  • The Spanish-UK industry consortium Team Resolute was awarded a £1.6 billion contract for the design, construction, and delivery of the three-ship Fleet Solid Support ship programme. Construction on the new ships is planned to begin in 2025, and all three ships are expected to be operational by 2032.
With a displacement of about 37,000 tonnes, a length and beam of respectively 216 meters and 35.5 meters, the three ships will be second in size only to the carriers amongst ships built in UK shipyards in recent years.

When will the UK MOD publish a detailed List of UK Manufacturers that will supply content for the FLEET SOLID SUPPORT PROGRAMME? UK Manufacturing matters, From steel, propellors, rudders, shafts, and every significant component on each and every ship. Please remember that it is the UK taxpayer that foots the bill, why are any European companies involved in this project?

Who's gonna crew them? Barely get enough crew to stand up to populate the RFA ships as is. Stick Navy personnel on them and you have same low numbers problem and they will lose certain berthing and transit privileges.

We need a new HMS Ocean with assault capacity with a weight of 30,000 tons then convert One QE carriers into angle deck with a nose extention to take carrier length to 1000ft.

Lots of random images of various naval vessels, including RORO vessels, that have nothing to do with the Fleet Solid Support Ship programme

This thing needs a lot more defensive capabilities I know they sail with carrier groups but more firepower never hurt anyone except the enemies.

They were talking about the MARS program to replace the Fort AORs by 2010 way back in 2005 when I was in the navy. They are projected to be in service in 2032. Say this isn't UK military procurement 🤣

Are you sure about the tonnage? As big as that ship is, you'd expect it to be heavier.

The question is will it be able to stay out of the ship yards having constant repair like the Prince of Wales. Every time if left port it broke down. The Queen Elizabeth has done better but it has some issues that made it to the ship yards too. Maybe they will use the same engines as their Type 45 destroyers that overheats and shuts down when they are in warm waters!
