This video is absolutely AWESOME. This product is absolutely OUTSTANDING. I had the BEST experience. Pete you are AMAZING. Thank you my friend. GCI Turf Services " ROCK "
I cant enough of your channel... so much great information and it is so interesting to both watch and listen. I love your passion and energy for your videos and content. Keep them coming!
I can’t wait to see a huge flag painted in Pete’s yard for the 4th of July!!! Put your Picasso hat on Pete!!! The red, white, and blue would look awesome!!
Pete, I was one of them when I was riding by the shop on my way home and about ran off the road when I noticed it was green! I have been waiting for this video to come out! It looks so good!
I have seen other videos where the landscaper noticed that the homeowner had put down too many layers of mulch over the years and it had not decomposed so putting a new layer after installing new plantings would have been overkill. Painting would be perfect in that scenario. I have used the spray can lawn paint on dog pee stains in my front yard (thank you neighbors) and it did what I needed it to do. One challenge is that a lot of us have fescue lawns but our neighbors have zoysia and I find myself pulling zoysia roots out of the lawn (with mixed success) and something like this would make a good Plan B in the dormant season. All good stuff, Pete.
I’m going to have to admit here since we are all grass lovers. One year my grass was looking so good and I had ONE spot that went in the summer and I stared at that one spot constantly instead of enjoying the 99.8% that looked amazing. I took some green spray paint and just gave it a “touch up” to blend it in so you couldn’t see it !!!!!! 🤣🤣 boy I’m glad I could finally get that secret off my chest hahahah. Always great content Pete! Merry Christmas, God Bless! Steve
Pete I just did the same thing to my front yard because I really wanted to see how it looked. It felt weird doing it but I learned a lot. I can see a use for it, like covering this darn Poa Trivialis!
Shoot Pete. Now I’ll have to go around and paint my dormant weeds so the entire fescue/ kbg lawn looks sharp this winter. Weeds blend in like they do in the summer. Hahah! Pete post another video alternating with a second pass to try to stripe the lawn. - maybe a dark dark green paint color. DO IT!
Amazing blew my mind. I find nothing wrong with this. Petes grass is dam near perfect dormant. So in reality if it was hot there it would be perfect green anyway. But being able to paint you LOGO in the middle. Country Flag etc. love it can't wait to look this up.
I enjoy my paper sack brown, but I may surprise my wife with some Christmas stripes! That would be very cool! Thanks again Pete. Merry Christmas! To all! 🇺🇸💪
Next thing we know you will be on" P.B.S." teaching how to paint happy little blades of grass !!! I'm in the PNW and I would say most average homes in my area are not irrigated or watered in Spring or Summer. Most yards go brown like yours, but in Summer. I could see a great seasonal service to offer .
This is perfect for someone living in a HOA community. I have GCI TTTF so my lawn stays green all year (in SoCal) but my neighbors are constantly getting fined during winter for there dormant st. Augustine. I may need to just use this as a local business opportunity for winter lol.
If I had Bermuda grass, I would definitely do that!! In NC you could probably get by with painting it about twice while its dormant!! Looks like a good product!! Thanks, Pete!!
Nice job. I can attest to this methodology. I worked for many years at Disney in Orlando. We routinely painted the turf green and the mulched ornamental beds brown before film shoots or other special events. AAMOF, the paint we used was latex based, held up quite well and looked great.
Id love to get my hands on one of those edge wheel sprayers. I’ve been using their products for a couple years now and edging has always been the toughest part for me. I use the fairway color. Love the way it looks Bermuda.
Wow! They have way more than just the lawn paint. Would you be willing to test out some of their products on lawns? Especially the ones for heat stress and soil compaction?
Now I have some real food for thought. I've always had TTTF and really didn't think about having Bermuda grass as I dont like the way it looks in the winter. I do like the way it looks in summer and I could just paint it in the winter. Great video, thanks Brad & Pete!
The video I didn't know I needed!!!! I was looking for an option for my mulch instead of putting ANOTHER layer down. Thanks Pete! You're my favorite grass guy (Ron Henry is a close second)!
I gave this stuff a try and it really does enhance the color of cool season grass through the winter freeze. I wouldn’t use it in an area where kids play though. I applied it a month ago and our kids have green on their skin and clothes now😡
We have a car dealership up near Detroit that does this, and it does not look good when done. It has that blue tint he mentioned and then stands out in a bad way next to the other dormant grasses.
Looks great Pete! Clearly it doesn’t matter this time of year, as the paint will wear off by spring, but do you know if there is any paint on the turf as we approach growing season will the presence of paint on the grass blades slow down photosynthesis/growth?
I’d try it if I didn’t have the GCI TTTF grass staying green all year lol hahaha. It would be interesting to see this product mixed with a some sort of Rgs, micro green, or other growth additive to help improve the turf itself. Perhaps maybe even a blend that helps stimulate growth and deliver a winterizer at the same time as you apply to help during the winter. ORRR even better, have this mixed with a preemergent for a mid -late Feb application. Now I’m on a role! What about some sort of PH balancer or liquid nutrient mixed with it to spray urine spots on discolored grass or dead grass from urine needing to be over seeded. Hope all is well Pete, big fan from Stafford VA. -Nico
Hmmm this is interesting. I have rye/kbg in Seattle that is green all year but I have red thread spots all over right now. I might use this to cover those until it grows out in the spring.
May we just interject here. It is very important to grow good stands of turf during the growing season to have the best canvas possible should one choose to color enhance dormant turf. Hence, a good fertility program and proper irrigation techniques are crucial for optimal results.
I burnt my lawn with fertilizer and i painted my lawn 2 weeks ago til hopefully it greens back up on its own but if not I’ll have to pull up the sod later but hopefully it greens up
Pete I’m not sure you’ll reply but I’ll ask anyways lol. I’m in Mass. Im on a newly renovated (2 years) PR and KBG lawn. I just got a puppy and now she’s 1. She’s is so fast and cuts so fast left and right she’s tearing up massive divots in my lawn. I don’t see any sign of grubs but the roots are shallow. Do you think I should add fescue in? Or thoughts? God bless and merry Christmas!!!
I’m getting ready to paint my Bermuda with the flo zone. I will be using the cone tip. My question is which pressure setting did you use on the sprayer?
Thanks for this information Pete! In PA we are 98% cool season but do have Zoysia lawns peppered in. In the past I have turned down any calls I get for them due to the expense of treating them on a different program than my regular cool season customers. This product might change that... at least for the winter when they are dormant.
Definitely a great concept but I love my GCI TTTF and I just don’t think I’d feel right painting it. Not that it needs it at all though 🤣 Merry Christmas and God bless everyone!

They messed around and gave Pete an art degree

WOW PETE! Great video.
My Italian father always said to just pave the lawn and paint it green, but this saves a lot of money by cutting out the paving part. 🤣
Excellent. Now I can spray the dirt where my Bermuda died

I wish I could post a picture for you.

If it rains, does the paint run off onto the sidewalks and driveways and stain them? Does it gave to be reapplied after a rain?
Take the lighter green paint and the darker green paint and you can stripe your lawn
You can do double passes in areas with the same color to give that effect or you can burn in the lines before you apply
Can you mix a weed killer with it like prodiamine? How much surfactant per gallon of endurant can be added?
How does this impact the grass’s ability to receive sunlight?
Pretty cool
Hey Pete. Maybe I missed it, but what pressure setting did you spray using the 2.5 Typhoon when applying?

Yes we have many lawn care companies in Texas that do this in the winter and St. Augustine is the main turf type they are treating in Texas. The best color for St Augustine is Endurant Perennial Rye (PR).
What's the name of that edge sprayer and where can I pick one up?

Oh no
Can it be mowed high for dandelions?
How many ounces per 1000 sq ft did they say this covered?? Did I miss that
1 gal typically covers about 6500 sq ft depending on depth of starting shade and desired end result color as well
