I own the Mossberg primarily because I bought it at a $150 discount to the Springfield. I have been very happy with it and I am sure the Springfield is every bit as good. Thanks for the head to head comparison.
Good seeing another review Justin! Informative and entertaining as usual. I own and like my Hellcat Pro but the Mossberg seems like an excellent option as well.
These are the two guns that are top on my list right now. I'm ready to watch this and eager to hear what you have to say. Point of consideration for me also comes down to manufacture. The Mossberg is made in America, the Hellcat in Croatia.
For everyone's information, the Hellcat's 13 round magazine baseplate fits on the 15 mags. If everyone who has a hellcat makes enough noise we might be able to get Springfield to offer them for purchase.
MC2C takes any of Tru-Glo's night sights in the SIG 8 front 8 rear configuration. Sights can be drifted in/out from either side so says Mossberg's CS. Another great feature is that the optic cut is deep enough as to not require a mounting plate nor the need to change out iron sights.
Well done video! I’ve always wanted to try the MC2C but I work so well with my P365XL that I never saw a pressing need. I’m glad to see that it performs so well, love the design and takedown. Frankly, the Hellcat was never a consideration.
You were one of the people who convinced me to check out the Mossberg pistols back with the MC1sc. I own several now and my main 9mm carry pistol is a MC2sc, which FORTUNATLY fits in my Vedder MC1sc holster, since the after-market support for these guns is absolutely terrible. Great guns, though.
Aftermarket support? Heck, I can’t even get factory 14 mags for my MC2sc. As far as holsters I make them, and I have an MC2sc mold. So no worries there. I just want more mags for the thing.
@@victormudrack3406 Yeah I finally found some on gunmagwarehouse. Wildly long wait for mags, but hopefully they can keep them in stock for the near future.
When I bought my Hellcat, there was a promotion of two extra mags and a range bag. Springfield said they ran out of bags, so they replaced it with two more mags. So now I got 5!
I own both and I can honestly say, they are both great. Accurate, reliable and easy to conceal. Springfield has promos to get extra mags buy the Mossberg is very reasonably priced for such a quality pistol. The Hellcat mags are hard to get the last round in but they did include a mag loader which makes it easy.
My mossberg came with a flush magazine that holds 13 and an extended that holds 15. I dont know if you added the plus 1 in the chamber to both of those totals.
Mossberg upgraded from 13/15 to 14/16 when the released the optic ready version. I have the original that came with 13/15 but bought the 14/16s online and use them now. They fit and look the same.
Hellcat Pro wins without hesitation. They eat every type of ammo you feed them. They have the perfect type of grip too and I pick up the sights so easily. Springfield is extremely reliable.
I like your comparison videos. I recently purchased the Hellcat Pro, my 2nd Hellcat. The trigger is much better on the Pro. I'm considering the Holoson 507K-X2 red dot. What model were you running?
I did two modifications on my MC2c. The extractor tension was too firm, so I cut one coil off the extractor spring which solved it. The mag release button was too exposed, so I glued a pad behind the button. Other than that, the capacity for its slim ergos is very good. I also have the Hellcat Pro which didn't require any mods, but the grip is a bit more square.
I own an mc2c as well. I was wondering if you had any problem with it returning to full battery? I read a forum where a guy was having that issue and shaved a bit off the extractor spring and no longer has the issue of it not returning to battery.
@@nathanieldykes1487 Yes, resistance in returning to battery due to too high extractor spring tension. To test extractor tension, field strip pistol and slide 9mm round under extractor. Should have only mild/moderate resistance and just enough tension to hold the full round in place with mild to moderate shaking of the slide. You can test this in a good operating pistol for comparison. The stock extractor tension was way too high on my MC2c, so I clipped one coil off the extractor spring which completely fixed it. Pretty easy to do if you have basic gunsmithing tools like the right size punch for the extractor pin. Or you can take the slide to a gunsmith (they may not know how to field strip it, ha ha ha) or send the gun back to Mossberg. Extractor tension is the key to reliable feeding and extraction on semi-auto pistols, so bad on Mossberg's quality control for not checking each pistol on the production line. Caution: I make it a rule not to load live rounds in a fully assembled pistol at home, so don't use live rounds to test for ammo feeding/cycling at home. Do that by firing the gun at the range. Snap caps are not good for this test because the rims are often undersized. You can also use a spent empty casing to check the tension, but a full round is good for the field stripped slide shake test.
Awesome, sounds like you know your stuff. I have caps, all I need is a smaller punch, Thank you so much for the advice can't wait to see if this fixes my return to battery problem! I appreciate it man
@@nathanieldykes1487 Okay, but please don't test feed live ammo at your home/kitchen table. My extractor tension testing is done with a field stripped slide. If your extractor tension is too firm, resist the temptation to remove too many spring coils. I tried a half coil and ended up clipping one coil total, from what I recall. I forget if I only backed out the retaining pin half way to keep the striker block safety in place. After reinstalling the extractor and its spring, you need to test that the striker block safety still blocks the firing pin on the field stripped slide and that the assembled safety-checked empty gun passes the vertical chopstick test (the unblocked firing pin on trigger pull should launch the chopstick a couple feet up into the air). Pointed safely and eye protection of course.
I might have this problem. Noticed light primer strikes on a couple rounds. Looked off centered. Also had an issue with the trigger not resetting, which I believe was caused by the connector laying too flat. That's resolved. I'll try testing the extractor tension. Great tip!. Not sure if Mossberg changed their qc tolerances since the mc2c was released but they need to make some changes, especially since they only offer a one year warranty.
I don't know if you've had enough of the Hellcat Pro yet, but a comparo video of the Hellcat Pro and the SIG P365 XMacro Tac Ops would be very interesting.
I have been eyeing this Mossberg for a while. The issue is that the optic version is hard to come by at a reasonable price. I do think its under rated. I also find it ironuc that even with the love for the Hellcat which i assume you have more experience with, you seemed to be more accurate with the mossberg. 299.00 for the Tru glow night sights is a great price. Just under 500.00 for the optic ready....not sure if i can do that. My IWI masada came in much cheaper and with 3 different plates
.. thinking about replacing one of my EDCs (LCP Max) with the Canik mc9 or the Mossberg MC2sc. Would like to know anyone's thoughts on whether the mc9 or MC2sc shoots smoother/ with less recoil.
$200+ price difference very much puts into question whether the comparison is plausible. One gun you can find for $300 and the other is likely MAP priced to $529 or higher.
