This feels like a therapy session with Rick convincing himself to use the hybrid lol. I think it's time for a few fine-tuning lessons. You've tinkered with your swing all season and changed things that made you a lot stronger with irons and wedges, and now need some fine-tuning with the top end of the bag using lessons. It's amazing how everyone goes through it. I went through a similar journey this season. Granted, it might have been due to watching your videos, and following your journey; I now have lost confidence on the top end of the bag and need some lessons with the season ending for us.
I like that you've not just put out a pefect session. You could have easily re-shot that so it all looked perfect but kudos to your integrity for showing us exactly how it was. Like you say, golf is a funny old game
Had exactly the same "hole" in my bag, tried the hybrid for a while, didn't love it, tried a 2 iron, liked it & 6 months ago put a Wilson 5 wood in, perfect. It's the most workable club in my bag & feel I can hit any shot with it with it's natural shape a nice soft draw out to 215m (230-235y)
I would love to see a video of Rick having a lesson. Ive had lessons myself at different levels of my play. I would be curious to see what a lesson would look like for someone with the capablities Rick has. Correct me if I am wrong but hasnt Rick also commented that he struggles with his shots going left, which is present in this video. I would be interesting to see to process of working on this and how to work on something such as this. Im sure this would make not only an interesting video but also be very informative to many viewers.
Thanks Rick, made me think of a similar problem I had. My 3 iron (Mizuno Pro 225) great for those long stingers, but struggling to get any loft....Tried the Taylormade Qi10 Tour hybrid....was very impressed, and straight into the bag.
Thanks Rick, I appreciate you sharing your struggle. I am a weekend hobbyist, love golf but at 62 I find myself just not able to hit as many balls as I used to, so practice suffers a bit. 3 years I crushed my irons but struggled with my woods/hybrids. This year I am crushing my driver/wood/hybrids and can’t hit long irons at all. Ad a non-pro I have come to accept that. But you are still a young guy so maybe the other commenters are right and a lesson might help. I would dearly love to see that video, your speed lesson with B.D. Was transformative for my driver.
Cool. At 63 the longest iron in my bag now is a 7i with a 16.5-3w and until the tip sheared off a 22-7w. I watched Fred Couples who is my age put a 9w in his bag. I’m headed that direction. I’ve been as low as a 7hcp and I’m currently holding a 13.9 but shot 40-41 in a recent club event and won. Sorry for the long winded response but my point being is sometimes do what’s best for you and not try and keep up appearances. Although I do have a TM driver 3i I use from the woods if I’m trying to get up the fairway. Good luck with your game. It’s a rollercoaster.
Ya man get on board…..I love my hybrids as a senior player I don’t even carry an iron below a 6 anymore just the 3,4,5 hybrids. Like you said sometimes I’ll top them a bit but at least not like I use to do with my long irons I tended to hit them thin or fat much to often…I’m so thankful for todays hybrids ..👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Rick learning what most older golfers knew a decade ago... Hybrids are easier to hit, great out of the rough, choked down punch shot to get out of trouble. plus and minuses with everything but, hybrids come out on top for most golfers
Got a 4 hybrid rogue max I absolutely love . My go to club right now off the tee . Can hit it 250 in middle to fairway off tee and anywhere from 200 -230 off the ground . The slower the further . Learning this with my hybrid the more intentional I’m at slowing my pace the more I hit the absolute piss out of it
100%. I’ve only been playing for two years. Putting a hybrid in the bag helped me start to break 90 consistently. Mostly because of that choke down punch shot that gets me out of trouble but still gives me a chance at par or bogey.
I was fit for this exact hybrid by TaylorMade. I was told it would be my magic cheat stick. Does exactly as it says. Glad to see you using it too Rick.
I’ve felt the same way love a 2/driving iron couldn’t find a hybrid that fit my eye or swing finally by chance I found an Admas 2014 mini pro hybrid I absolutely love it the smaller head shape is confidence inspiring at set up, only cost me 30$ for the head only
Great stuff, mate. I recently pulled my old steel-shafted Cleveland Golf Halo 2i and 3i hybrids from circa 2009 out of the rafters and stuffed them back in the bag. I took out my Taylormade 5 metal and Hybrid. I forgot how accurate I was with the Halos. Sometimes, what's old is new again.
I have a T200 2-iron and a 21° 7 wood, and it’s made a nice combo for me. I will just take out an iron like my 7 if I want to keep both of them in the bag, or pick either the 7 wood or 2-iron to pull from the bag depending on the day.
The smaller head "PRO" hybrid Rick is using is designed for a downward blow (like an iron). I have them but, being more of a "picker" i find them useless. I CAN sweep the LARGER HEADED HYBRID, FAIRWAY WOODS and UTILITY IRONS equally well. It really comes down to how YOU contact the ball.
A hybrid is a small head... The 'larger heads' you're talking about, aren't real hybrids. They're just Woods with the hybrid name. Most males see 9, 7 and 5 woods as a female club. We'll, change the name and consumers consume without thought. 😉
@@tankeater Thanks for your reply. I agree in principal. A true Hybrid is defined as "... a type of club used in the sport of golf with a design borrowing from both irons and woods while differing from both." The midsize hybrids I spoke of are admittedly based on Rescues with a midsized head that is smaller than a wood but larger than the pro Hybrids, but they are still identified by many influencers as Hybrids. This is probably because TaylorMade has a lock on the term "RESCUE" and so other companies offering a similar product have labeled them as HYBRIDS. Going forward I will call then what they are, RESCUES, not Hybrids.
@@randy9573 Actually I did not specify either 3 or 4 irons or hybrids. For the record I have both and the 19.5 (3)and 22.5 (4) Pro hybrids. I have been playing golf since the early eighties and have about 1,000 irons in my collection including 1-4 irons of all types. I used to be able to hit the long irons quite well, but the modern ball has made it more difficult to use bladed long irons. I can still hit hollow utility irons quite well, i just can't hit TRUE HYBRIDS.
I recently went through a similar route. I used to have a 5 hybrid and I absolutely hated it. Eventually sold it. Since then my game has changed to a point where I hit a friends hybrid and it was brilliant. It has been in my bag now 5 months and has completely changed how I play. Golf is hard, we go through changes. If this hybrid works for you, I am here for it! Keep it up Rick!
Even I your prime 2 iron days you reviewed the TM GAPR and out of the 3 (hi- mid- low) you surprised yourself with which one you preferred. Being a 2 iron guy you thought it would be low all the way. Yet preferred the mid as it was so versatile. And discounted the hi as you “didn’t” like hybrids. TM still make albeit updated this club as the Sim, Stealth and now P-DHYs are just minor variations except the P-DHY looks a hell of a lot better than its predecessors. I’d love to see you go DHY as it more forgiving than your P790 3/4 iron and you can keep them down more than a hybrid. I have a Frankenstein of GAPR 3 Mid @18deg and Sim DHY 4 @22 at the top of my bag and love them.
A few weeks ago I was considering buying a couple of hybrids to replace my 4 & 5 irons. I looked high and low for some HIT Golf reviews on hybrids, and almost talked myself out of buying hybrids since Rick didn't like them... But I bought them anyways. They've worked out fantastic, and this video is so validating.
Put a stealth 2 3 hybrid in the bag for the gap … and absolutely love it! So much that I got a 4 hybrid. The 3 hits rockets … low fairway finders. My 4 I feel is more versatile. I can hit it low or put it up in my stance and get quite a bit of extra height and can get it to land pretty soft into the green. Cheers Rick 🍻
I love a good kislux because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!
I've always had an issue with your previous videos about swinging a hybrid. You don't sweep with them like you'd think, and around 6:55 you mention hitting it like an iron. That's exactly what you're supposed to do, and it is working for you! That low and left shot shape is from a lack off compression, so no wonder you're doing well with a hybrid.
I don't get on with hybrids. Something about them I just struggle with. I've had a 7 wood in the bag for the last 6 months. It's been my favourite club. Fit's pretty well for me between 4 iron and 3 wood.
Great comment, I sold my cobra forged tech 3 iron, bought a mint never been hit cobra f9 7 wood, super versatile short / long hits a breeze, changed my game to handicap dropping slowly…………. More tour players / amateurs using them know finally knowing the benefits of the club 😉
I couldn’t stand my old cobra hybrid but hit my woods well, I went and tried all the new hybrids and the qi10 was the move, it feels a bit more like a wood to me than the other brands offerings
Seems like your miss “leaky left hook” isnt anywhere near as prominent with the hybrid. I think it will make a noticeable difference, and can mitigate situations where those go too far left and it ends up a little chip to the green instead.
I have a 20 and 24deg Hybrid from Inesis. Some people say they're not good, but I tried my best to find a better hybrid that will give me more distances at a golf shop. Taylormade rescue was great but not better. I am sticking another year with my El Cheapo Inesis 500, why change, they are perfect for me, but my daughter works as a student in a golf store and I am able to get ridiculous deals on whatever I want.
I've got the cobra hybrid with the baffler rails and I really like it. I feel like I can chuck the kitchen sink at it and not hit a bad shot. I've also played some great shots out of trouble with it. It's great for nutting one out of the trees and getting it down there.
I personally think numbered clubs should be identified by loft only, like wedges. Sick of OEMs saying it’s the longest 7 iron ever. Of course it is if it’s the loft of a 6 or 5 iron from days gone by.
I'm the opposite with hybrids. They are so much easier to hit than long irons. Fly higher, land softer with same or better distance. I replaced my 5i with a 5 hybrid this year. So the top of my bag is 5-3 hybrid, 4 wood, driver. I'm a 51yo 13hc with average driver distance around 250, so take that into consideration.
Rick, I don't really know what about the twist face that you don't like but going back and watching your videos. You hit the Qi10 really well. After watching your troubles in South Carolina. I am finding it hard to believe that you would not take another chance in playing it???
I tested the tour and the standard qi10. I loved the look and feel of the tour but the dispersion was too much. The standard one was an absolute weapon! Long and straight. I love it. Straight in the bag!
Rick enjoyed watching your scores dropping and some putts falling. Seemed like your focus on lower scores has been working. The hybrids flexibility is putting a lot of 2 and 3 irons to the time out corner. Seems the lower scores from hybrids is worth giving up that sometimes rare unreal feeling of crushing a 2 iron center face.
my hybrid is a golf weapon, Makes it so easy to hit high draws and fades or low stinging hooks and cuts to get out of trouble and back in the fairway if needed.
That is the toughest hole in the bag. Please try or review the qi10 7 wood! It’s been a game changer for me. I go 4 iron to qi10 core 7 wood then stealth 2 plus 5 wood. Plus 5 wood is like a 3 wood for me…Almost as long but way more accurate and consistent distance with the shorter shaft
Rick have you tried the Mizuno Flihi iron a ailable in 3 lofts with graphite shaft. They are si ply awesome and so easy to hit. I'd love to see you review one
Went almost same, 7 wood replaced the long iron. Game changer. And the 330-380 par 4s now a full short iron in rather than 60-80% approach. Have literally gone from 12 to 9 since went in the bag.
I’m new to golf since July of 2024 I got my first birdie on a par 3 because of my favorite club a Hybrid 23°. Drove 180ish onto the green within 2.5feet. Still trying to get myself confident with the Driver but Hybrid always me to get control-able distance.
I’m struggling with the gapping at the top end of the bag as well. This has been a constant issue in my golf bag since I started playing with 4 wedges instead of 3. The current gapping club between 3W (15 deg) and 4I (24 deg) is 5W (19.5 deg), and that’s been the best option so far. It always seems like I wish I had one more slot. 😢
I have a Stealth 2H that has turned into my go to club both off the tee and on those long fairway shots. I still have a 3 wood in the bag but the 2H is only about 10 yards shorter and to be honest I use it at least three times more than that club. If I didn't love my 3 wood so much as a club I probably would retire it. But I can do more with the 2H and that stinger you like is something that even I (a very mediocre golfer) can do.
This might be more of having a higher handicap but I've moved away from hybrids and use a 5 and 7 wood. There now my favourite clubs to use. Just curious of your opinions of them and whether you would consider putting them in the bag for yourself
My hybrid 22° is my favorite club, I use it from the tee for shorter distances, from fairway/rough and also "putting" from off the green, usually much closer than chipping. I asked myself for a long why you and others don't have one in the bag. 😃
Thanks for making such honest and relatable content Rick. I really struggle with confidence on the course. When my mind is right, I play to my potential, when it's not I'm god awful. I completely relate to getting clubs that make you feel confident (having just replaced my entire bag for the first time). Even if the results aren't wildly different, they create a gateway to improvement and that's huge! Ignore the armchair warriors who apparently have all the answers. Trust your choices, they've gotten you this far! ❤
I used to hate hybrids. But, due to age and injury I’ve lost a lot of swing speed and found that I was having a harder time getting the loft I like out of 4 iron. I picked up a 20 degree hybrid and turned it up to 21 degrees. It has been a perfect replacement for my 4 iron. I get the left I like and when I don’t hit it in the middle it doesn’t hurt as much as a miss hit 4 iron. I’m not as good as I used to be so the forgiveness helps a lot.
Very amusing video Ric, so true to life. I did the same last year and took my 2 iron out the bag and replaced it with a 3 hybrid. I also put a Stealth DHY in place of my 4 iron. Have you thought of trying a DHY. I’m a member of 2 golf clubs ones over 7000 yds but quite generous on fairways the other is only 5700 from the white tees but narrow. I swear by my DHY on that course as it’s metronomic straight.
I’m doing the same. Dumped the 3 iron I used to hit and ordered the tour rescue 4 as I’m only looking for a club to go 220-240yards. My TM mini driver goes 250-265 Then I’m going to get fitted for a driver in February to hopefully cover 270- 300+ Finally getting the top of my bag sorted , I hope.
Back in the 1980s as a teen I had a RAM Laser 1 iron (cavity back) and then 2 iron down to PW in a forged blade -- I can't really believe nowadays using both the 1 iron and 2 iron vs a hybrid!
I started bagging a 3 hybrid 15 or so years ago and couldn't imagine playing without it anymore. Stealth 2 is what im on now and it's a great club but my all time favorite hybrid was the cobra baffler. Loved that club so much and had it stolen sadly
As a player that uses the qi10 tour i couldn't agree more, i had that horrible spot in my bag between 4 iron and 3 wood, for years i messed around with 5 wood or utility irons and 3 hybrids i couldn't get on with anything, i use the 2 tour and add 1 degree off loft to it and never been more confident from that kind of range out.
I recently ditched the 4i to 4Hyb half way through last season (played 59 rounds total). Its so much more forgiving and I tend to hit a lot of rough 2nd shots. Playing more difficult courses with slope ratings 131-140. Last 12 rounds I also removed my 5wood and replaced it with a 3Hyb. Same result. Way more consistent. Im sold on Hybrids and debating switching my 5i to a 5Hyb next spring!
I used to love playing long irons (1 & 2!), but now I’m 55, I have 17, 21 & 25 degree hybrids. I’m beginning to prefer the 25 to my 5 iron as just so much more consistent and extremely high flying for soft landing shots of about 190-200.
Hello Rick, I was noticing that you are playing the hybrid forward in your stance. Very similar to how you line up your three iron. I am curious what the shaft length is. The reason I ask is when I added a 4 hybrid to my bag I was tought to hit it like an mid range iron. Which meant to place the ball closer to the center of my stance. You are making great contact so it probably does not matter. I have a ping G400 4 hybrid. I play it right smack in the middle of my stance and hit an average of 220 with a perfect shot going 235. Just curious if you have any thoughts on that?
Hybrids are an interesting club ive had a love hate relationship with them myself. Last year's cobra arrowjet 5 hybrid with a Kbs xflex pgi shaft has been the match for me. I tried the QI Hybrids but couldn't find a shaft head combo that felt as good as the cobra for me.
My 3-hybrid is my favorite club in the bag. When the driver is not finding fairways, I can pull it out and get 250 down the middle every time and turn things around.
I must be doing something wrong. I see all these people being able to hit their hybrid 250 yards. Even giving my 3 hybrid everything I’ve got it doesn’t go past 200.
I did the opposite. Went from a hybrid to a 3 iron. Feel much better with it. Confidence is higher and I feel like I'm striking it better. It's been a joy off the tee. I've yet to reach a green but the same can be said about my hybrid. It also feels much more like the rest of my irons. With my hybrid, I always felt like I had to manufacture a swing because when I tried just using the same swing I did with my irons, it didn't seem to give good results.
I bet if you took the same number of shots with the 3/4 iron, the same consistency and dispersion wouldn’t be there. For me there’s a night and day difference in the way you hit both, putting the hybrid in the bag is a huge plus (imo). Lovinggg the content recently, especially the real longerrr format stuff, the major was epic!!
When you're striking it well any club is magical, but on those days when nothing seems to be working, a hybrid/wood will not punish you as much. Most players need far more hybrids/woods in their bags. Look at Fred Couples current bag of clubs... his longest iron is a 7. And Fred is still pretty strong, he hits driver 285... most average golfers can't hit that far (or accurate).... so why are they out there trying to smash a 3/4/5/6 iron. Make things easier for yourself, get more hybrids/woods.
I would not even play golf with a set like Freds, even if I adore his swing. Hybrids never give same satisfaction from hitting the middle than irons. Hitting the sweet spot on a long iron is the best feeling in golf. For me golf is not only about maximising the result.
One thing I did not hear you mention in terms of versatility of the hybrid is (also) the ability to putt with it in certain lies around the green. Perhaps better than chipping? PS - Are you sure that the shaft setting is right (might be too stiff)?? MG
Having the same circumstance for past 3 weeks. I play to 16 handicap. Own Ping G700 from 4i - Lob wedge. Struggle to hit the 4i acceptably. Only 20% of the shots land where I intend. Substituted it with same loft Taylormade Stealth hybrid. Far better consistency. But here's an interesting side note: While at my teaching pro's studio I tried several same loft 7 woods. Though player consensus is that the 7 fairway wood is supposed to be easy to hit I could not hit it worth a damn. Was even worse than the 4 iron. Strange but true.
Hey Rick, I was the same way I now have a 4 hybrid and a 4 rescue and they both are amazing for me. I use my 4 hybrid for off the tee and fairway and 4 rescue for the rough and if I need to hit a higher shot. My 4 rescue is really cool since it hangs in the air for 8 seconds and travels 220 yards.
@MrImpossible86 the difference between my two clubs is the hybrid isn't as lofted and has a smaller head, and my rescue has a bigger more forgiving face with more loft. It's about a 4 or 5 degree loft difference.
You hit the hybrid far more consistently even though you were missing the green. Hybrids are great once you get used to them. Very versatile. Although I will agree it’s tougher to keep them low
Hybrids are just more versatile. those 2-iron "hybrids" like P790 or T200 or whatever just don't allow most golfers to hit enough variety of shots and mishits are still punished pretty badly. I ditched my 4-iron a couple of years ago and went with a TSi2 21* that I lofted up 1 click. Absolute money club that works in so many situations and I can elevate where my 4-iron flight was too flat. And I was not a hybrid lover before at all - found them too draw-biased and too hot but now their construction is much much better and not just geared to higher handicappers. p.s. Rick, get a driver fitting. Watched the Solina videos and driving was an absolute car crash most of the time. Go work with James Robinson for a week and get a proper driver fitting not just pulling out some freebies and blasting them in the sim studio.
I had D, 3W, 2hybrid, 4-PW for years. I could not get my muscle memory to remember the different swings I needed for all the different clubs. When I was hitting it well, the hybrid was amazing. But it required a swing unique to all other clubs in the bag. Eventually I also lost consistency with my 3W. So finally about 1 year ago I dropped 2H for a 5W and since that swing is so similar to a 3W swing I can finally consistently hit both 3W and 5W now. If I could've gotten my brain to keep all the shot types I would still prefer a hybrid to fill the 3W to long iron gap, but for me it will be 5W for the foreseeable future.
Finch loves his, no wonder Rick's followed suit. Surprised it took so long to be honest. By the way, well done at Solina pal, your short game is so much better and your putter has to stay for good!
The Qi10 Tour hybrid is difficult to use, it’s not forgiving and requires a near centre strike all the time. The standard one which is more forgiving goes further . All the Tour offers is an adjustable hosel.
I hated Hybrids too, and have been on Long Irons for ages. Randomly picked up a brand new 18 degree XXIO 3 Hybrid for about $150 NZ on a whim recently and something just clicked with it. Super straight, has given me some great scoring opportunities on long par 4's. Has become a regular go too.
I am relatively new to golf. I want to know how does hybrid helps with issue with slicing or hooking in Rick's case. It's all about face angle and path right? Hybrid only helps if it is shorter right? I can see its advantage in the rough and all, but I can't see why rick's hitting the hybrid straighter
The proximity w the hybrid is far better than the 3 iron. Which from that from is what really matters. This is why I started using 5 woods and 7 woods. I ain’t perfect everytime but I am for sure closer to the green than I am w a 3 and 4 iron. And I don’t always have a perfect lie, so the bigger head just makes it easier
Substitute your set 4 iron with a more forgiving hollow head 4 iron. That way you can have both of these clubs. Might head to find a hollow headed 4 iron that isn't as strong as the P790s though.
I recently did the same bag change with a 5h and 4h using the stealth 2 head. It's easily the best looking at address, and I can do whatever I went with the clubs. I've never been a hybrid guy, but stealth 2 is a cheat code. Qi10 looks weird to me.
Don't get discouraged, buddy. This is what every single golfer goes through. That's why we love you Rick.

Decent bump and run club too
I started carrying a 4, 5, 6 hybrid and my handicap went from 18 to 13. They are just so much easier to hit with from every lie than an iron.

Welcome to the club! Gave up a 3I and 4I years ago and have switched to hybrids. So much easier to hit and I hit them farther and more accurately.
You claim your using a 3 iron but a 4 iron is displayed on this video
Long time You Tube watcher, first time video commenter. Splendid video, well played. LMAO and can certainly relate. Much respect!
Love the club change👏
Also, can you review Bettinardi’s new putters when they come out?
My 3 hybrid is my favorite club by far
KING TEC hybrid😊 adjustable loft sleve and 3 movable weights at the back like driver..
Absolute beast of a club
It's great for nutting one out of the trees and getting it down there.
been playing with a 4 rescue qi10 then 5-AW P770 and its been such a game changer the past 6 months.
I've always been a hybrid guy over a long iron guy. Glad to see you made the change. 💪👌
After his troubles in South Carolina? You mean when he won 45k and won the 2 man major with grant? And was arguably the best player?
I remember Rick hitting Callaway's XR pro hybrid back in the day.
Same. I have driver 5w 7w then 6i to PW.
How it started - that Taylormade hybrid -- how it ended - the Callaway UW.
My hybrid 22° is my favorite club, I use it from the tee for shorter distances, from fairway/rough and also "putting" from off the green, usually much closer than chipping.
I asked myself for a long why you and others don't have one in the bag. 😃
I have both in the bag, a u505 3 iron and and tsr2 3 hybrid lofted down. Use them for different shots
What the fudge is a DHY?
I’m doing the same. Dumped the 3 iron I used to hit and ordered the tour rescue 4 as I’m only looking for a club to go 220-240yards.
My TM mini driver goes 250-265
Then I’m going to get fitted for a driver in February to hopefully cover 270- 300+
Finally getting the top of my bag sorted , I hope.
I picked up a Callaway Apex 2 hybrid in 19 degree. Still learning to hit it well but i love the club.
I’ve been loving hitting my 19 degree hybrid out of fairway bunkers that have a low lip and good lie.
The hybrid approach for your eagle was class
Good stuff, Rick! Hey, no worries on the simulator it only matters out on the course. That hybrid club was gold in a recent match you played.
Putting the qi10 4 hybrid in my bag has been a game changer for me.
I used to love playing long irons (1 & 2!), but now I’m 55, I have 17, 21 & 25 degree hybrids. I’m beginning to prefer the 25 to my 5 iron as just so much more consistent and extremely high flying for soft landing shots of about 190-200.
Its a no brainer to switch out the 3 iron for that hybrid!!!
I tried the QI Hybrids but couldn't find a shaft head combo that felt as good as the cobra for me.
currently playing 3 & 4 hybrids and they are awesome, so easy to hit in alot of situations
Shape of this tour Hybrid is nearly identical to my TSR3 4H. Love the shape. I get Great versatility and performance out of it.
Ping makes the best hybrid. The g430 3 hybrid is my favorite club in the bag.
It's the hardest game in the world for a reason.
😂 Amen
I bet if you took the same number of shots with the 3/4 iron, the same consistency and dispersion wouldn’t be there. For me there’s a night and day difference in the way you hit both, putting the hybrid in the bag is a huge plus (imo). Lovinggg the content recently, especially the real longerrr format stuff, the major was epic!!
I have always played titleist hybrids. This year I ended up with a Taylormade rescue. Only negative it wasn’t adjustable. Besides that, great hybrids
I have problems with hybrids going left. Can you adjust lie angle to make it more fade bias. Also you may want to try a 7 wood
Great perspective on options and keeping an open mind. The hybrid suits you so don’t talk yourself out of it.
Love the videos Rick. I think this channel was a good idea! If gear tinkering is your passion, i can see why you made this channel!
What's the difference between a rescue and a hybrid?
Compliments for the Major! Is it the club you used for the second shot when you got the eagle??
I hated Hybrids too, and have been on Long Irons for ages. Randomly picked up a brand new 18 degree XXIO 3 Hybrid for about $150 NZ on a whim recently and something just clicked with it. Super straight, has given me some great scoring opportunities on long par 4's. Has become a regular go too.
Finally!! I can't believe you and Guy have "never" even had a 5 wood when TIGER switched to one in the mid 00's lulz
Rick with your natural draw shot you need to have a more into out swing sending the ball out to the right a little and bringing it back in .
Taylormade R7 CGB 3-5 hybrids are so good, I swear by them. Super easy to hit, and typically go straight.
Substitute your set 4 iron with a more forgiving hollow head 4 iron. That way you can have both of these clubs. Might head to find a hollow headed 4 iron that isn't as strong as the P790s though.
You are so funny sometimes….”maybe I am not that good”. That was really funny!
I recently did the same bag change with a 5h and 4h using the stealth 2 head. It's easily the best looking at address, and I can do whatever I went with the clubs. I've never been a hybrid guy, but stealth 2 is a cheat code. Qi10 looks weird to me.
6:37, You were saying? 😂😂 Couldn't manufacture this edit better, honestly.
(Paid for by Taylormade)
Try a 7 wood Rick
Your pattern was tighter with the hybrid. But you may want to try a 7 wood too
Have you tried the larger grips last time you did you said you found it hard to hit it left
