Hi, my friend, congratulations on the pair of videos, which are of great help to us mechanics, I have put and replaced the hoses and also the thermostat of the carburetor but I have not managed to get my truck in the morning to turn it on by itself , I have to be accelerating until it warms up, I hope you can help me and once more happiness for your videos
You need to depress the accelerator pedal once to set the choke and raise the fast idle cam before starting the engine. Confirm that you are doing this and that you are on the fast idle cam. If it still idles to slow when cold you need to increase your fast idle speed.
So, the vacuum fittings at the base of the carburetor are all manifold vacuum? That would be a good position to attach a hose to the AC system for vacuum operated devices like flaps, etc? There’s one at the front of my baseplate that’s the right size to connect to my vacuum canister in my ‘68 Chevelle.
Do Holley sell a replacement fitting for the timed vaccum oort from the carb to the distributor? I'm broke mines off of my 1850-4 carb trying to mount it.
You need the vacuum advance to go to a manifold vacuum source for proper vacuum advance function. Im not sure why Holley tells you to use "timed" or "ported" vacuum on the vacuum advance, that is exactly opposite of what the engine requires. Typically the mechanical advance in a distributor will supply 15-20 degrees of mechanical advance and the vacuum advance will supply about the same amount of advance. If you set up you ignition to Holley's recommendations you will only have 0-10 degrees max base idle, the car will not run very good this way. If you attach the vacuum advance to a manifold source you will set your timing to manufacturers recommended settings then when you attach the vacuum advance hose your timing will increase giving you a good idle and good low to mid rpm drivability, plus the ignition curve will follow a path that gives you max performance, When going up a slight hill you need to apply more throttle, with manifold vacuum your timing will decrease a little so the engine does not ping, if attached to a timed or ported source your engine will likely ping under slight loads causing you to retard timing and decrease performance. This is exactly how the manufacturers designed the vacuum advance system, to keep timing as far advanced as possible without pinging, a manifold source will do this for you.
Hello! On my car the PVC valve not suckin air like before! Even when i disconnect the pvc from the top of the valve cover my Rpms doesn't rise like they should whenever you disconnect it! Already put a new PVC valve and inspect the hose but its good! Anything else i need to check??? 84 mustang gt carb. Just rebuild my carb too so idk if has to do with carb. Any help will be appreciated thanks!
im trying to find where to connect a vaccum modulator on my fairlane with a 302 engine. it had a AOD before that was busted, and now i need to find a vaccum line to the c4. not sure where to take it from. i have a motocraft carb
@@HolleyPerformance thank you! can you somehow feel the pressure/vaccum coming out from a port with the engine on? i suppose i dont want a timed port, but something that sends out all the time?
Greetings, I have a Holley 4150 0-4778C installed in a 1965 Ford 289, I had to acquire an automatic transmission TCI 511200 C4, now the point is WHERE in the carburetor you can connect the hose from the transmission vacuum modulator valve? I see only 1 port that is for the distributor timing, some other videos recommend do not make a share connection in "T", Can you help? #2: For the booster´s hose vacuum, what kind of valve is that you mention PCV? I have the intake manifold Street Dominator, but I need you tell me exactly what´s the name of any fitting, valve or device that can be installed in the back of it for the booster´s hose In advance, Thanks for your concern & prompt response
I just put a New Holley 4 barrel on my 1975 Pontiac Catalina 4400. Carburetor is backfiring and popping when I give it gas. Any help here. Must it be tuned to my car never had this problem with before out of my 2jet carburetor.
ENLIGHTENED CHILD OF GOD THE OFFSET out of curiosity, where did you connect your transmission vacuum line to? It's on the far left. I'm guessing you've got a 400 as well?
Make sure you use a vacuum port connected with the fuel/ air system. You may have ports (at the front) of the manifold, which will be for your temp sensor to monitor engine temperature, which will run coolant through them.
What’s a transmission kick down you where talking about???? I just changed motor and rebuilt carb and now my car transmission doesn’t shit up gears .. 86 cutlass 307
There is a vacuum like that goes from your transmission to your engine next to your trottle body it may look like a square if so you need to replace it the the proper vacuum connection
How do I hook up vacuum on a1975 CorvetteFor the transmission kickdown and the headlights is vacuum ,I’m putting a 383 stroker in it and was wondering how that would still work
You'll have to consult a factory service manual for your vehicle. But I would assume that there is some sort of splitter or vacuum tee/tree that you will connect manifold vacuum to, then it splits off to the trans and headlights. The vacuum supply can come from the 3/8" port on the back of the carburetor or directly from the manifold. Thx J
how about not hooking up the PCV valve ....plug off the vacuum port for the PCV....That way the motor doesn't suck in hot smoky crank case gasses..only fuel and clean air...I'm really speaking for a race type engine...not a stock one...
@@cooleydread3215 Just run a couple breathers on the valvecovers. Use the type that comes with a crankcase evacuation and run a hose to a bung welded into your header or on a collector extension. On the street just run the hoses to a remote catch can with a breather on it.
I bought a Weiand charger for three grand plus five hundred for a carb. What a pos it leaked the first day I bought a gasket kit for seventy dollars. That's when I seen the shoddy machine work. When it was drilled the bit must have been dull and it chipped the gasket surface. I'm going to be taking it apart and making a utube video. Shane whites carver with Holley performance said how do I know it didn't come from a blower shop like that ? I bought it new. Why would a blower shop drill the holes on the front of a case ? He couldn't answer. He's suppose to be their top tech guy. It's the best Holley performance can do. I wish I would've bought a leaf blower instead. It would've been a lot less problems and more power.
Thank you very much! Had a hard shifting C6 and thanks to this realized the PO had the vacuum routed incorrectly! Smooth as butter now!
Glad it helped!
Great ilustration fo where to conect the Distributor Vaccum advance line.
Thanks, you made my 1963 Falcon with a 289 run better.

Thank you Sir. I will be replacing the throttle body with a Holley 4 bbl carburetor on my 89 K5 Blazer.

Link to this carburetor? Can't find one with the pcv port
So you can have a mechanical secondary with a vacuum advance distributor, correct?
my vacuum lines were mix up. thank you now my truck runs like new.

what would happen if you do share a brake booster vacuum line????
A space/time warp will open up and take you to another dimension.
But I've done it before and got away with it, just make sure you have a one way check valve on the booster side.
THANKS!!!!!!
what about dual vacum distributer?

You'll have to elaborate on which vacuum line you are referring to? Maybe send the carburetor list # and a picture also? thx
