisa’s lipsticks as I really love all the formulas and her quality and shades are second to none. I have never experienced any breakages but I don’t do arm swatches or anything like that so that probably helps.-M
Same. I have almost every color and have worn her lipsticks daily for a few years now with no issues and I take them with me in my purse and when I travel.
Also I love Dris Von Noten (which YOU made me buy and I love them) and the Givenchy ones but they don't replace the Lisa Eldridge ones for me I don't know why. There's something about them which give me joy and fit my lips so well. The Dris von Noten ones come second. They are gorgeous
I'm so glad you love them! There was something special about the Lisa Eldridge velvets that I feel won't really ever be replaced but I think for me, part of that is the fact that they were first and they were innovative. At least there are some good options though!
Have many of Lisa’s lipsticks across her range of formulas - have never had any break. Her customer service is superb - had a cream blush that I couldn’t get out of the tube - they sent me another immediately and thanked me for alerting them of the problem - sales associates were very focused on quality control. Love her products and her price point is quite different for the Dries Van Noten if you buy the case as well as the refill.
I completely agree that her customer service is top notch! I'm very glad yours haven't broken. The dries van noten are more expensive with the cases for sure but I included some at other price points as well and depending upon where viewers are residing, the duties may cause the dries van noten to be more cost effective than the lisa eldridge lipsticks. I disagree. I own every single product Lisa’s ever launched and never had a problem. I own Guerlain and Givenchy lipsticks too but they do not compare. For me personally her formula, packaging, customer service, and undertones are unmatched in the industry
I bought the very first trio of LE's lipsticks. I'm from the Philippines. Took more than a week to get here. They didn't break on me, even now. And I bring them around, in my bag or in a pouch in my bag. The only fault I experienced with the True Velvet, it really needs a highly moisturized lips, specially for the Velvet Morning. But manageable, just need to prep my lips. In general, I would probably prefer buying Maybellines tube lipsticks because of the color range and also the feel. However, the manufacturing process for LE's products is highly preferable!
That's fantastic to hear! I agree that Lisa Eldridge's manufacturing process and attention to detail with the ingredients is preferable. I really love how everything is fragrance free in particular. That is so hard to find!

Glad to have come across your video! I seem to be the only one who doesn't like LE's lipsticks. I have only two (Rose Official and Velvet Blush Lightly) and a lip liner (Blush Lightly) and I am glad I didn't buy more. They don't break on me, but they dry out my lips. Especially with Velvet Blush Lightly I find myself constantly flicking my tongue over the inner part of my lips (allergic reaction?). The texture makes my lips look aged, the colour looks chalky and flat matte. I wish I were exaggerating, but I'm not, have been trying to make it work for weeks. Could be that one colour, though. Unfortunately I don't find that the liner to Blush Lighly matches the lipstick colour either. It is more brickish/tomato sauce orangy-red than the lipstick, even after setting and oxidization. Givenchy's velvets (especially the sheer velvets) on the other hand are so amazing! Comfortable, light, non-drying with blurring effect. Yes to that!
I don't think the liners match that well either. Lisa has mentioned they are meant to be a darker version to add depth but particularly blush lightly seems off. Some of the others are more true to color imo. I'm so glad you love the Givenchy velvets!
I adore lisa eldridge! If I've ever had any problems her customer service is quick to remedy the situation. Never have had an issue with her lipsticks, highlighters, or foundation. I did have an issue with a blush but they took care of the problem asap.
Hi Lexi, I have commented here before, but I decided to come back after having tested the Guerlain velvets. First I would like to say that in my opinion Guerlain is an amazing brand and perfume house. I think many of their classic perfumes are like symphonies in their own right. However, I have tried and tested four of the velvets on different days, the Rouge du Tigre (1830), the 555, 885 and 940. Honestly I found them all pretty drying. I kept putting on more but that didn’t help and as time went by my lips seemed to get even dryer with these on. Surprisingly the pigmentation was what was really disappointing for me. It didn’t matter how much I packed on, it just wasn’t working. And I really did want it to work. That’s why I kept going back and tested four different shades. What one expects from a lipstick is personal and I hear that your experience was different. However, in my opinion the Guerlain lipsticks don’t even come close to Lisa’s lipsticks in terms of pigmentation or creaminess. Lisa’s lipsticks may not be cheap but considering the fact that the cases have to be purchased separately for the Guerlain lipsticks and they are expensive as well, I wouldn’t even consider buying a Guerlain velvet at this point. I should also mention that I own most of Lisa’s shades except a couple exceptions and not one of them was ever broken. So I’m team Lisa all the way.
I'm so sorry to hear the Guerlain lipsticks didn't work for you. They work very well for me but everyone is different and skin chemistry really can make a huge difference. I'm glad the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks are a good match for you!
I'm passing on this launch too, I haven't experienced any breakage but there's really only 1 new shade I'm interested in, and to pay the duties and fees it requires to ship to my country would just be too expensive. Appreciate the video!
I bought her lipsticks and had to return them, I don’t know what it is about the formula but my lips get so dry with them, like they suck out moisture from my lips. Maybe my skin doesn’t agree with some ingredients there. I don’t have particularly dry lips so most likely a disagreement between my body and the formula. I think it’s great she accepts returns.
I completely agree - her customer service and policies are very fair and she definitely thought about her customers and the disadvantages of online shopping when she set everything up.
I thought it was just me so watching this video has made me feel better, thank you. I have had the same issue with more recent purchases. I love her lipsticks. The colors are gorgeous but as you point out, they break. The company is amazing at replacing but you're right... why not find out what is causing the problem and fix it. In addition, recently they had some kind of email compromise issue where orders were completely stopped and delayed. Something to do with the sample card provided free to their customers. I'm honestly not sure if they are sending me my order or if it's stuck. Anyway, thank you for providing all the other possibilities, I think I'm going to give them a try.
Somewhere out there... you just know someone is putting their lipsticks in the freezer to avoid breakage. Jokes aside this is a very fair point to bring up. Little annoying things may be acceptable in cheaper products especially if they have good performance otherwise. In luxury there shouldn't be a consistent issue like this though. Still fair for people to buy them if they want, but I respect your decision and how you present this as only your opinion.
I have 10 LE lipsticks in different formulas. Three of them broke - two velvets and one insanely saturated. Insanely saturated broke when my package arrived so it was probably issue with transport. Velvets broke when I used them. I am always very careful putting them but it's annoying that her lipsticks are so fragile. It's hard to choose shades for me looking only at computer photos. Last time I bought Cinnabar Velvet. It looks on the models like a vibrant foxy, orangy, pumpkin red but on me it's more muted and brown. This time I decided to skip new shades.

All of my velvet lipsticks break after 5-6 uses. I continue using them by sticking them back on but if I could find a similar alternative I would stop buying LE
I very much appreciate this video, particularly at a time when I'm resisting her latest release (which is a huge struggle for me because she's such a persuasive brand-owner, lol). I use matte/satin lipsticks with a very light hand (one swipe and blend), so I don't have breakage problems. What I realised after collecting quite a few LE lipsticks is that they seemed very special at the time when I bought them (I LOVED hearing about each shade was conceived and Lisa is a fantastic narrator), but after I used them, the shades are not any more special than those from other brands in my collection. In fact, because I have an olive undertone, some LE shades can look strange on me (Fawn gives me corpse lips, and Morning is neon on me). So what I try now is to resist the FOMO, and wait until I see the new shades tested on reviewers with similar colouring to me before I make my decision to purchase.

I was interested in your comment because I also have an olive undertone. I have a light skin tone and am neutral leaning warm with some olive (in her foundation I’m #9), and Fawn and Morning are some of my best shades. I think it must depend on the overall complexion. None of my lipsticks have broken (I have most of them) but I understand it’s been an issue for others. I also use a light hand. I think for any brand, it will fit some people better than others and that’s okay. I also appreciate the video :)
Lexi, that’s very interesting I have not noticed the breaking but maybe because I do not use them a lot I have so many lipsticks. But I’m glad you pointed it out so I can be on the lookout. It is humid in the summer but I keep the air conditioning on so the house is not humid. We actually monitor the humidity levels constantly because we have wooden floors everywhere. Her pop up looked so nice! I wish i could have gone to it.

I purchased a LE lip gloss, the colour is nice but it changes shade and the shine wears off very quickly. Also it doesn't stay on the lips for long. I have the impression that her formula are still experimental and probably not fully tested yet. By the way, I love your Dries van Noten lipstick collection in the background of your video!
What do you do to lipsticks to break them? I’ve been putting on lipstick for a looong time, but I must say I never experienced “breakage” because I treat them as a delicate thing. I have LE and a bunch from all the “alternatives” you offer… and I’ve never had one break. Do you think your application may be the issue? I don't typically have lipsticks that break. These were the first ever (and I have only had one other lipstick break out of hundreds) and at first I thought it was just me until I heard from others as well. I am respectfully sharing my experience here with some alternatives in case it is helpful but this is of course, just my opinion and experience. I think Lisa Eldridge herself is an amazing makeup artist and her customer service is top-notch but I try to objective and not let my admiration for the artist interfere with my objectivity of her products. Hi Lexi, I have three lipsticks from Lisa and two glosses. I love the glosses. The two velvet lipsticks are a little drying on me but haven't broken and the other one which is not velvet hasn't broken either. I had an issue with the liquid blush which wouldn't come out after a while and I told them and was refunded in minutes. They have one of the best Customer Services I have ever found, very polite and helpful. But I am also not getting any lipsticks this time as I have ordered some Givenchy ones and am expecting them soon.

Hi Lexi. My velvet fawn lipstick broke after the first application. My heart broke with the bullet! I have to use it with a lip brush now. Unfortunately my twin boys were playing in my room and happened to reach all of my LE lipsticks on my display. They opened them all and must’ve heard me walking back to my room and closed the lids before winding them back down. I had no idea what they were up to until I decided to wear one of them a few days later and to my horror discovered all of the broken and smooshed inside the bullet. At the time I wanted to cry but now I just laugh about it 🤣
Oh no! I'm so sorry! That has happened to me with a few lipsticks too. Kids are just too curious! Lol. I'm glad you can laugh about it now. It is definitely devastating in the moment though.
What was your experience with glosses? I only had one , and it was gloopy , and i also think i had a bad batch. :( also so compelled by her videos and story for everything she releases, but started to cool off a little. Haven't like the foundation for example, and i did not order it based on the swatch.
I have all of her glosses and I have one or two that are a bit gloopy but the majority of them are a very nice sheer gloss. They are similar in texture to the Sisley glosses which are my favorite but I feel like the Sisley formula feels a little lighter and more refined on my lips. Overall, I think her glosses are nice but not a must-have. I find that I reach for others more like the hermes lip oils, sisley glosses, and givenchy liquid lip balms.
I am sorry to hear that Lexie, probably something to do with the formula. I have heard from others that it can be prone to breaking. Mine have so far been intact. Hope they remain that way.
Great video, Lexi. I own a few of Lisa’s lipsticks, but they are all in great shape and I use them every day. When I apply her lipsticks-or any lipstick-I don’t use much pressure or twist the lipstick up very high. I noticed that you applied a lot of pressure when you swatched lipsticks and wonder if that pressure may have contributed to breakage-though you noted that one of Lisa’s lipsticks arrived broken. In theory, however, lipsticks should be able to withstand daily wear and tear. I live in New York and probably received Lisa’s lipsticks from the same US warehouse.
Yes it is possible swatching caused more damage and it does require a little more pressure than what I use on my lips but I feel they should be able to withstand it if other brands are able to hold up. I think what needs to happen to prevent breakage (for others too) is that the packaging should be more of a slim style stylo like the Dior Forever Rouge lipsticks.

I had 2 of the velvets that broke. I have to say though Lisa’s customer service team were incredible! They asked me to send photos of the broken lipsticks and shipped out 2 brand new ones free of charge the same day. They are now perfect and I have had no issues x

I also have several of her lipsticks but none of them have broken thankfully. I love her launches and feel her brand is still one of the most exciting and I look forward to new releases. Some shades or items haven’t worked for me and her customer service has been extremely helpful. I personally don’t feel there is anything comparable because she has such nuanced shades. I’ve never been able to pull off super brights and cool tones but her line has made it possible because she has such an artistic eye for color.
I’m super interested in trying the dries van noten lipsticks, especially the mattes. They look gorgeous. The lipliner recommendations are also much appreciated
The nuances of color drew me in to her lipsticks originally too. She is very creative and continually comes out with beautiful shades. I'm really glad yours haven't broken! Have a great weekend Yolla!
I agree! FYI, I just got my order today and I am impressed with this launch of the Super Saturated: I chose Sunday Matinee and Strawberry shock, and they are everything I hoped they would be. And like you said, I am able to wear these shades because of her nuance in selection, but it’s this particular formula that is one of the best on the market for my money. I have most of her lipsticks from every launch, in all of the formulas, and I have never had a breakage issue ( I am in the U.S.) So, I say to whoever thinks they might enjoy these, go for it.
Her custumer service is amazing. One of my lipsticks broke and they replaced it. Since then I have had no more problems with them. Yes they are a bit dry, but her colours are the best on the market in my opinion. Her glosses and the Luxuriously Lucent ones are my favorites for my dry lips. I love that her products don’t have fragrance in them, my lips are very sensitive and dont’t like fragrances. I wish more labels would do that.

I’m from the uk, unfortunately all 16 Lisa Eldridge lipsticks I own are now broken! I was initially super impressed with the shades, however I just can’t justify spending £27 on a lipstick that breaks after a few uses! Really shocked with how fragile they are!
I completely agree - I put all of my velvet lipsticks into vueset containers and now have to use a brush but at least they aren't going to waste.

I was told by their customer service that the reason they break is because they have so much pigment in, but they don't last on me very well. Plus her stock issues are continually terrible - I've been waiting for a foundation shade to come back in stock for nearly 6 months! She's a great artist, but needs to hand the business side of things over to someone more experienced. Continually having to spend profits replacing broken products is bad practice and shell just end up losing customers

I have watched your channel from pretty much the beginning and know how hard you supported the LE brand and also how much you enjoy teaching and researching from your former job as a biology teacher. I always feel I learn something in a non dramatic way when I watch your content. I agree that these takeaways needed to be pointed out respectfully as you did. I remember your lipsticks and other people's breaking in earlier videos and took the plunge but haven't used them not only fear of marring them but also bc I was hit with rather high duty that left me kind of soured so there they sit untouched. I also remember the blush packaging problem and I'm sorry you and others experienced this as well. I hope the company improves on their current offerings instead of sending replacements only for the initial problem to happen again. I really respect your opinion and value your pov on other options out there people might not know about. Thank you for sharing your experience and speaking about it. 👏👏

Hi Lexi! I guess I’m in minority here ! I have almost all of Lisa’s lipsticks, most of the shades. Never experienced any breakage. I love her line for her unique shades. She comes up with beautiful and unique shades and I appreciate her for that. Don’t why , but none of mine are broken, although I’m aware of the issue. Dries Van Notten is gorgeous , I love their line as well , and so is Givenchy, but I cherish Lisa’s shades. I always use clear balm under any matte lipstick since my lips are super dry. I do hear you though, you didn’t have great experience ((

It is just that some of us (incl. me) have not had very positive experience with the products and it is totally fine to respectfully point it out which you did in this video. I baby my products because with the shipping to Asia they are very expensive. After arriving I put them in a cool place/not the fridge because I don't like them to sweat/. Still with removing the cap my lipstick fell off. I didn't ask for replacement.

I don’t totally disagree with you. I have had a couple break on me. But I don’t think anyone does color the way LE does. Especially bright colors. Her’s is the only brand that draws me to bright colors. But that’s the beauty of makeup..everyone will experience it differently which is a great thing.

I'm very selective and careful about which items I choose to buy from Lisa Eldridge and that's been the best way for me to enjoy them. If anyone reading this is thinking about it, just really think about what types of formulas and shades are suitable for your life and make sure to look up a lot of reviews.

Great advice! It took a couple years to make a purchase, but I waited until there were shades that were well-reviewed and truly unique to my collection. I'm really happy with my purchases.
I appreciate the honesty from you and everyone commenting. I really think these lipsticks can’t be cranked up so far out of the tube. And I can see with arm swatching the bullet literally bending as you drag them! So of course the bullet gets stressed, and how many times have you swatched these on video? I’m more than half done with Velvet Morning and I turn the bullet up only to the point where the lowest edge meets the rim of the case, no further. Of course if they arrive broken that is another matter. The only issue I had with any of the lipsticks (and I own many) is with Velvet Affair, it had a horrible metallic/iron oxide taste and smell. I mentioned it to customer service, not asking for a refund but they gave me one anyway.
You are right, I think the arm swatching definitely has made a difference with this formula but I am very careful not to press hard or extend the bullet far. I have not had any issues with taste or smell thankfully. They really have great customer service.

I got three Velvet lipsticks from the 2019 Holiday collection and they all broke in weeks (I’m from Northern Europe). They felt kind of wobbly from the beginning so I used them very carefully. I got one Luxuriously Lucent lipstick from this launch because it’s a shade I’ve been looking for a while, hopefully that formula doesn’t have problems.
Thanks for the Dries Van Noten recommendation! They seem to have those dark vampy colours that are often difficult to find in luxury brands.

Hi Lexi! Totally agree with you: these lipsticks DO break. I purchased 4 velvets and 2 of them broke just after a few months. One of my friends had a similar issue, so we are now reluctant about buying new lipsticks from Lisa. Not happy about her cream blushes as well...Great video, as always! :)

I think Lisa makes some gorgeous lipsticks but I feel people's love of her brand and personality makes them hesitant to point out that there are some quality issues with the product. Considering the blushes have yet to be restocked I think she also knows this and is working hard to rectify some of these issues. I hope her team also takes the same level of thought into the lipstick formulas in the future.

My blusher burst from the back after two uses. And the formula was so dry i couldn't use it anyways. But they did refund me which was amazing!

Thanks for pointing these things out. I feel like there’s so much love for Lisa the artist (I mean, she’s seems like absolutely lovely person, so deservedly so!) that people shy away from pointing out the drawbacks of her signature product.
I love mattes and most “velvet” formulas I’ve tried but find it difficult to wear many shades of her lipstick because they feel so, so desert dry. If my lips are chapped at all it’s crazy looking and really unpleasant (and I live in a very dry climate, so that’s most of the year). BUT I keep buying new ones because her VISION! It is so darn compelling!!
I know exactly what you mean! That's why I have always bought all of her lipsticks! Her vision always calls to me and I get so easily persuaded by her videos. They are undoubtedly lovely on her and her models but I am focusing on other lipsticks until these go through an update.

I have experienced breakage with all my LE velvet lipsticks. I have tons of lipsticks and I am very careful not to twist it up too far. Velvet Duchess broke within a week and her customer care team kindly replaced this and two more, after sending pictures. For Velvet Jazz and Velvet Ribbon, this was the second replacement. They claimed that the lipsticks have very high concentration of pigment, which causes damage during transport that may not be visible from the start. Honestly, I believe it’s the warmer weather in Greece.
That is such a shame! I'm glad they were able to replace your lipsticks but I hope they move to a slim style tube to help prevent this in the future.
I think I must have been very lucky because none of my LE lipsticks have broken (I have 5). I have purchased one of the new shades. Fortunately, all of her products suit me, especially the foundation as my skin is very shiny following SPF application. It’s good that you have alternatives.

Thanks Lexi for this video - I’ve had very similar issues with LE products. I found that her velvet lipsticks emphasized lines and as pretty as her colors looked in the tube, most of them had too warm an undertone for me - a lot just looked orange, a problem I also have with Charlotte Tilbury. The LE foundation also did not work for me - both in tone and formula. Yesterday, I ordered only one lipstick from her new launch in the luxuriously lucent Rosy Shell as that is the one formula of hers I have not yet tried and the color looks mostly cool toned - but I promised myself this was a last chance try of her products. I, too, love the Givenchy, Guerlain, Chanel, and Dries Van Noten lip products and also Valentino. There are indeed many choices out there now. I live in the UK, have most of her lipsticks and over 50% of them broke, I melted them and put them in the palette. I have to say that the velvets aren’t my favorites, some of them skipping on my lips and loads of them are emphasising lip lines. They are dry too. My favorites are Skyscraper Rose and Velvet Carnival. I would definitely repurchase those, especially Velvet Carnival is super unique in my collection.
I have to say that Lisa’s customer service is amazing. Once I commented under her post that I love the colours but the breakage needs to be looked into it and they immediately contacted me and replaced the ones that were broken - even though some were bought a year before. I totally agree with the Givenchy lipsticks - I prefer that formula too.

Hey Lexi, love this post. Yesterday, I finally bought my first ever Lisa Eldrige lipstick haul. I saw Strawberry Shock and to me, it looked liked an orange based red and Lisa actually confirmed that it was not. I bought it along with the magenta, the nude pink (forget the name) and the Je Ne Sais Quoi sheer coral color. I will be on the lookout for breakage. I did not get the rainbow spill, and Skyscraper rose bc, I have a Hermes color and a few Mac colors that could be quite similar. Anyway....this is a very helpful post and I will let you know what I think. Your post is greatly appreciated. I will also consider the Dries as I do love his clothes as well. The design of his bullets are awesome. I have some of his clothes. LOVE him.

@@ultraviolettas Strawberry Shock is not a strawberry red. It is a coral red - a bright, warm, coral red. Everything else about the lipstick formulation and wear time was great. The photos on the site look like an orange red and that is very true to the color. If that is what you want, it is a great color. I was just expecting it to be a strawberry red, but it is not. The other colors I got were beautiful - Je Ne Sais Quoi is a very nice coral, Sunday Mantinee is a very pretty pink and I love New Wave. I would not have bought Strawberry Shock had I known. Even Lisa said it was not a warm/orange red. It is not a yellow red. I would have been better off getting Skyscraper Rose or Velvet Ribbon. I love blue, yellow and pink reds. Don’t get me wrong, a great orange red is wonderful, but I don’t want orange based reds. Strawberry red resonated with me especially since Lisa is so particular with her color pigments.

How buildable would you say the newer Luxuriously Lucent formula is? Velvet cinnabar was my first LE purchase in the fall, and I haven’t had an issue with breakage. She says not to twist the lipsticks up more than you need to which may have helped me. I got sucked in by her video and color descriptions and bought Le Mépris, Night Thoughts (even though I was pretty sure it will be close to Chanel Noir Moderne which I already have) and then Velvet Midnight as I’ve been doing more vampy looks lately. I wish the bright reds and corals looked good on me. I am still mourning being 2 years late to the LE party and missing out on the Go Lightly lipstick!! 😭
I'm so glad you haven't had any issues with yours. I would say the the lucent formula is buildable yet always sheer. It will never build to a true satin or opaque finish. Certain shades look more like a tinted balm on the lips. I have a video with swatches of all of them until this launch and you can see how they build on my arms and lips. I’m so sorry this happened to you and others with LE. I only have Velvet Ribbon and the coordinating lip liner. I’ve had them for a year or so, but I’ve only worn Velvet Ribbon maybe three times - mainly around the holidays. I appreciate you sharing because I was thinking of purchasing more soon.
I’ve had no issues with gorgeous Givenchy Deep Velvet in #36 and #37, L’Interdit and Rouge Grainé.
I’d love to try Guerlain’s Legendary Reds, but I haven’t been wearing reds often enough to invest. Certainly Guerlain or Dries van Noten will remain on my wishlist.

Stumbled upon this video when searching of "lisa eldridge lip pencil broken" haha. I've been a fan of the brand for a long time now, but never bought any of the lip products and when I did - the lip pencil arrived broken. The whole tip was sticking out when it arrived. I was confused if this is how it is supposed to look like, but when pressed against my lips, if fell back in. However, I trun and turn the other side and the tip does not want to come out. So it is not only the lipsticks, the lip pencils also seem broken. I think I am going to stick with the liquid lurex eyeshadows and the foundation only. Thank you for sharing your experience!

Hi, Lexi; thank you so much for the alternatives (especially the point about using lip liners instead!). I finally bought three Velvet lipsticks last year, and I absolutely love them. Always stored them upright, never took it outside in my bag, but I got breakage. :( Of the three I ordered, only one didn’t break, but that might be because I hadn’t used it as much as the other ones! In the end I ended up depotting them into Vuesets. Unfortunate because I absolutely love the luxurious feeling of putting on a lipstick from the tube, but I also didn’t mind as much because at least the magnets didn’t keep the tubes fighting with each other.
That's a great idea! I'm going to depot mine too. They will take up less space anyway. It's a shame because the packaging is beautiful.
I own a lot of the lipsticks and none broke. Not even my oldest one, Velvet Ribbon, which I purchased when she launched her Reds. I am not very delicate with the lipsticks, they are lying in my drawer, I toss them in my handbag ... and I use them daily. I am 46 years old and they are not drying on me. I love how long lasting the Velvets are. And I have to say they suit my complexion. I am very fair and cool toned and I wear Fawn, Ribbon, Morning, Decade ... the undertones are great. I do own two Luxurious and they are great for everyday. The glosses yet ... perfection. Nourishing and quite some colour. I never used up lipsticks but these ... I do.

Thanks for this video🙂You are the first person I've heard speaking about this issue and it's a relief to know I'm not the only one. I love LE, and her lipsticks, but from the six I own, I've had issues with two. Velvet Myth snapped six months ago. It snapped right off the base after applying a normal amount of pressure (in a way that indicated it was dry as a bone). I was kind of shocked, particularly because I had only used it maybe four times. At that point I checked my other lipsticks and they were all fine apart from Velvet Ribbon. There I noticed that two small holes had developed on the top of the lipstick, where it actually touches the lips. When I went to use it a month ago, I noticed that it has now developed a larger hole down the side on the velvet patterning. I did consider contacting the company to let them know, but I have had the lipsticks for two years now and these issues can happen. I suppose I was just surprised they happened with LE lipsticks. They are still beautiful and luxurious, but it has definitely taken the shine off them, as I am now wondering if the same will happen to the others and that is no pleasure when reaching for them😕 All my lipsticks are stored well (dark, cool drawer), I am always mindful not to twist the bullet up too far, and I truly use a normal pressure when applying. I additionally rarely use them full stop, so it's not as if I can use that as a possible reason for breakage. Five of my lipsticks are the Velvet formula (Myth, Ribbon, Morning, Jazz and Dragon) and I also own Skyscaper Rose in the Insanely Saturated formula. I am curious to know how things will progress with those lipsticks and although I am still open to trying her Lusciously Lucent formula, I would be wary of buying a Velvet lipstick again. It's honestly a relief to know others have had issues as well 👍🏻

Hi Lexi, thanks for sharing your experience! I was a careful buyer at first, but ended up buying more and more products with every new release. None of my lipsticks broke, however, I had issues with the blush packaging. While trying to press out the tiniest amount (as advised), it just exploded from the back side. I decided to reach out to the LE team and share my feedback on packaging, and they were kind enough to gift me a certificate for the next purchase of any product, as the blushes were out of stock. As for foundation, I had some struggles during winter time when my skin was on a dry side (will be testing it again with a heavier facecream next winter), but really enjoy applying it in summer even with a lightweight moisturizer. This is my story with Lisa Eldridge products. I will definitely continue purchasing her new launches, as I really enjoy the products and entire consumer journey despite some of the little flaws. I strongly believe that the team and Lisa herself are working very hard on every product and details, and listed and gather feedback to improve.

I noticed how far down the breakage was on that tube of lipstick. I don't have that much of the lipstick sticking up. I'm 77 and a half an inch is about what I've had up for the past 60 years! 🤗
I can stand behind your reasons for not buying more LE lipsticks. I love her as a person and a makeup artist but I have been somewhat underwhelmed by her lipsticks that I wanted to love sooo much. I've also experienced breakage with the velvet formula and for such price it shouldn't even be an issue. As for the Luxuriously Lucent I only own Go Lightly but I must say the colour in the real life is miles away from the colour of Audrey's lipstick in 'Breakfast At Tiffany's' - it pulls much more neon pink on me and the formula is very unforgiving if you have any dry patch or flakiness on your lips. At times it would just emphasize my lip lines horribly as well as dryness that I didn't even know I had. So, all in all, whenever Lisa comes out with another launch I try to remember these cons, because for that price I really want to be impressed.

Thanks for this video. I must have maybe 20 of her lipsticks . Yes my fav is velvet ribbon hands down and even velvet jazz . I have had no breakage yet. I wonder if the dry formula has something to do with that. Yesterday was Lisa’s launch date and we here in Canada had a huge internet outage that millions were without internet service so I did not get any. I really was not planning on rushing thru to get some so best the outage happened . Now my huge issue with Lisa Eldridge is shipping. We are heavily gouged by shipping and duties that you need to stop and think is this worth it? I have plenty of lipsticks that I really do not need more but her colours do look pretty. Thanks for the info on the other lipsticks. Not sure a availability on the one brand you mentioned but I do have some Givenchy and Guerlain and yes they are very nice. The reds violet tear came out with are pretty but they are all warm reds and those are not my fav. I may need to wait and see if she comes out with cooler ones. Thanks for sharing .
Yes the shipping and duties to Canada are insane! It's hard to justify a purchase with those fees. I hope they can figure out a way to alleviate some of the costs. Oh! I have never had any break. I am in the UK though. I love them and the liners and glosses. My skin is drier and if there is any flakes of dry skin the foundation will find them but I think its better for oily and normal skin. I like the highlight, ordering pink moon and hoping it works with my pale complexion.

I’m a huge Lisa Eldridge fan but I must admit that most of the times I buy her lipsticks because I love her work & the inspirations behind her shades (especially when they’re related to art & history). And even though I fortunately haven’t experienced breakage with my lipsticks (my mom sadly has) I find that her lighter shades most of the times end up being much darker & warmer than I expected so I don’t really end up using them, and in this recent launch I feel like many shades seem quite similar to other shades in her range so it didn’t really excite me, I might get one or two lipsticks but I think I might prefer trying some lipsticks from Dries Van Noten or Gucci. I completely understand! I love how she ties everything to history and I love her passion for makeup and packaging from the past. I am glad you haven't had any breakage but I'm sorry for your mom. Such a great video. I like the fact that you can talk about something you don't like without drama and provide some altenatives. I only have one of the velver lipsticks (Decade) and so far I haven't had any issues but let's see how it ages; I find the shade very flattering and unique. I will probably get some of the new releases. I just like the way Lisa Eldridge describes the shades and inspiration behind it; I find it very inspiring!

It is my belief that some people are a little bit more rough with their lipstick than others.
You do large swatches, reason why I do love you, and multiple swatches of your lipsticks,
and maybe that could be the reason why they come unglue.
I own three of her lipsticks and they haven't broken, but I am very careful, and only
open them a bit. We need to remember that lipsticks are made of wax.
Another situation could be the room where the lipsticks are kept. If the room gets
too hot during the day that could be a factor for sure.
What I didn't like was the foundation. I have normal to dry skin and I found it to be
too drying for me, although I did love the finish. LS customer service was courteous,
and they did refund my money after two months of purchase.
The Van Noten lipsticks are beautiful, but the price is double. Something to consider.
I find Lisa's to be creamy and very long lasting. Cinnabar is one of my favorites.
I also find the lip liners to be very long lasting. Also, one of my favorite formulas.

I completely agree - there are so many variables that factor into how the lipsticks break and I am sure that my swatching doesn't help. Unfortunately, I don't really have this problem with other brands so I hope they can figure out a way to make them a bit sturdier. I’m glad someone public finally said something because my Lisa Eldridge lipsticks broke too. I reached out to their customer service they said they don’t break. They said I was possibly too rough with them. Instead of owning up to the extremely dry formula they denied it. Also I would wear the lipstick all day and it dries out your lips so much it would hurt my lips and my lips are not sensitive about anything. I love other products from her but the velvets are drying and drying and not pleasant as I expected. I hope the formula changes in the future.

I haven't broken any of my bullets, but I'm not interested in buying any new shades because the colors never appear the way I expect from the swatches and descriptions! I don't actually want to wear any of the colors I have. A bit fed up with that.
Same here. They look pretty in the tube but make me look sallow :'( and my skin is beautiful English Rose kind of skin. Very fair neutral. Something in the undertone.The doesn't work for me.

I too am fed up but keep giving her a change...i did give in to the recent Berlin and Night thoughts. I have at least 10 of her lipsticks and never wear them. The undertone just looks off on me.... and some are so much brighter than I expected. I have purchased the highlighter, just ok removes my foundation, the blushes and the packaging exploded blush everywhere, and her foundation seemed too trying and I couldn't find a shade. @lexi I love the alternatives you've provided!
Same. No breakage but I'm afraid to buy her lipticks right away anymore without seeing them actually on other people's lips now because I've had the same disappointment. I think I wanted to trust her when she says things like "looks beautiful across all skin tones" but that's just not true. Basically most of her lighter shades don't look good on me and tend to pull too peachy orange. It could be that I don't understand my own skin under/tones well enough, but even though I'm a light-medium cool to neutral (I think!) I now look at that really fair skinned blonde model for any hint of peachy orange even though she's way lighter than I am since I can see the orangey presence more easily.
I did notice in her video for this recent launch though that when she flashed the collage of photos of the shade on all her models that it looked way darker on all of them than on her, which could be the lighting, heavier/fuller application, etc.
That being said, I really want Night Thoughts but think I could achieve it by sheering out shades I already own.
Although I enjoy and appreciate the evocative way she explains her inspiration for her lipstick shades tremendously, that doesn't really help me understand if it'll work on my coloring or not. I need a practical guide like "this is too light and/or warm for light-med cool/neutral skin". Also, I know it's too challenging since there's so much variety in people's natural lip color but it took me way too long to figure out that also changes the way lipstick will read on me compared to someone else lol!
I have about 12 of her lipsticks and I have never had one break! That’s so interesting that you, and others, seem to have had that problem.
The blushes in the other hand…..I had an awful time with 2 or 3 of them. I never contacted the company (I probably should have, but I didn’t know if they would do anything about it, at the time). I do like the blushes I have and that came out of the tube easily. And I also love the highlighter, glosses, lip liners and foundation.
However, I agree that I probably won’t purchase many (or any) more of her lipsticks. I have had issues with the colors not being what I thought they might be, despite watching the videos and scouring the internet for swatches. I guess that they can be different because of screen coloring, undertones, etc, but it’s still enough to cause me to not order a shade unless I’m certain it will work for me.

I thought this might have been a me problem! I went to use them this summer and found I couldn’t get them out of the tube like I could in the beginning. I have to unclog the applicator. Now that I know it isn’t just me I will let her customer service reps know. They should know that her blushes need to repackaged if launched again.

I heard Lisa say in her reveal video that the mattes had more pigment, which is obvious :). Without as much of the binder, breakage will follow. It’s like that dry texture of an icing that has too much chocolate and not enough butter 🤓 I haven’t ever had a break in mine, but I tend to dab them on or apply with a lip brush because I don’t want the full intense color anyway (so why did I buy them? 🤷🏻♀️😆). The lucent formula OTOH is my favorite ever!

I was put off ordering by the breakage but as I love what I currently have of Lisa Eldridge (her glosses, lip liners, 2 liquid eyeshadows, foundation), I took the plunge yesterday & got a luxuriously lucent & an insanely saturated. The shades are both ones I don't have in my collection & different. Fingers crossed they don't break, I'm in the UK. Understand why you're not ordering more, I'd be raging if that happened with a Chanel lipstick for example, not acceptable!
My Chanel rouge allure velvet has never got breakage issues but Lisa’s and Givenchy have. I think it depends on the colours.

I agree about the breakage! About a third of the ones I own are broken. I haven't purchased from the new launch and not sure I will. However Fawn is hands down the best nude. I'm almost out of it and may have to get another one which means I'll have to take my chances with it arriving broken.
Fawn is gorgeous! It doesn't look great on me but I love it on other people. Sometimes it is worth the risk for a great shade. I haven't found a dupe for it yet.

I've experienced some breakage as well and I'm in the UK. My velvet Petal broke. The most annoying thing I find though is the colours never seem to match what is on screen. The matte ones often have a grey undertone to them which isn't flattering. I find the lip liners match the colour better though.
The lip liners are very pretty colors and I agree that the tones seem different. I think it is very hard distinguishing the colors on the screen as well. I have been surprised by a few!

Hi Lexi, I too have bought something from every Lisa Eldridge launch because I adore her and her products are good. But the reason why I didn't buy anything this launch was because I just don't wear them! They sit in my collection and I simply never grabbed for them. And yes, the matte formula has broken on me too. Lipsticks that I love and look forward to wearing are Giorgio Armani Beauty lip power, Sisley Paris Phyto-Rouge Shine in Sheer Blossom, Chantecaille lip chic in Jarul and Bourbon Rose, and Clinique Pop Reds in Roses are Red.

Thank you for the comparison video you’ve done Lexi. Lisa’s lipsticks may not be perfect however I would have enjoyed your video so much more if you hadn’t made so much negative comments on Lisa Eldridge’s lipsticks. I have used many different top of the line lipstick brands and found her formula’s to be very authentic. Breakage may be an issue to some but rather than focusing on the negatives I’d rather focus on the positive such as her lipsticks are not only moisturizing but they also have great staying power. This is because they leave a beautiful subtle stain on the lips. In addition, no matter one’s skin tone the lipsticks just look amazing on everyone. Please… let’s build each other up not take down.🌺

Lexi, I have had the same experience with her lipsticks. I absolutely love her Velvets line and I have a LOT of them, but at least 4 of them have broken. I adore Lisa so I’ll probably continue to support her by buying her products but I do hope that she fixes this problem because these lipsticks are quite pricey.
I agree - Lisa is wonderful! I really think switching to a slim-style packaging would solve these issues.
Yes , someone finally pointed out that they actually dry the lips ! And they don't last as long as other lipsticks that also dry the lips!☺️

I live in Canada and have 5 Velvet lipsticks and 2 Lucent lipsticks, and none of these are broken, but I read about this issue, and I hope it will be fixed. I like the Lucent ones better because the Velvets can be a bit dry, proper lip hydration helps me solve this problem though. The Lucent lipsticks are buildable which gives control over their application and the end result. I don't find them oily but creamy. I like Lisa's shades, she is an amazing artist who plays so well with cool and warm undertones and creates unique shades suitable for a lot of skin tones. I agree that the pictures can be a bit misleading, and some research is needed before ordering online. I wasn't familiar with DVN and googled them. For the price of CAD$75 (refillable at CAD$45) plus CAD$20 international shipping, I will pass.

I have a similar problem with Pat McGrath lipsticks. The inner white tubes crumble and makes it hard to roll up. Not worth the price. Not experienced this with Lisa's lipsticks.
I have the same problem with Pat McGrath lipsticks. I have found that the newer shine formula in the pink tubes have been much better but I stopped buying her lipsticks also.
This was the first Lisa launch that I didn't buy anything from. I own 11 of her lipsticks, never had any issues with any of them, but I simply don't feel like I need any of the shades she released this time. I was contemplating Je Ne Sais Quoi, but figured it was too similar to Dance Card (which I already own). Dabbing a bit of Velvet Morning before applying Dance Card gives the exact same shade (at least judging from Lisa's video and web site photos). Sunday Matinee was another I initially had interest in, but it's just too similar to Velvet Petal. I was a bit let down by Atomic Cherry (as you described, I also find the newer shades of Luxuriously Lucents don't have the same pigmentation and formula as Love of my Life).
Also... I wrote to the customer service, requesting comparison swatches... and they just sent me pictures of the new shades, without comparisons to Dance Card or Velvet Petal, they said I can find swatches of those shades on her IG... which I find a bit shady.
That's a shame that they wouldn't provide you with swatches but perhaps the person responding did not have access to the products at the time. Maybe if you dm them on instagram or leave a message on one of their posts, they will do comparisons. I think that would be very helpful! I also decided not to buy these anymore though for different reasons - none of mine broke but maybe because I never use them. I almost felt like I had to buy them as a makeup enthusiast to support her but I find that even though the colors seem nice, but doesn’t translate well on my lips. The velvet feels too dry and thick for me and the other formulas I find to be nothing special. Therefore I never reach for them sadly. There’re just so superior formulas on the market (I much prefer the Gucci, Givenchy and the Sephora lipstories) and I can’t justify spending this much money only for patronage and not use them. I did purchase one new Lisa Eldridge lipstick because I ordered two Rose Official LE lipsticks and am still enjoying them. One lives in my purse and one in my desk drawer. I’m sorry to hear about this problem, and I know you have been completely honest from day one of launching your channel. I trust you and your reviews, and if you aren’t a fan of a product launch, I generally stay away. I wouldn’t touch the blush! That was a nightmare for almost every user. I will let you know what this new LE lipstick is like. You do look stunning today. I need to avoid any dry formulas, because I suffer from extremely dry lips and need to rehydrate and treat them daily. I do have several Sisley sheer lipsticks - and love them. I also love the lip oil from Hermes in Rose Kola. The oil is great salve for my dry lips. Thanks Lexi!

I stopped purchasing after none of the liquid blushes would come out of the tube. Loved the colors but what a waste of money. One actually exploded.
I hope you contacted them for a refund or replacement! I had issues too with the blush packaging but they refunded me for them. Lisa Eldridge actually contacted me to get my thoughts on how they should package them in the future so hopefully they will be fixing that issue.
I own most of Lisa’s lipsticks as I really love all the formulas and her quality and shades are second to none. I have never experienced any breakages but I don’t do arm swatches or anything like that so that probably helps.-M

Same. I have almost every color and have worn her lipsticks daily for a few years now with no issues and I take them with me in my purse and when I travel.
Also I love Dris Von Noten (which YOU made me buy and I love them) and the Givenchy ones but they don't replace the Lisa Eldridge ones for me I don't know why. There's something about them which give me joy and fit my lips so well. The Dris von Noten ones come second. They are gorgeous
I'm so glad you love them! There was something special about the Lisa Eldridge velvets that I feel won't really ever be replaced but I think for me, part of that is the fact that they were first and they were innovative. At least there are some good options though!
Have many of Lisa’s lipsticks across her range of formulas - have never had any break. Her customer service is superb - had a cream blush that I couldn’t get out of the tube - they sent me another immediately and thanked me for alerting them of the problem - sales associates were very focused on quality control. Love her products and her price point is quite different for the Dries Van Noten if you buy the case as well as the refill.

The dries van noten are more expensive with the cases for sure but I included some at other price points as well and depending upon where viewers are residing, the duties may cause the dries van noten to be more cost effective than the lisa eldridge lipsticks. I disagree. I own every single product Lisa’s ever launched and never had a problem. I own Guerlain and Givenchy lipsticks too but they do not compare. For me personally her formula, packaging, customer service, and undertones are unmatched in the industry

I bought the very first trio of LE's lipsticks. I'm from the Philippines. Took more than a week to get here. They didn't break on me, even now. And I bring them around, in my bag or in a pouch in my bag. The only fault I experienced with the True Velvet, it really needs a highly moisturized lips, specially for the Velvet Morning. But manageable, just need to prep my lips. In general, I would probably prefer buying Maybellines tube lipsticks because of the color range and also the feel. However, the manufacturing process for LE's products is highly preferable!
That's fantastic to hear! I agree that Lisa Eldridge's manufacturing process and attention to detail with the ingredients is preferable. I really love how everything is fragrance free in particular. That is so hard to find!

Glad to have come across your video! I seem to be the only one who doesn't like LE's lipsticks. I have only two (Rose Official and Velvet Blush Lightly) and a lip liner (Blush Lightly) and I am glad I didn't buy more. They don't break on me, but they dry out my lips. Especially with Velvet Blush Lightly I find myself constantly flicking my tongue over the inner part of my lips (allergic reaction?). The texture makes my lips look aged, the colour looks chalky and flat matte. I wish I were exaggerating, but I'm not, have been trying to make it work for weeks. Could be that one colour, though. Unfortunately I don't find that the liner to Blush Lighly matches the lipstick colour either. It is more brickish/tomato sauce orangy-red than the lipstick, even after setting and oxidization.
Givenchy's velvets (especially the sheer velvets) on the other hand are so amazing! Comfortable, light, non-drying with blurring effect. Yes to that!
I don't think the liners match that well either. Lisa has mentioned they are meant to be a darker version to add depth but particularly blush lightly seems off. Some of the others are more true to color imo. I'm so glad you love the Givenchy velvets!
I adore lisa eldridge! If I've ever had any problems her customer service is quick to remedy the situation. Never have had an issue with her lipsticks, highlighters, or foundation. I did have an issue with a blush but they took care of the problem asap.

Hi Lexi, I have commented here before, but I decided to come back after having tested the Guerlain velvets. First I would like to say that in my opinion Guerlain is an amazing brand and perfume house. I think many of their classic perfumes are like symphonies in their own right. However, I have tried and tested four of the velvets on different days, the Rouge du Tigre (1830), the 555, 885 and 940. Honestly I found them all pretty drying. I kept putting on more but that didn’t help and as time went by my lips seemed to get even dryer with these on. Surprisingly the pigmentation was what was really disappointing for me. It didn’t matter how much I packed on, it just wasn’t working. And I really did want it to work. That’s why I kept going back and tested four different shades. What one expects from a lipstick is personal and I hear that your experience was different. However, in my opinion the Guerlain lipsticks don’t even come close to Lisa’s lipsticks in terms of pigmentation or creaminess. Lisa’s lipsticks may not be cheap but considering the fact that the cases have to be purchased separately for the Guerlain lipsticks and they are expensive as well, I wouldn’t even consider buying a Guerlain velvet at this point. I should also mention that I own most of Lisa’s shades except a couple exceptions and not one of them was ever broken. So I’m team Lisa all the way.
I'm so sorry to hear the Guerlain lipsticks didn't work for you. They work very well for me but everyone is different and skin chemistry really can make a huge difference. I'm glad the Lisa Eldridge lipsticks are a good match for you!
Same!!! I have 4 and all are broken 😢. I love them but whyyyyyy? I broke perhaps 3 in my whole life prior to LE.
That has been my experience too. I very rarely break a lipstick.
I'm passing on this launch too, I haven't experienced any breakage but there's really only 1 new shade I'm interested in, and to pay the duties and fees it requires to ship to my country would just be too expensive. Appreciate the video!

I bought her lipsticks and had to return them, I don’t know what it is about the formula but my lips get so dry with them, like they suck out moisture from my lips. Maybe my skin doesn’t agree with some ingredients there. I don’t have particularly dry lips so most likely a disagreement between my body and the formula. I think it’s great she accepts returns.
I completely agree - her customer service and policies are very fair and she definitely thought about her customers and the disadvantages of online shopping when she set everything up.
I thought it was just me so watching this video has made me feel better, thank you. I have had the same issue with more recent purchases. I love her lipsticks. The colors are gorgeous but as you point out, they break. The company is amazing at replacing but you're right... why not find out what is causing the problem and fix it. In addition, recently they had some kind of email compromise issue where orders were completely stopped and delayed. Something to do with the sample card provided free to their customers. I'm honestly not sure if they are sending me my order or if it's stuck.
Anyway, thank you for providing all the other possibilities, I think I'm going to give them a try.

Somewhere out there... you just know someone is putting their lipsticks in the freezer to avoid breakage. Jokes aside this is a very fair point to bring up. Little annoying things may be acceptable in cheaper products especially if they have good performance otherwise. In luxury there shouldn't be a consistent issue like this though. Still fair for people to buy them if they want, but I respect your decision and how you present this as only your opinion.

I have 10 LE lipsticks in different formulas. Three of them broke - two velvets and one insanely saturated. Insanely saturated broke when my package arrived so it was probably issue with transport. Velvets broke when I used them. I am always very careful putting them but it's annoying that her lipsticks are so fragile. It's hard to choose shades for me looking only at computer photos. Last time I bought Cinnabar Velvet. It looks on the models like a vibrant foxy, orangy, pumpkin red but on me it's more muted and brown. This time I decided to skip new shades.
I'm so sorry you had this experience. I hope you can find some other lipsticks you like. These are just too fragile.
Interesting Lexi, all of my LE lipsticks are ok but both of my Givenchy ones broke 😕.

All of my velvet lipsticks break after 5-6 uses. I continue using them by sticking them back on but if I could find a similar alternative I would stop buying LE
There isn't one just like it but the Guerlain Rouge G Velvets are similar.
I very much appreciate this video, particularly at a time when I'm resisting her latest release (which is a huge struggle for me because she's such a persuasive brand-owner, lol). I use matte/satin lipsticks with a very light hand (one swipe and blend), so I don't have breakage problems. What I realised after collecting quite a few LE lipsticks is that they seemed very special at the time when I bought them (I LOVED hearing about each shade was conceived and Lisa is a fantastic narrator), but after I used them, the shades are not any more special than those from other brands in my collection. In fact, because I have an olive undertone, some LE shades can look strange on me (Fawn gives me corpse lips, and Morning is neon on me). So what I try now is to resist the FOMO, and wait until I see the new shades tested on reviewers with similar colouring to me before I make my decision to purchase.

I was interested in your comment because I also have an olive undertone. I have a light skin tone and am neutral leaning warm with some olive (in her foundation I’m #9), and Fawn and Morning are some of my best shades. I think it must depend on the overall complexion. None of my lipsticks have broken (I have most of them) but I understand it’s been an issue for others. I also use a light hand. I think for any brand, it will fit some people better than others and that’s okay. I also appreciate the video :)

I’m in the U.K. and ALL of my Lisa Eldridge lipsticks have broken. Never experienced that before with a lipstick brand. Definitely a dodgy formula
I hope they change the packaging because I really think they need to use a slim style tube so there is support fully along the bullet.

It is humid in the summer but I keep the air conditioning on so the house is not humid. We actually monitor the humidity levels constantly because we have wooden floors everywhere. Her pop up looked so nice! I wish i could have gone to it.

I purchased a LE lip gloss, the colour is nice but it changes shade and the shine wears off very quickly. Also it doesn't stay on the lips for long. I have the impression that her formula are still experimental and probably not fully tested yet. By the way, I love your Dries van Noten lipstick collection in the background of your video!

I don't typically have lipsticks that break. These were the first ever (and I have only had one other lipstick break out of hundreds) and at first I thought it was just me until I heard from others as well. I am respectfully sharing my experience here with some alternatives in case it is helpful but this is of course, just my opinion and experience. I think Lisa Eldridge herself is an amazing makeup artist and her customer service is top-notch but I try to objective and not let my admiration for the artist interfere with my objectivity of her products. Hi Lexi, I have three lipsticks from Lisa and two glosses. I love the glosses. The two velvet lipsticks are a little drying on me but haven't broken and the other one which is not velvet hasn't broken either. I had an issue with the liquid blush which wouldn't come out after a while and I told them and was refunded in minutes. They have one of the best Customer Services I have ever found, very polite and helpful. But I am also not getting any lipsticks this time as I have ordered some Givenchy ones and am expecting them soon.

Hi Lexi. My velvet fawn lipstick broke after the first application. My heart broke with the bullet! I have to use it with a lip brush now. Unfortunately my twin boys were playing in my room and happened to reach all of my LE lipsticks on my display. They opened them all and must’ve heard me walking back to my room and closed the lids before winding them back down. I had no idea what they were up to until I decided to wear one of them a few days later and to my horror discovered all of the broken and smooshed inside the bullet. At the time I wanted to cry but now I just laugh about it 🤣
Oh no! I'm so sorry! That has happened to me with a few lipsticks too. Kids are just too curious! Lol. I'm glad you can laugh about it now. It is definitely devastating in the moment though.
What was your experience with glosses? I only had one , and it was gloopy , and i also think i had a bad batch. :( also so compelled by her videos and story for everything she releases, but started to cool off a little. Haven't like the foundation for example, and i did not order it based on the swatch.
I have all of her glosses and I have one or two that are a bit gloopy but the majority of them are a very nice sheer gloss. They are similar in texture to the Sisley glosses which are my favorite but I feel like the Sisley formula feels a little lighter and more refined on my lips. Overall, I think her glosses are nice but not a must-have. I find that I reach for others more like the hermes lip oils, sisley glosses, and givenchy liquid lip balms.

Great video, Lexi. I own a few of Lisa’s lipsticks, but they are all in great shape and I use them every day. When I apply her lipsticks-or any lipstick-I don’t use much pressure or twist the lipstick up very high. I noticed that you applied a lot of pressure when you swatched lipsticks and wonder if that pressure may have contributed to breakage-though you noted that one of Lisa’s lipsticks arrived broken. In theory, however, lipsticks should be able to withstand daily wear and tear. I live in New York and probably received Lisa’s lipsticks from the same US warehouse.
Yes it is possible swatching caused more damage and it does require a little more pressure than what I use on my lips but I feel they should be able to withstand it if other brands are able to hold up. I think what needs to happen to prevent breakage (for others too) is that the packaging should be more of a slim style stylo like the Dior Forever Rouge lipsticks.
