Great video guys! Also, a year ago Mikey didn’t compress the ball like he is now. The past few months his golf swing is getting so much better and more powerful. Nice work man, keep it going
Mikey, your killing it with your swing man, so much better in the last year. The Srixon clubs are looking great too, I like the smaller face, looks and sounds like a golf club should. Thanks for the great review.
ZX4 seems to be a major improvement this year. I bet Srixon will see a major increase in sales on this model as well is it finally being combo'd in more. Will you be testing the new utility iron?! I replaced my 785 4 iron with the utility 4 iron and man what a difference that made. Went from a rarely used club in the bag to a weapon! Would love to see what the difference is between it and the new model for this year.
Great work guys ! Mind blown either the mention of longer irons adjusted a little up to fix flight and maintain loft . I've never heard that from any fitter yet .
These irons are on my radar. I’m curious if their lofts can be adjusted. A low ball flight has always been an issue for me and the strong lofts give me the willies. Really impressed with Mike’s swing.
This is a great overview, but again, clubs like these really need to be tested with slower club speeds for many of us higher handicappers. I just got fitted for these today and at 10mph slower club head speed, with graphite shafts, I'm getting spin numbers mid 4k's. This really will help my height and ball stopping power.
Any jumpers I've had was always that slightly toe side strike that maintained ball speed because of the head design but dropped spin. That combined with that slightly closed face pull and you get a super long left miss.
it would be great to see how these compare to the previous generation. Ive been wanting to try Srixon since the 585s and it would be great to know if there is significant improvement over the past iterations.
Currently use MP20 HMB but I love the Cleveland zip code CBX wedges which irons would go well with those? Like the V sole any ideas would be great. PS still loving the vids guys & I need to seriously stop showing my friends the one where you gave me tips about over swinging👍👍
Great video! This second edition of ZX4 looks fantastic. Currently gaming 585/785 combo but considering moving to a set of ZX4s. My only concern was the gapping in the short irons and it got even worse after thist test. PW-7i 128-180 yds = 17 yds/club. Too much?
@@antoniom5440 true statement. If was not major degree changes then may be a route. I will admit to not knowing how much that changes. Just don’t usually see that mentioned as an issue. Have a good one.
On the jumpers debate: blades are high spin so when the lie or the strike cause a lower spin they can drop to mid spin. Game improvement irons, for the most part, are mid spin already so they drop to very low spin under the same conditions. Lower spin windows result in less control overall.
But the lower spin we usually see when someone tugs one left (for a righty). On same to same strikes we don’t usually see a spin loss and massive distance jumps. Usually an overcooked draw will do it a bit, but that is strike and shot execution related more than club irregularity. I think that was their point. Or course conditions for the shot - hitting out of rough.
They aren't lower spin and blades aren't higher spin. That's a myth. Only reason zx4 would spin less is because the loft is stronger. If you compare a 34 loft zx4 to a 34 loft blade they'll spin almost identical.
So funny you vented about the "Jumper" conversation, I always felt that what people were referring to unwittingly as a Jumper was when they actually made perfect contact vs. their usual contact. Jumpers for me always seemed to be the truest potential of a club at least under dry or indoor conditions/testing.
Honestly its not just that, but also a failure to properly assess the lie. If you have a ball sitting up in the rough, you're likely to drop spin and fly further, so take a club less. Many people just think 150yrds to the pin......8-iron without taking the lie into consideration..... which is an important part of playing on the course
It’s not just the lie with game improvement irons though. You can have a fairway lie with those and catch one that flys 5-10yds longer(give or take a couple yards). This isn’t with ALL game improvement irons and it’s more true for older models but the spin on game improvement irons fluctuates a lot more from shot to shot than it does with forged players irons. If you took 20 shots with a game improvement iron, the difference in spin from shot to shot is gonna be larger and you would end up getting like 4 or 5 shots that the spin drops off way too much and carries 10yds longer. That’s why they were happy when they didn’t see that spin drop off even more than it did with that PW shot because with some game improvement irons, that same shot would have spun even less and went maybe 7 or 8+ yards longer instead of only 2 or 3.
Have to disagree with you on the jumpers Ian. Maybe it’s not the right word, because it isn’t a jump in ball speed. But when spin is already low with these jacked lofts it doesn’t take much of a drop in spin to carry an extra 10-15 yards when ball speed is maintained. Unexpectedly fly a green by 10 yards = a jumper… a flyer… whatever you call it, there’s rarely much fun beyond a green, so I’d rather miss short. Sure, you can play a higher spin ball to try and protect yourself from a low spin knuckle ball, but then you just lose some of the distance that you’re chasing with the strong lofts anyway.
That’s my point though Cameron. People talk about “hot spots” on these irons. That’s not what it is, it’s fluctuations in launch conditions while maintaining ball speed.
Clubs that rely on a springy face to produce the ball speeds needed in game improvement irons were prone to jumpers. You won't see a jumper in one piece clubs. The problem with GI clubs with springy faces is the tolerance isn't as tight. You may have a set that is totally fine, another person might get a set with one iron that has tendency to produce a jumper. It's also possible that modern GI clubs are alot better now that jumpers are rare to non-existent. Then I'm reminded of one recent indoor testing of the new Callaway Paradym irons where the tester had shots that flew 20yds further than all the rest. Doesn't exactly inspire alot of confidence.
Have to disagree with the jumpers. Ive seen it multiple times myself with many different irons and launch monitors. Just a random huge boost in ball speed. Not tugged left, same swing speed, same balls. 🤷♂️
Ya you're right. It never happens. Please don't start watching this video at the 19 minute mark because it's not real. ua-cam.com/video/hHnZmkvXHqY/v-deo.html Also a guy I played with one day who was using P790's never told me he likes them but that everyone once and awhile he would fly the green by 20 yards. That never happened either. Please continue 👍
people get “jumpers” because they dont understand how lie is going to effect spin on a golf shot. i promise clubs aren’t hitting one ball 125 mph and another 130mph at the same speed and im not even as smart as these guys lol
It’s about the spin consistency with the game improvement irons. In some of those types of irons(especially older models), the spin would fluctuate too much from shot to shot so one shot will spin perfectly and give you the right carry distance but then 2 shots later with the same club, the spin drastically drops and you carry it 10yds longer.

well my JPX921 days are numbered , just have to wait my time for these new Srixons to land in Scotland

Went with the non halo launcher XLs over the original zx4s last year. More consistent distance plus MOI for a much better price point.
Currently gaming some Z585s but very interested in a 4 iron of these, they look amazing in person too.
How do you guys feel the new zx4 would compare to the P790?
Another great video guys! ZX4 MK II vs JPX 923 HM...??? 🙏🏻 test comparison
When you doing a game improvement iron I’d like to see decent angle shown which is important for slower swing speeds
Ooooh. Very tempting to add a 4 in the 4 to a combo of 5s (5,6,7) and 7s (8,9,W). Do they offer a GW/AW in the 7s?
Any date on the zx5 and zx7 mk2 driver review?

Great comments re jumpers. Thank you for spreading fact. Agree, so tired of hearing that fallacy.
I couldn't get on with that kbs. I ended up after 2 fittings with the recoil f3.
Interested in how ZX4 stacks up against the utility. Got the impression the utility wasn't as forgiving last year as some hoped.
Did you ever try both?
Great Job Mikey!
Would love to see a comparison of these to Taylormade P790’s or get Mikey’s thoughts on how they compare. Great content once again, thanks.
How do they compare to the Hot Metal pros? I’m looking for a 4 iron as UDI and 250 yds club

Wanted to see the ZX7 guess we will have to wait a day or two
I think the zx4's are the most improved design this year
Mikey throwin darts out there !

Good point, what's an ideal gapping for his Swing speed?
Would think you could tweak the lofts though to get to a desired gapping in a fitting. Or taking the clubs in to get lofts adjusted after purchase.
@@brentninedorf6617 That is an option for sure but I do not like to tinker much with lofts as it also changes bounce
@@pauld984 T
My swing speed might be 2-3mph higher than Mikey and "my" ideal gap in the scoring clubs is 11-13 yds

Do the shaft lengths increase. Ie is the 5 iron an old school 3 iron length?

Hi ! I can’t see Srixon on TXG store, are you going to sell it? Thanks in advance!
They will for sure
Thanks ! 😁

Could a 7hdc play these? Why wouldn't?
Never used the Srixon Irons. They look like Mizuno Irons a little..

I will also add there is a reason 99% dont play hollow irons. The vertical dispersion is much worse.
