Owen’s overhyped list is 100% spot-on! Overhyped doesn’t mean it’s bad in any way, just not deserving of some religious following as if it’s the only disc to fly like it does.
I’ve been going crazy over here man haha. It’s like people don’t understand the cult like following some of these discs have when there is literally the same thing somewhere else 😂
the "zone clones" I've tried have all been slightly different, but the "buzzz clones" are all the same. I don't think anyone is ripping off anyone else, necessarily. everybody needs a straight flying midrange and a reliably overstable throwing putter. that's just how the game works, it's not something one company invented. if it's the same shaped disc, sure. but harp/pig/stabilizer/a2 are pretty different shapes from the original zone, aren't they?
Yeah man. I don’t know if people are watching it thinking we’re bashing anyone. The way I see it is: you can only get to fly so many different ways in so many different flight patterns. It’s inevitable for discs and molds to overlap. I don’t think anyone is trash for bagging a Destroyer over a DD3 or anything like that. It’s a very surface level take we have fun with and try to make a silly video out of. We think it’s kinda funny when people are actually genuinely getting angry on some of our takes on plastic circles. 😂 You didn’t seem mad or anything, but there are other people that definitely let us know they think we’re dumb. 😂
imma go one step further, every OG mold has nothing special. Destroyer, Buzzz, Zone, Roc, Aviar, Teebird, Wraith, Thunderbird. They’re all overrated because they don’t do anything better than other discs but people assume they’re better because they’re older
It’s not so much that there’s not other disc that do better it’s just because they were the first one 😂although I’ll still Argue that every player would bag a destroyer if they were aloud
I got my instinct from the mysterybox and its the colour changing one (starts out purple, put it in sunlight and it starts to fade to pink) is absolute money ❤
I'll defend the time-lapse a bit for a different point of view. I'm a big fan of the destroyer and in terms of visibility, axiom has been really good for me because of the sharp color difference between the rim and the core which is something that is not replicated by halo style plastics (bleeds into one another instead of being a sharp color transition). So to me the time-lapse is a perfect destroyer just because of the visibility. I agree its overhyped because of Simon but for visibility reasons I do love it.
Yeah, most of these discs that we called overhype aren’t bad discs by any means! And at the end of the day people are going to like what they like anyway.
Haha, while I can't agree with the majority of Owen's picks, I do agree with him on the Firefly. It's a P2, but it glides more and is just a little straighter, which for me, was perfect for getting my putting dialed in.
I would mention that the Crave gets plenty of hype good talk up and very often recommend to almost all players. Guess we just run in different circles. Some of Owen’s picks were indeed questionable. Enjoyed the video.
Sorry. Not sorry. The fact that destroyers all differ is an argument that that disc is for everyone depending on the run and the plastic. I have flippy destroyers. I carry a Mint Goat for a total beef stick.
We’ll if it’s for everyone a beginner couldn’t just go and accidentally pick up a Paul Macbeth destroyer and cry because of how beefy it is 😂 I see what you’re saying though. Destroyers have a wide variation for sure. I do like them for that fact. However, it’s not the king of distance drivers in my mind.
I was at Zboaz yesterday and the front 9 was SO windy. I was missing easy putts because the wind would either slam them to the ground or pick them up over the basket.
I used to throw Innova then I started to have the inconsistencies problem. Slowly other brands cam into the bag. The only discs that were Innova that stayed were a gazelle, mako3, and archon. Started to throw alot of trilogy but they were sometimes expensive. I never touched discraft cause they were way to expensive. But I started to get irritated cause no matter what disc I bought they would all beat in and would need to be replaced after 4 months. I only throw Lonestar now. They're plastic is just superior. However I do miss my gazelle and and sword. But that's really it
I just got done playing Zboaz actually and that wind was kicking brother. Sucks it's about to freeze this weekend but we still need to link up Owen and play a round brother.
@ThrowinWithOwen its wild to hear some of yalls over and under hyped especially the crave because i just bought one and man it is so buttery it's not even funny! Good list though!
Really enjoy the discussion! Everyone has their favorites, but I appreciate you putting your opinions out there. Of course I agree and disagree 😃 Good stuff! Thank you.
I have issues with the Buzzz, got an ESP and an Flx one, they feel "sluggish" in the air, I prefer the Claymore and got a beat in eMac Truth for the stright slot, also trying out an Apollo for even more strigt distance, a bit faster flying. Seems I need to get a Zone zoon ;D I bought into the Glitch and a Beetle when they were released (ofc the Beetle isn't new but had been out of stock for ages!), I love to throw both for fun but the Glitch is in my bag, I use a grip that suits most putters nicely, no griplocks, need to do more formwork to be able to use them for actual holes unless after missing my drive. The Watt is where I put my over-hype, I have an Ohm to pick up instead, to compliment my Glow Envy, the Pilot I have is a bit to flippy and a bit to grippy. My FD in C-line is more stable than my Explorer or Teebird, I don't like it at all, its my least favorite slot, stable 7 speeds, replacing it with my GStar Thunderbird! :P I have a multitude of new discs sitting awaiting no snow and more sunlight, most never flown; PA-5, Glow Berg, MX-1, FX-4, Glow D Model US, D2 Pro, Saint Pro, Lots, Ruby, Ohm, Origin, Cicada, A3, Snoopy, Dynasty, Orbital, a new Ballista in Gold plastic and some more... ^_^
I am expecting it, got a nice deal on them (3 of them for the price of 1, supporting Henric Hagman). The intent is giving 2 of them to friends, one whom is forehand dominant +400' and one that introduced me to the game. :)
By chance are you throwing that color glow C-line FD from last years mystery box? If so, that FD was definitely the most overstable run of FD I’ve thrown personally.
Just a normal Green C-Line FD 176g, been pushing it to some +300' but might be I need to hit a wall hard 10 times and hit it as to go beyond 350' to get it to go straight? :P To be fair its not hooking up and dumping but pushing a hyzer from flat throws, still boooring! ;P Prefer to hyzerflip my Cosmos in armor or up to the GStar Thunderbird and take some off on a very slight anny/flat line. My buddy have been using his for forehands (Green max weight, C-Line) and it took half a year to roll over on his normal release, very torque resistant, I need to try the old ones or new ones... Dark Rebel same mold/Hawkeye 95% same mold :P
Zone OS is insanely overhyped while at the same time a lower profile, even more OS disc, the Tilt of midranges, the Prodiscus Premium Troija is severely underhyped. Like basically every Prodiscus mold is. Seriously tho, the Troija is ridiculously overstable, way more overstable than the Justice/Mutant and feels extremely good on a forehand grip. I like it, I get it if someone doesn't tho.
@@PopsTWODG846 it is crazy overstable. 99% a utility disc / trick shot disc. But since it is way slower than a Tilt, it doesn't skip anywhere near as far so it does actually save strokes from nearly impossible places and can be used for distance control. Just really gotta be thrown almost vertically. But it is a good disc in it's own right.
Okay okay, the zone isn’t overhyped. The rest of those discs are absolutely overhyped. I’ve tried just about every single overstable approach disc out there and the zone is by far the best one. Plastic options, feel, flight, and consistency set it apart. I think there’s a reason why so many open bag pro’s will bag the zone, it’s just better.
Pig is a zone. They are both just overstable approach discs. The point is that where overstable approach discs may have their differences, there is no way the zone is as much better than the rest people treat it like.
Yeah the berg one I'll admit was dumb lol. And yeah I'll call it over rated because there are other versions of it from different manufacturers. It makes it not special anymore if you can pick one up from each manufacturer and they are ABOUT the exact same.@@coreyfrank7572
Big Z Buzzz flies about the same as an M4. Comes down to hand feel. I prefer the M4 as well. But to say an iconic disc, any one of them, is overhyped ain’t right 🤷🏻♂️
The m4 flies like a buzzz for the first two or three rounds and then you get one good tree hit and it’s flippy, buzzzes have a little more reliability in my opinion
@@PopsTWODG846 Pig, P3x, and link are my approaches right now. Usually I have one in the bag though that I’ll throw occasionally but usually reach for a stable putter these days anyway. 🤷🏻♂️

I first started out throwing a dolphin, before graduating to an x clone.
Owen kept mixing up overhyped and under hyped, so maybe that’s why the Berg made his under hyped list.
I’ll get better at this whole talking thing I promise. 😂😝
I hated destroyers and gave all mine away. Then I found a 167g olive green pro plastic mold.
How does that pro plastic destroyer compared to star? Actually super interested. If it’s a tick flippier than I am in.
@@OwenPautlitzif you can’t flip a star one but can get it fairly flat you can throw a pro one on full line worth a try for sure
