Tom Waits
😁
thank you so much for reacting to this underrated and underappreciated masterpiece!
I still remember to this day the moment I saw this in theaters as a kid! such wonderful memories!
I really love this Movie it was my childhood it's one of my favorite movies in 2005
React to the Haunted Mansion movie together next
@@nicktechnubyte1184 was one of the reasons I discovered Waits. 🙂
I don’t know why. But my siblings and I always quote “Upgrades people upgrades.” Whenever we buy something new 😂
Well, your siblings aren't wrong when it comes to new stuff being "upgrades." That's pretty hilarious though. 😂
i always qoute "never try, never fail" lol
Duuuuuude!
Same, though only sometimes.
At my job, whenever I meet new workers. I always quote the, "Stick with me kid, I know this place like the back of my hand. Hey..that's new..."
@ Get Shwifty omg that’s hilarious 😂
If you're having a bad day, play 34:58 on loop.
"I'm a woman."
This quote was stuck with me since childhood 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Who are these loser?
We sir-
I’m a woman
Ouch!😬😂
This movie taught me that "sir" is specifically masculine, but it took me years longer to realise "madam(e)" is the feminine equivalent.
This is probably Blue Sky's most forgotten film in their filmography. I wished they would've made a sequel to this instead of four Ice Age sequels.
After this film came out, Blue Sky would become more active in the field of animation as if that 3-year gap between Ice Age and this didn't really matter to them.
RIP Blue Sky
WHO ASKED FOR FIVE ICE AGE MOVIES?!
@@stephanniemorin The first three sequels (especially Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Continental Drift) were huge box office juggernauts worldwide and they were one of the highest grossing animated films at the time.
@@stephanniemorin My ranking of the Ice Age movies is the same ranking of the POTC movies: 3-1-2-4-5. Also, just like the POTC movies, I love all of the Ice Age movies, just some more than others in the franchise. Now, the Ice Age spin-off movie that just came out, despite it being about my favorite Character, Buck, doesn't belong on my rating due to how bad it is.
@@meganlodon same
Whatever role Robin Williams took on, he’s not easy to mistake with his comedic personality!
He played the red robot fender
@@ritapitasunshine I know. Not saying I didn’t know who he played here.
True true true,
So sad the guy isnt around anymore u`u
Rip Robin Williams you were a comedic Jewl
Rip robin williams
It's the easiest find Waldo game. Find Tobin Williams.
"You can shine no matter what you're made of" 💯
I love this film, also the climax/final fight inspired Avengers Endgame haha
From what I read, it was a 2010 movie called "Enthiran" 9translated as 'Robot'). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enthiran
36:03 When this movie first came out this became one of the most iconic moments in animation.
NO CAP. That part will _never_ get old for me.
Best scene of all childhood movies hands down
It is TRULY iconic!
"Making the baby's the fun part" is something I never forget about this film.
This movie has a lot of stuff you miss if you’re not really looking. Like the bathroom signs being a plug and a socket. Those are my favorite types of jokes in movies bc if you see it, it’s great but most people will pass right over it and the creators are ok with that. Like a hidden gem
I love this movie so damn much, and even more going back as an adult. There were so many little jokes you don't get as a kid, but now it just clicks and makes your laugh that you didn't get it before.
It kind of sad that animated movie these day got limit by the parents. All parents think is that one movie can change their children just like a snap of a finger. When in reality, it took time for children to change and all the bad thing only happen when they dont have parents supervision...
@@syabilaazri7834 parents now days are just something else. They actually don't give a sht about kids, when they busy themselves they just give a phone to child. But when it's a movie all of a sudden MY BABY BLABLA ugh
That's why I don't like Disney
This film doesn't get enough credit. the designs are great, the jokes are funny and the characters are memorable. I also like the message, it works on multiple levels. no one should force you to change, you should makes electronics last rather than disposing of them to be replaced with a shinier model. and more insidious, the villains want to get rid of the poor so they can make a shiny city with beautiful people, and they do this by creating a system where the only choice is to have money for upgrades or to die and be recycled. this film ages very well.
5:30 i love when Tim hears his name in movies its kinda wholesome
Hahahah 😂 it actually happens pretty often that I hear tim
This movie man, no many memories watching this as a kid in theaters and it holds a special place in my heart for it's message, humor, and the characters. Thank you Tim and guest for reacting to this under rated movie. You made my childhood heart happy.
RIP Robin Williams
Can you imagine what Robots would be like without the adult humor? It would be pure, nuanced, perhaps an even greater movie.
Nah
Okay the symbols on the toilet doors at 31:10 is the most subtle joke I've ever seen and I literally can't stop laughing at it.
Oh snap I just noticed what it means now THAT was clever absolutely clever
IK IVE BEEN WATCHING THIS MOVIE SINCE I WAS LIKE 2 MONTHS OLD AND ONLY JUST NOTICED THIS
that "baby one more time" scene got me rofl real hard
I wonder who had this idea
I dead ass still have this DVD in my house. It was part of my childhood and will always be part of my childhood. God i miss those days.
Same and I’m not getting rid of it lol
Loved this movie so much
The Britney Spears bit, no matter how poorly/well it might have aged, is still hilarious
I watched this movie in theaters back then with no expectations whatsoever. I ended up laughing nonstop and it became one of my favorite animated films. Seriously it had funny writing with good although occasionally dirty jokes plus a fantastic voice cast. Robin Williams as Fender, the man did an excellent job as usual RIP. Also I loved that Amanda Bynes was in this, had a big crush on her back then. I feel like jokes in animated films today have tamed in comparison to the ones before, who doesn't enjoy a good oil joke?
This movie was a huge part of my childhood. For it’s time, the animation was really stunning and very creative. This movie is one of the reasons I wanted to be a movie director as a kid.
My favorite scene is the "passing gas" scene, "Aunt Fanny, we were using our armpits", that kills me every time especially the next morning when you see the dead body chalk line from the street light 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Lady! PLEASE! SeE a DoCtOr! 😂
Wonderful graphics for 2005. I like the metal elements.
It’s really good for 2005
Ive always loved the way this movie looks
Granted the robot aesthetic likely helped similarity to toy stories plastic characters
I saw this theatrically...one of my few favorite non-Disney/Pixar features. I love how all the characters look like crosses between Japanese toys and American household appliances of the 50s. Kudos to the animators for convincingly rendering changing facial expressions on characters with sectional metal faces.
This movie was one of my childhood favorites. THAT DOMINO SCENE IS INCREDIBLE
The last time I watched this movie was more than 10 years ago and I still vividly remember 36:04 lmao
Man I forgot about the outright dystopian future they portrayed, funny yet depressing how accurate it's become.
A lot filthier than I remembered too, but man it was a nice trip to recover the imaginative and inspiring message.
This film brings back childhood memories. It is such a good movie. Robots Rocks!!
This movie is hilarious and great music. Another underrated movie to watch is Dinosaur by Disney it came out in 2000 and the CGI is incredible. The scene with Finder dancing to Britney Spears is an icon and an original of all original. It came out of nowhere
ROBOTS is a late '00's gem of a movie.
15:10 Sad it never occurred to any of the evil workers that evil or not they still have the right to demand and form a union to get benefits including a decent lengthed break time.
You're right! I think they're just scared of her
Considering where they work and who their boss is, I feel like they tried but some got thrown into the incinerator as an example
Only watched this movie a month ago and instantly realized how great it is. I especially love the Ungerground scene. A perfect villian introduction. (French kiss.)
Also, Bigweld is literally Walt Disney.
Fender was my favourite character in this movie. Robin Williams is just perfect.
I do think that building a baby sounds much less painful than giving birth! It's just so sad that young people who grew up with this movie are being educated for what it truly means. And Rodney as a pure good protagonist really derivers to be more revered because that is the kind of someone we wish for our children to be. It's the reason why I've had a crush on him all these years!
This movie has a lot of the hallmarks of bad animated movies (lowbrow comedy, non-voice acting celebrities in virtually every role, the dance party ending), so I think a lot of people overlook this movie, but it has a lot of heart, and a central theme that can be interpreted a bunch of different ways.
I remember, when I was a little girl, always thought Tim was a puppet because of his height and his way to hold the key.
He reminds me of " Guignol " the most famous french puppet who was very popular during my childhood (I always said that the one who hadn't seen, at least, one show of Guignol, missed his/childhood).
Fun facts : at the station, there's a robot who looks like Sid of " The Ice Age " (during the scene with the robot who pretend to be a false),
When Cappy says " I must be out of my mind " it's the same line than in " The hunchback of Notre-Dame " before Quasimodo goes after Phoebus for finding Esmeralda.
Guignol? That's very unfamiliar to me, cause I'm an American...
@@stephanniemorin like I said, it's a french puppet so it's normal it's unfamiliar for you. I'm french so I grew up with this puppet but it's only know in France.
This movie was a staple in my DVD player. I LOVED it. The animation is SO amazing and the message was fantastic-as someone who grew up in a not rich household. Blue Sky's finest
I remember watching this movie in theatre when it came out. They gave out stickers to kids when they went to watch a movie. My mom thought they were cards and, trying to be helpful, plastified them (sealed them in plastic, not sure what the term is in English) and brought them back to me. She’s still embarrassed to this day about that.
Robin Williams is just perfect, no matter the role
Exactly.
Obi wan and Robin Williams did so good in this movie
You mean Obi Wan and Alan Parrish did a good job in this movie.
@@eugeniapatroncosta920 you’re right lol
I love how thought-out and fully realized this robot world is. I also love Ratchet and Madame Gasket and the "Underground" song scene. And of course, Mel Brooks is amazing as always. Truly one of Blue Sky's best.
Hi again
So today's Fun Fact: In the bonus features there's an a short called, and I quote "Aunt Fanny's Tour of Booty" which is has Aunt Fanny as tour guide, it's actually pretty funny
Bonus Fact: the dancing robot has a games on the DVD where you see different dances it's pretty cool.
The anti-capitalistic themes of Robots walked so the anti-racist themes of Zootopia could run.
I love capitalism 💰💵💸🤑
being fair doesnt mean anti capitalist?
This seems more anti-corporate. The "see a need, fill a need" line is very capitalistic. You have a skill or product that somebody needs/wants, both parties will either agree to a reasonable price, or the customer will go elsewhere.
I hate how there are comments dismissing your very understandable comment LOL
@@cottonhairedaesthetic2005 explain how a robot promoting capitalistic tendencies to fight an unfair corporation is anti capitalist. Go on. Ill wait.
"The force is strong with this one" friggin love that part
"Good Morning, Tim!" 😅👍
-Mr. Bigweld 2005
Tim! What a great name
This movie is so underrated
My favourite running joke is people saying *GiVe Up* when rodney asks what he should do.
Except his dad, which is really sweet.
The animation is crazy! Really impressive for the time.
You don't get something like this
Something stand-alone with rich world building.
Something like this would come out and need like a million sequels.
There's still a lot of Godzilla films, much of the ones by Toho are really hard to upload
With copyright and all. But ones worth watching alone is:
Godzilla vs Biollante(1989)
Godzilla vs Destoroyah(1995)
Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla(2002)
Godzilla Tokyo: Sos(2003)
Godzilla: Final Wars(2004)
🌌🦖🌌
This movie deserves a billion times more acknowledgement
A collab I never thought to see but enjoyed, but this movie was my favorite animated movie growing up after the first shrek
Shrek is love
I loved this movie as a kid. When I was in 6th grade, my friend had his birthday party and his mom took us all to the theaters to see this movie.
Me and my brothers love this movie growing up it was a big part of our childhood and we still quote the lines from the movie
The reason robots came up when you searched meet the Robinsons is because William Joyce (the guy who wrote a day with Wilbur Robinson which later got adapted into meet the Robinsons) designed the art style and characters for robots
One of my favorite movies, i love brining it up in conversations
ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOVIES AS A KID!
I remember watching this multiple times as a kid and I didn’t get everything until watching it again as a 20-year-old.
Interestingly, the shown genocide of obsolete models could be if Skynet took over the world?
Speaking of Robots: Please watch "Short Circuit" (1986)!
Been requested ever since in did my wall-e video
One of my favorites growing up, still speak to me with my creative work. Much of the messages from this movie from the father, I get that from my supportive family
I don't know whether I'm thinking about it too hard, but the way Robot City is depicted, it kind of reminds me of the three layers of the afterlife. You have the upper portion of Robot City where things are great and pretty much paradise for those who live there, then there's the underbelly where Bender and his crew live, that being an in between where the lesser robot's dwell, then you have the underworld, the Chop Shop where robots basically go to die if they don't keep themselves up to date; a place ruled by an evil dictator who commands lots of deadly minions. Heaven, Limbo, and Hell
Another underrated classic.
Definitely underrated
17:31 my favorite Darth Vader reference "The force is strong with this one"
Anyone else notice the grey creeping into Rodney's mother's hair from the finish fading?
One of my fave movies growing up. Great reaction!
Thanks
I was just thinking about this movie yesterday and if you did a reaction to this it or not. You read my mind, thank you.
I loved this movie when I first saw it, and I still do now even more. The story is great, the message it sends is beautiful, the references from other films and pop cultures are classic, and the humor is spot on especially the adult humor.
Thank you for reacting to Robots.❤️
I love this animeted film this is a 10/10
Gotta agree!
Upgrades, People, upgrades... A simple line that's has so many uses that makes it even more funnier.
This movie is a childhood classic
I gotta rewatch “Robots” cause I haven’t seen this since the first time I watched it. PS, the only part of this movie I remember is Fender dancing to Britney Spears’ “Hit Me Baby One More Time”
I wanna watch it too. I had a cd back then and I used to watch it a lot. It never gets old. But I lost the cd. I lost a lot of cds with great movies like Treasure Planet which is also one of my favorites.
9:53
Oh. Oh dear, my keys.
(takes out keys and puts them in a tray)
A competently made movie with a lot of heart. Hollywood needs more of this.
This was my favourite animated movie all time until Happy Feet came along. This movie and Aladdin introduced me to Robin Williams when I was very young ❤️
P.s. in England, the aunt with the big butt was called aunt Fan because in Britain, Fanny is slang for...well, downstairs lady parts 🤣 hahaha
As a Brit, I can confirm this. But from watching CSI, I also know that in USA "fanny" is slang for butt/bottom (hence the amusing term for beating up tourists was "fanny smacking" coz they wear "fanny packs", which in UK we call "bum bags". Either way, it's those pouches you wear on your waist)
@@auricstorm ahhh that makes sense. When I heard Americans calling them fanny packs, I was like why do they say that?! 🤣😂 But you're reasoning kinda clears that up thanks haha
7:56 I love how Rodney's mom's "hair" was all brown when he was a baby, but now that he's a young a adult, small parts of her "hair" have turned gray from either tarnish or a patina that developed over time on the metal. Either way, it's a VERY smart way to show her aging even though they can't really show age like humans can.
This movie is so good and I love it. I have it on dvd and still watch it once in awhile. It never gets old.
I was like 9 or 10 when this movie came out and I loved it, and I also understood the singing in the rain song since I grew up with old school shows like I love Lucy and Gilligan's Island, so I do think some kids would understand it if I did at the time.
Fun fact: 10:05 Sid from ice age in robot form as a teaser for the upcoming first ice age movie
Ahh I remember seeing this in theaters with my family when I was 11! The chop shop's introduction was great: moody, humorous, and a place where death undeniably happened. It added some serious narrative stakes.
_This_ is how you design robot characters. Michael Bay, take notes.
Yeah, live action robot these day look so ugly. I know they try to make realitic metal design robot with CGI but almost all of them look non pleasing for the eyes....and also, they look to violent. Even for the nice robot.
This movie is truly underrated! I remember it being a huge part of my childhood and one of the first movies I watched on DVD fully in English (as English is not my first language) and I was so sad that my friends never saw it and didn't even want to...So many good memories
I loved this movie as a kid and now I'm older I appreciate the message it gives as well as laughing at the jokes and whatnot that originally sailed over my head I've come to love this movie all the more now
This is a perfect movie for the whole family to watch. Fun movie for kids but then so many references and jokes for adults lol.
Robin Williams is also the voice of Batty in Ferngully🌳🦇(1992)
I remember falling asleep to this movie in the theaters as a kid, twice
Can’t wait to see what it’s actually about now
My parents had those DVD players and screens on the back of the driver and passenger seats in the car for road trips. This movie we watched this movie so many times we remembered every line. XD
The evil mother is voiced by a male actor, Jim Broadbent.
The Actor From Harry Potter and The Half-Blood Prince
I really like this movie, i watched it a lot before but it's been a while since i've seen it, I definetly wanna rewatch it sometime
I love Blue Sky's Robots (2005). It's a good movie and a funny movie!
Underrated 2005 ANIMATION! Wow!
Ewan McGregor does a great American accent!
R.I.P. Robin Williams
He is missed
😭😭😭😭😭
such an underrated gem, one of my favorites hands down
1:06 The reason we often link "Meet the Robinsons" and "Robots" together is the following:
Rodney is a young, precocious inventor like Lewis, and both go off on an adventure with kooky new friends who help them find more innovative ideas and challenge their innocent worldview.
AND the character designer for MtR also did Robots. Notice the visual similarities between Rodney and the butler robot in MtR.
so many butt jokes in this movie lol!! thank you for having me join you on this journey!🥺💃🏻🧚🏼♀️🦋🐛✨
Thanks for joining me was a lot of fun! Robin Williams always puts a smile to our face
14:41 - 14:44
Oh trust me! You should be scared! This scene always made my heart beat faster due to fear, and it still does today.
Aunt Fanny is the hilarious character in this underrated movie
ONE OF MY FAVORITE CHILDHOOD MOVIES! My mom and I still reference Fender’s mating call lol
Bro this brings me back to my childhood!
37:25 *insert lego breaking sound*
LOVE THIS MOVIE
ROBIN WILLIAMS IS THE GOAT
Yes he is
I really loved this movie as a kid but still it's a good movie. Also great colab👌
I remember when this movie came out I rented the DVD and "accidentally" forgot to return it. So of course I had to watch over and over again.
Timothy you're very insightful, you nailed it with the parody and self aware humor by checking the director!
i'm glad I did! and glad that was right! generally directors seem to stay within the same genre or style. there's always exceptions, but like a tim burton, you know what kind of movie you are getting into!
Soooo many dirty jokes lol.
Sooooo many BUTTS!!
@@TimotheeReacts all the butts lol
I just watched this movie again on November 29th, 2023 (I lost how many times I've seen this) but this movie still holds up for being released back in 2005 (18 years ago). Also, I realized I only liked this vid and forgot to leave a comment, whoops. This movie has always been my favorite #1 childhood movie out of the entire studio.
Don't get me wrong I like the other movies (Not so much with Epic. Still have not seen the Peanuts Movie). I have loved this movie to the point where I have a fictional crush on Rodney, no joke. Sadly I would have loved if the studio made a sequel or even a tv series. Also, since now I'm an adult I now understand all the adult jokes that I didn't get as a kid that were put in along with hidden details that I missed.
Lastly, I still miss Robin Williams. R.I.P 2014. Wish he didn't die suicidally.
I loved this movie as a kid. I even loved the GameCube game. Such nostalgia indeed.
9:32 definitely has to be. Only a genius with that level of making people laugh has to be Robin Williams if it made me rewind that scene 20 million times! 😂
