Possibly the BEST animated sequel? After returning from their honeymoon and showing home movies to their friends, Shrek and Fiona learn that her parents have heard that she has married her true love and wish to invite him to their kingdom, called Far Far Away. The catch is: Fiona's parents are unaware of the curse that struck their daughter and have assumed she married Prince Charming, not a 700-pound ogre with horrible hygiene and a talking donkey pal.

What about shrek three and four.
Don't forget Shrek 3 & 4 and also don't forget SHARK TALE as I mentioned before!
The voice of Puss in Boots when he speaks in Spanish is the same as the voice he has in Latin America.
¡¡Gran trabajo, Antonio Banderas!!
Moral of the story: The best way to sneak into a villain’s lair is to tell the front desk that you’ll help them unionize
Idk why I laughed so hard at this 🤣
Especially if u know they don’t have dental 😂
I literally had a DnD group get to the final boss in this exact way. It was very out of left field but it's now a running joke in our group.
They really did a police brutality joke seconds apart of a catnip being weed joke in 2004! That’s insane. This movie is just on another level. Also, that pepper spray part? Chefs kiss.
Police brutality and pepper spray and weed have been around for over a decade at that point, and since far far away is based on Los Angeles it would be fairly easy to make those jokes
That was apparently a reference to the OJ Simpson arrest
@@Mario_001 Yeah. They called Donkey "a white Bronco" which was the car OJ was driving.
I loved the oj Simpson reference the white bronco chase scene
if you look closely at the catnip scene the Knight just passed it from his left hand to his right, it really wasn't Puss's
Shrek 2 is better than Shrek 1, fight me. Holding Out For A Hero singlehandedly beats All Star.
Shrek 2 is sooooo goood
Oh, 💯 percent!
Not a controversial opinion at all. Shrek 2 is widely considered one of the best animated movies of all time.
Shrek 3 and forever after on the other hand
(Sucks lip)... we don’t talk about those
Definitely dount anyone will fight over a very accurate and truthful opinion lol
I literally just realised that when donkey tells shrek that dragon's been all moody lately, that was probably cause she was pregnant and he had no clue. Making sense that she comes with their babies at the end of the movie
I got that 2
I realized the same a while ago, but now I wonder if she was pregnant or layed eggs 😵
if i remember correctly the bts people also said dragon also transformed. She turned into a pegasus
Yep lol :D
@@juancarlosjerividal7382 Offspring usually is born the same way the mother is, so I'm thinking eggs.
I feel so sorry for the queen - she's not denying she's surprised but is actually trying to make an effort to see her daughter's marriage int he best light and is trying to keep the dinner civil and friendly....and her husband is just ruining it.
Yeah, he’s such a toad.
@@gawainethefirst I see what you did there

I think one of the biggest reasons she's trying to be supportive is because she herself is not 1 to judge considering she married a frog
@@moneylover318 I thought she didn't know that he was once a frog. But it would still make sense if she had known
The final battle is easily the most memorable, badass, and cinematic scene ever next to endgame.
I NEED A HERO
True lol
Endgame isn't even that memorable. Plenty of movies whose battles wash Endgame's out of the water. The whole battle was ruined by Cpt Marvel showing up, too. If she didn't exist, I'd made consider Endgame's battle in my top 10, but there's no saving it with her in it.
@@LethalOwl You're letting your personal bias and hatred affect your opinion of a great movie. You're a bigger Karen than Brie Larsen. Pathetic.
When I was like 5 or something, I would watch this movie and my dad would put me on his shoulder and pretend that he was Mongo and I was Shrek so we would reenact the scene together.
Fun fact: Rupert Everett, the voice of Prince Charming originally auditioned to be Gaston in Disney's Beauty and the Beast, but was turned down because he didn't sound arrogant enough. He kept that in mind when auditioning for Prince Charming which he nailed.
Hah
Cool and shrek was suppose to be voiced by chris farley but he sadly died all of a sudden shortly after early rehearsals and after little time they got mike myers
@@danmulholland1634 pretty sure Chris did about 90% of his lines before his eventual passing. It's a shame but Mike did a great job considering who he had to fill in for
Good. Shrek 2 was a better movie anyways. Screw Disney lol
So why's he so horrible in Shrek the Third?
"You *have* the right to remain silent. What you lack is the capacity" might be one of the greatest lines of dialogue ever written
So my theory is the fairy godmother cursed Fiona as an excuse to get her son on the throne. Her father probably didn't question her being cursed because he probably thought it came from the fact he was a frog before. However because Charming took his time getting there he missed his chance, hence the mobster like threats to get their way.
Exactly! I believe it is true! 💚🐸
This a popular theory but if you pause at 29:53 look, you get a great look at one of the before and after photos from the fairy godmother Factory, there’s a witch who looks like a redhead snow white into a green skin witch so some believe that the fairy godmother made a deal with that witch in exchange for a curse on someone when needed
Yep she's the "witch" that cursed Fiona as a child!! I was telling my hubby this the other day since we own all 4 movies and recently watched them. Even Puss said she was the largest purveyor of hexes and potions in the land so yeah lol, it makes sense.
It’s not a theory since it’s true I’m not sure everyone remember but at the beginning when charming was narrating the fairy in the book looked exactly like fairy godmother that an the ending clearly shows she was the one who set up the situation only for it to not go in her favor
THat's actually true
Shrek 2 is the Empire strikes back of animated movies.
Just expands and makes even greater everything that was on the first one.
ESB had suck a big impact in movie history
-it’s a sequel with better battles
-they visit a lot more planets
-it has one of the most shocking plot twist in cinema history
What did the king chop off Shrek's hand and find out he's related to him LMFAO!!!!!!!

Nobody values Donkey, but this movie would be very unpredictably worse without him and anyone who says otherwise is lying
Bruh what a made up lie, Donkey is the second most loved character in this franchise.
@@SirKolass he useless in movie 3

@@girl-di3nn exactly the point
@girl-di3nn This is going to be very unpopular but I quite enjoyed Shrek three, it was the worst of the franchise yes, but it was also quite endoyable (Julie Andrew's especially)
Everyone always talks about "How could Donkey and the Dragon have babies?" but nobody talks about "What did that pregnant dragon turned into when Donkey drank the potion?".
I've actually heard a theory that the potion is what allowed the dronkeys to be born and not be suffocated misshapen abominations.
A very late reply, but there was a theory that stated the dragon turned into a pegasus
@@philipgood5041, That actually makes a lot of sense. If that were true, then thank goodness Donkey drank that stuff
I always figured: the equivalent of cars in this universe is a horse drawn carriage right? Shrek rides in on Donkey (a singular horse) so is that the equivalent of riding into Hollywood on a motorcycle?
that just makes that scene even more of a masterpiece along with all the movie
Aside from Shrek being handsome, it would also make sense why everyone was staring at him lol.
I think it's safe to say that the "I need a hero" is everyone's favorite scene 🤩
Yeah, especially when it was used on Short Circuit 2 ending chase scene (sung by legendary Bonny Tyler, the original singer)
Safest bet you'll ever make
Bully people who don’t like that scene, and make sure they live in the most miserable environment ever.
@@attackoramic8361 Whoa whoa whoa! Let's slow our horses there! People can have their own opinion and I wouldn't bully them just because it's not the same as mine.
Because people like heroes.
Specially in times of darkness.
I can find it understandable for how both Fiona and Shrek acted the way they did, because of the hate Shrek experienced all his life (this being a major plot point from the last one if you recall) whereas Fiona was most definitely sheltered from the crowd before and after her time in the tower. Just something I noticed.
Omg your profile name is so iconic in the animation community
Plus Shrek was new to being in a relationship so naturally it’s going to have some challenges along the way
The fairy godmother being the villain of the story was just genius. When you think of a fairy godmother you think of a kind magical woman that will make everything better. Shrek 2 shows that while she can she can offer an easy luxurious and magical life, it is artificial like that old saying money can't by happiness (just without the money)
The first film did the same with Shrek. Ogres are normally seen as big ugly monsters. Shrek scared villagers but that was simply because they entered his swamp. He has a simple house there and valued his privacy. Typically knights slay dragons but Shrek and Donkey befriended it. Fiona's dad was acting selfishly but remember what rhe fairy godmother said "I gave you your happily ever after and I can take it away" I believe he was purely motivated by fear of that and eventually saw Shrek and Fiona's relationships for what it was and ultimately sacrificing his own happiness for it
I like how these movies take iconic fairy-tales and twists them into unexpected and modernized stories.
I cracked up at the drive thru scene lmao. It's supposed to be the renaissance in the Shrek movies. We all know that didn't exist yet hahaha
Like the wolf among us, just less gritty
27:06 Puss doing his cute eyes warms my heart every time. My mom and I are suckers for cuteness. 😄
Small detail that I like about the Shrek franchise is they don't let anyone do musical numbers, if they do and successfully finished the whole song, they'll just kill them off in the end. That shows how much the creator of Shrek hated Disney for firing him.
lol it's so cute seeing Timothee and Angelina giggling like little kids in the "I need a hero " scene :)
CLASSIC SCENE
It’s definitely one of the best sequels to an animated movie ever.
Oh yah for sure
Any other you recommend
@@TimotheeReacts I’d recommend Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Treasure Planet. They’re both really fun animated movies.
@@TimotheeReacts For animated sequels, you got the important ones (aka Dreamworks). As for other fantastic Dreamworks movies, The Prince of Egypt is probably their best overall film and the hand-drawn Spirit is one of their most underrated. Those 2 are worth checking out.
If you're looking for an animated show to get into, I highly advise Avatar: the Last Airbender.
Quite honestly, I'd say it's one of the best sequels to any movie ever.
One of the few instances where the sequel is better than the original imo.
“With the ogre I married” always has me breaking into tears
All the conversations that the king has with Shrek make so much more sense once you know his backstory. All he wants is for his daughter to make the decision to become human, like he has, so that she can grow into a role of happiness in the long run. Sadly the difference in their situations is that he fell for a HUMAN woman who couldve loved him no matter what he was, and she fell for a OGRE who was the same way. He literally doesnt understand how becoming a human could be the lesser of the two choices. Its strange how accurately this story discribes inlaw relationships via simple struggles that both sides share experience in
me: realizing that the king and queen was the princess and the frog, forgetting that these arent Disney original stories, most of those disney movies are from ancient folklore so dreamworks can do whatever they want with the characters.
This shows that Shrek was willing to do anything to make Fiona happy while Fiona loves Shrek whether he is an ogre or a human, they’re the best couple in Dreamworks history
Hands down best couple of all time, healty relationship and love, we should inspire to a love like this in my opinion
@@robfus And honestly, romantic relationships from DreamWorks Animation movies in general can rival Disney couples in terms of relationship goals. At least the best ones anyway.
@@williehampton3855 the relationships in Dreamworks are much much more realistic compared to Disney's fairytales
@@pyrokatarina Exactly. In fact, the only Disney relationships that come close to DreamWorks' in terms of healthiness and relatability is Rapunzel and Eugene from Tangled and Nick and Judy from Zootopia.
@@williehampton3855 what about the disney's frog and princess?
18:15 I mean Shrek did honestly try to befriend his in-laws, it's just Harold wasn't giving him a fair chance, Lillian was completely open to the idea though. Shrek isn't excused for his fight with Fiona, but it's not like he isn't wrong either.
12:37 “A for the transition”
Also A for the symbolism! Shrek is an Ogre, the literal most powerful one in the room. In the first film, he (and the villagers) says all the horrific things Ogres are know for/rumored to do. Yet, sitting at a dinner table with his in-laws has turned the mighty Ogre into the opposite; something small, like a rabbit or mouse, that a hawk would make easy work of.
When the writers wrote the “I need a hero” scene, I feel like after that they thought “We can’t do better than this”
32:28 The donkey is indeed a very intelligent, loyal and sensitive animal; it knows how to assess risks and complex situations, and the fact that it refuses to move forward is not out of stubbornness, but out of attention and precaution. It recognises its name, understands commands, can distinguish its owner and has a highly developed memory, it only has to experience something once and never forgets it. They don't run away from predators and some shepherds take them out to pasture with their dogs, because their kick is useful against wolves. They have a hierarchy in which the females are in charge, in fact, entry and exit from stable are ordered, from the oldest female, to the other females, then the foals and finally, the males. They are very affectionate, but they are also wary of those who don't behave cleanly 😊
Anyway, we love Donkey! And yes, this is indeed one of the best sequels among animated movies, fantasy and modernity combined in an entertaining way but also profound, if you grasp the messages.
Shrek 2 is ALWAYS a good idea, whether it's chill night, bored and looking for something to watch, family night, even date night! Can't go wrong with Shrek 2
This is a rare sequel for a DreamWorks film to not only top its predecessor at the box office, but also was more favorable to both critics and audiences along with an Oscar nod for Best Animated Feature.
This success would repeat for How to Train Your Dragon years later.
did you watch the puss in boots last wish?
Here's a theory when Fiona told donkey that a witch cast a spell on her. It was actually the fairy godmother.
I have a theory it was the fairy godmother too. She probably had this marriage scheme planned the entire time
@@cinthiacruzado2594 i mean, back in the old days, people actually believe that not just elf, dwarf and troll cause trouble but fairy too cause evil and misfortune just like witch...
The way the king got even more pissed when Shrek said it’s easy to see where Fiona got her good looks from and the moms just like 😧😬☹️
There’s one thing the fairy godmother didn’t account for…the Happily Ever After potion works on the drinker and their true love. Fiona wouldn’t be able to stay human without Shrek’s kiss. Even if that love potion worked, Charming was never her true love and the potion wouldn’t change that
I guess she just wanted her son to marry into the royal family, and didn't really care for true love or whatever. It wouldn't matter once Charming became king
It's why the king was supposed to give her the love potion
Well, I always figured that she was the one who cursed them in the first place, and so she could lift it as well.
The “Holding Out For A Hero” sequence is the greatest in animated film history. Nothing even comes close.
"Some gender confused wolf" is the best damn joke in the film
Let's be honest - we've all been at the point of saying something along the lines of: "And somebody bring me something deep fried and smothered in chocolate!"
Yes!
These films get better the older you get. Now i get why my dad laughed hard when shrek asked "Do you want me to pack for you?"
It's no wonder the frog-king fell for Queen Lillian when she's practically perfect in every way.
(If you know the actress you'll get the joke)
Haha!
@@stephanniemorin Yo, Haha! Translates to Lol for some reason

😊😊😊
I really wish they would have shown Dragon's transformation. I heard they were going to have her go full pegasus, but they couldn't find a good place in the movie to squeeze it in.
I was always wondering if Dragon was affected by the potion, too!!
The dinner scene with everyone saying each other's name is a reference to Rocky Horror Picture Show, definitely a must-watch if you haven't already!
Watching this as a kid, u think shrek was overreacting to her father’s behavior. But as an adult, u realize that with the context of racism, the dialogue is written in such a way that if the word “ogre” was replaced with a similar-sounding derogatory word, u understand completely why Shrek was so hurt and eager to leave.
Man there’s never been a better scene than I’m holding out for a hero. The fairy godmother kill that shit😂
You'd think Charming would have suspected something when he didn't see a dragon guarding the castle.
Well, he was caught up in his fantasy of how things were going to be when he got there
@@master-of-many-fandoms2020 That checks out.

Wife is always right
My favorite Shrek hands down but the one thing it's always made me wonder is if Shrek drinking the potion changed Fiona, then what did dragon turn into because donkey drank it
She turned into a talking Pegasus type creature. This was the original plan, as she was going to have a bigger part in the story, but things got changed.
This somehow made more money in 2004 than Spider-Man 2 and Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban. I'm still baffled
LOL the "white bronco" chase had me dead. Again, you'd have to be old enough to get it, but there was a famous car chase with OJ Simpson where they chased him in a white Ford Bronco.
Fun fact: Shrek 2 made way more money in box office sales than Shrek 1
made nearly a billion dollars, was the highest grossing animated movie of all time until it was passed by Frozen in 2013

@@TimotheeReacts that’s perfectly fine, the second one just seems better to me.

I always just figured that 'the witch' who cast the spell on Fiona was actually the Fairry Godmother since she told Fiona's parents to put her in that tower in the first place to create a spectacle and set her son up to be king (even though fairy tales keep makignthe man who married the princess the next king that's not actually how it works in monarchies, if a woman marries a king or the prince in line to the throne she becomes the queen but won't inherit the throne on her husbands death - she becomes a princess if she marries a prince - but if a man marries a queen (like queen Elizabeth 2nd) then he becomes the prince consort and can't inherit the throne on his wife's death)
Finally, people who get just as HYPED as I do every time we get to that Need a Hero number. It's something else. Utterly superb from start to finish! Great reaction guys, ty!
Really glad you enjoyed it
Angelina: Hope you’re not sick of me.
Me: Of course not. I enjoy seeing u and Tim
You know it's only just now occuring to me that it was probably Fairy Godmother that cursed Fiona. Think about it, she has a potion that can make people pretty and have it only be permanent if there's a true love's kiss. What else required a true love's kiss? The curse. She's got spells that can turn people into birds, that can turn an ogre to a human and a donkey into a stallion. Why not a princess into an ogre. She was pushing so much for her son to marry into royalty and she helped the king with the agreement that her son would marry Fiona. I definitely wouldn't be surprised is she was the reason Fiona was locked away until she was old enough to marry so she didn't have contact with anyone but her son.
I know its late but just a small line that is often overlooked. When they saw the fairy godmothers cottage Puss says this "she's the biggest producer of hexes and potions" hexes are usually curses so we have a hint right there that she definitely had the resources and notice to curse Fiona
I love these movies and I'm glad to see some more reactions to them. I always loved Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots.
The best ending is still "Shrek Ever After", but this one has some great or awesome moments(Donkey's annoying coach ride antics(the slow leaning forward before making the popping sound again kills me every time), "Holding Out For A Hero", etc;
Love both of your excitement for the best moment ever.
The Black Knight from "Monty Python" and Mary Poppins married, you say? Excellent...
23:51, reference to "Predator", with the noises the Yautja makes and the moving over the tree.
Did anyone ever wonder since the potion Shrek and Donkey drank not only affects them but also their true love; Shrek change with Fiona, that also means Donkey change with the Dragon. I now wonder what did the Dragon change into when the potion took affect? I wonder… 🤔✌️🦊✌️🤔
Everyone always talks about how they don’t want to think of how Donkey and Dragon made the Dronkeys, but I’m more curious about Dragon’s experience of transforming during the movie. Cuz when Donkey had the potion Dragon changed too right?
God tier movie. I'm ashamed my childhood self thought this and the Shrek the Third was the same thing. Every scene is delightful in its own way, every emotional beat earned, every song choice immaculate. I'm so happy you two loved it just as much as I do
This second shrek movie is definitely my fave. That Need a Hero scene...the whole scene...is forever the best animated music moment.
41:18 I'm surprised Fiona didn't ask where Donkey went or wonder why he wasn't at the party after this point.
Also if the blast turned Harold back into a frog then I'm guessing it was meant to turn Shrek and Fiona back into orges, why did it turn Fairy Godmother into bubbles, sparkles and tears?
I assumed it was because she was the only one of the four who didn’t have a second form
It might have been a spell to destroy a person. It turned the king back into a frog because he has two "people" or forms inside (even if one was repressed). So he had the top layer of being a human which was destroyed, leaving him with his other form which is being a frog.
So yes, going by this specific logic, it would have turned Shrek back into a ogre but fairy godmother wasn't thinking straight and simply wanted to kill Shrek. But the spell hitting killed her because she had no "protection" of having another form. She has and always has been a fairy godmother.
That's my mindset. It might sound farfetched but that's what one gets for thinking too hard into Shrek lore haha
@@BeefWagon The spell was actually only meant to kill. Harold’s armor completely deflected it. The reason he turned back into a frog is because when the godmother died all her spells were undone. She states earlier in the movie that she helped Harold with his happy ever after and she can take it away just as easily. That’s the way I saw it.
Shrek 1 and 2 are one of the best movies released in the 2000s! Shrek 2 was the first movie I ever watched at the theaters!
I only just realised who’s voicing the Queen. Julie Andrews. How has it taken my whole life to figure that out?
Fiona picking up the rose was the most badass thing I saw in movies as a kid
It's interesting to imagine who the Dragon was during the potion's action
Timothee, you two really need to watch Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. It’s honestly as good as this, which is saying a lot since they’re both from the same co-director. I’ll not rest until we give this movie the recognition it so rightfully deserves.
You're doing God's work, my friend.
I liked that movie and it made cry a few times

Glad you enjoyed the video bro!
Now that i remember Donkey still could've stayed a Noble Stead if Dragon was there with him. Shrek and Fiona could of went back as Ogres and if Dragon wished to embrace her life as a Pegasus and Donkey as a Stallion everyone might of had their own ending
Puss in Boots is my favorite character and he reminds me that I wanted to see the movie “The Mask of Zorro” and “The Legend of Zorro”
It is impossible that Fiona did not suspect when the king says: Charming? Since in her diary she wrote thousands of times to be waiting for Charming. She means that she also already knew him, maybe she hadn't seen him, but she knew him.
What gets me is that Fairy Godmother is so well known that you'd think everyone would know Prince Charming is her son, yet everyone at the party didn't seem to recognize him.
Fairy Godmother: Put it in C-minor.

Bruh, you had one job XD
His "stretching out his old war injury" or whatever he said there is an easter egg to John Cleese, who voices him, and a line from a 70's British comedy starred in called Fawlty Towers, where he played Basil Fawlty, a very disagreeable but hilarious hotel owner who had an old war injury that he would pretend was hurting him and he had to "stretch it out" when he wanted to distract people. The first time I saw this and heard that line, I immediately knew what it was a reference to and I started laughing so hard and my friends were looking at me like "Wtf is so funny?" XD
The white bronco line was also a joke on the oj Simpson thing
When Donkey's started popping at 8:41 I uncontrollably let food out of my mouth and just started laughing. I didn't remember the part and that caught me so off guard, I can't!
i remember i always loved the "i need a hero" part of shrek 2 so much i always remember it in my memories sometimes
Shrek 2 delivers such a great Message about Accepting yourself.
56:31 Well Donkey did say that Dragon had been moody for a while......there's the reason why.
"I gotta get a job" - I'll say he does.
One of the details I like about Shrek 2, is how Far Far Away is like Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. Another detail is that Fiona’s Parents were from the fairytale Princess and the Frog.
There’s a theory that Fairy Godmother cursed Fiona
I think a lot of people dont understand why shrek leaves after talking to the fairy godmother. Shrek has one of the best examples of imposter syndrome and she manipulates him perfectly
Honestly I think that donkey is lucky that Shrek puts up with him and that Fiona holds back Shrek anger because otherwise I’m pretty sure he would just dislocated donkey’s jaw and knock him out
This is one of the greatest movie sequels ever. I love this movie so much, especially the final act! ^-^
48:37 - 48:46 In Italian this line sounds so much better because it mentions flour right away!Shrek says:
"Conosci ancora l'Uomo Focaccina?" = "Do you still know the Focaccia Man?"
"Ma certo.Quello che vive nella farina.Perché?" = "Sure. The one who lives in the flour. Why?"
"Perché ci servirà della farina.Tanta, tantissima farina!>:-]" = "Because we're gonna need flour.Lots and lots of flour!>:-]"
55:01 - 55:12 *"Beauty&the Beast"WHO?!?!* 😎 #ShrekDidItBetter
Love you both so much, you're my favorite collaborators!
You two should react to Shark Tale together. It's the right level of weird and funny (and not exactly high art) that I think you'd offer some great commentary 😂
Tim you are like the collab-king of UA-cam and I am so here for it!
You’re constantly spreading love to the reaction community.
Hope you enjoy the holidays and thank you for the great content!
😍🙌🏻🙋🏼♀️
Thank you so much! Glad you guys are enjoying the collabs, so much fun with em
@@TimotheeReacts you’re welcome!
Shrek and Fiona transforming back to ogres is one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It's to this day is one of the best sequel I've ever seen alongside Kung Fu Panda 2. DreamWorks really knows how to make amazing sequels. In live-action movies I think Home Alone and Adam's Family are also those rare movies that have even better sequel than original. I see no difference between Puss and Zorro 😂.
Also Tim please react to Brother Bear, Treasure Planet, Legend of the guardians: owls of Ga'Hoole, The Adventures of TinTin, Meet the Robinsons and Hercules when you get time.
RIP Larry King who voiced Doris.
Shrek shouldn't get shit for saying Fiona got her looks from parents. He clearly saw her human form lol
