Why didn't some of these "journalists" go to City Hall, or the 9/11 Center and demand answers? This is pathetic! I'll bet if one of THEIR homes burned down after THEY got put on hold, they'd be DEMANDING answers.
Same thing happened yesterday in Brookside along Trolley Trail. Multiple people called 911. No one answered. Told would be put in queue. Hung up and called back. Same thing. Bursts of fire from tree landing on electrical line. Every few feet power line broke and bursts of fire. Car exploded in dense Brookside shopping parking lot. Neither police nor fire showed up for at least 30 minutes. Luckily no one was sitting in those parked cars. Police officer said KC police and fire departments at 50% staffing levels for years. With active shooters daily, the area is ripe for the picking. Completely unacceptable.
How unforgivably shameful that Kansas City is wasting money on DEI and stadiums while their 911 system is in shambles. I've called and waited 4 minutes before to report potentially fatal hazards in roadways. On the flipside, if 5 people are waiting on hold, having 5 more people call about the same thing probably isn't going to help unless we start having AI answer the calls and aggregate all the incoming data together.
Sounds like problem with the system they are using. It should be that after 15-30 seconds (depending on your country), the call diverts to the next city's call centre, and if no response it diverts again to the next state or region who will be able to connect to local stations and hook you up. That's how most countries has it set up, there's several layers the call goes to in case one level's local centre got swamped at the moment. Especially in case of major incidents where you can have hundreds of calls coming through at same time about same thing, other centres can help out so no one get drowned out.
When everyone calls at the same time.... In California, we try not to call to report earthquakes, for example. I suggest, if it's an active shooter, shout "gun!" like they did on Hill Street Blues. If fire, I'd say, "Fire!" if dispatch is too busy with parents complaining about their children's behavior, a neighbor's barking dog... you want them to prioritize you (assuming it really is urgent). The other lesson: don't wait. Help your neighbors.
Call 911 about any emergency like this and CALL the closest fire station(s) if you can but make all the calls on your CELL PHONE and don't erace your phone !!!!!
I've used Kansas City 911 before for obviously drunk drivers and waited so long they had time to speed away! Several minutes! Literally. Unusably too long
Hello 911?,,,, You've dialed 911 where is your emergency?,,Yeah at Van Brunt & 12th st in Old Northeast, i' m bleeding,,,hello,,,,hello,hello (W-T-F)??
Moght just might be 200 people calling in 911 at the same time for the same fire. How much stress on the 911 system would be freed if only involved be callin.
Police & fire are a couple of the VERY FEW legitimate uses of government and taxes. Stadiums, ARE NOT. But Quinton Lucas has his priorities upside down as always.
BINGO!!! We need to stop giving the rich more money and use our taxes for their original necessary purpose to provide funding for city services like fire and police.
As an ex fire chief, the very first place the board looked to cut and save money was the fire department. EVERY TIME EVERY YEAR! Guess what, keep cutting just don’t bitch because your house burns down.
I agree that they should never have been put on hold when they called 911 but I call BS about his last statement. It would still be considered a total loss if they had shown up without the delay. The water damage from the amount of water that is used to put out a house fire along with the smoke damage is unimaginable. I lost my house to a fire 2 months ago. I called immediately and they showed up within a couple mins. They were able to put the fire out and save half of the house. However, the other half that did not burn, was completely ruined. Leaving behind a very toxic environment that I spent weeks sorting thru it all looking for sentimental items.
I had our local 911 operator hang up on me three times, it wasn't until the fourth time when I called back after the assault did she finally listen to me and send the deputies out..... A deputy who would later come to my house and gaslight me in front of my face as I'm telling him about being harassed by yet another neighbor for being gay, the deputy gaslights me about who I'm talking about… Whom was standing right in front of me. And when that deputy was losing his conversation with me, another one comes in to tell me that I'm the problem..... And then turns around and walks away. Oh and the neighbor that the cop was trying to gaslight me about, is the same one that I video recorded threatening to shoot me with a gun and nobody wants to do anything. He even went as far as saying he killed his own child on video - pause looked right directly in my camera and said if his kid was gay he would, and then his wife right behind him nods yes. The judge in the area is said I would never be treated fairly, our local school system has instructed new neighbors not to talk to me, and the city Council member who has slander the situation in multiple ways. In this action is what's happened since Trump was president, after 25 years of living in my house this is the kind of stuff is happening to me now. HATE has a license now....BECAUSE OF TRUMP.
The call centre either not have enough staff on duty or the call system hasn't managed properly to divert unattended call to next centre. What's the connection with that and police?
What could possibly be more important than a house on fire?
It's crazy I run a laundromat on Independence avenue no police presences and I can't call for help when I need it.
Call the fire department that's what we did before they had 911
Why didn't some of these "journalists" go to City Hall, or the 9/11 Center and demand answers? This is pathetic! I'll bet if one of THEIR homes burned down after THEY got put on hold, they'd be DEMANDING answers.
yea they need to confront them about this.. this is definitely an urgent issue and we need answers!!!
KC sucks.
when you live in a city thats run by liberal democrats.....
And just how do you know They didn't Unbelievable
They would simply be told that it’s “Under investigation” and they would leave it at that.

Last 3-times calling cops in KCMO? well they told us to run from mexican trespassers, to busy for stolen truck & walk in wreck report
Clear case of city officials stealing fire truck fuel for their yachts. LOL

That part!💯

Call 911 about any emergency like this and CALL the closest fire station(s) if you can but make all the calls on your

Hopefully the homeowners sue kc over this and move out
Guess 911 dispatcher was eating lunch and didn’t want to be disturbed.
I've used Kansas City 911 before for obviously drunk drivers and waited so long they had time to speed away! Several minutes! Literally. Unusably too long
Defunding the police wasn't such a bright idea was it?
What about using a system to sort out repeative calls about the same emegency?
So who was the 911 operator talking to that was more important?
Kansas City 911 sucks! I'm retired Firefighter from the north east.
It really is! Been a few times I’ve been put on hold for several mins
Hello 911?,,,, You've dialed 911 where is your emergency?,,Yeah at Van Brunt & 12th st in Old Northeast, i'

Staffing issues?
Does the 911 system hire via DEI, or by merit?
Perhaps a politician wants that land cheap.
Or is on the take by someone else who wants the property like a real estate developer.
In Atlanta Georgia's Dekalb County, it takes 911 over ten minutes before they even answer their calls.
Moght just might be 200 people calling in 911 at the same time for the same fire. How much stress on the 911 system would be freed if only involved be callin.
😮 WHO IS running the KC 911 System DEI?
Quinton Lucas😂
They move quick here in Overland Park
Maybe Jackson county should use the Truman sports complex 3/8th cent sales tax money and hire more police/fire/dispatchers……
Police & fire are a couple of the VERY FEW legitimate uses of government and taxes. Stadiums, ARE NOT. But Quinton Lucas has his priorities upside down as always.

Overly dramatic pauses by reporter. And instead of letting the person telling the story, narrates it himself.
Also...its ess-KAYP, not ex-SKAYP.
A reporter saying excape instead of escape ,sad
They were probably watching TikTok videos .
This is happening in every state due to no officers or 911 operators.
So you have a reporter that sounds like he's officiating a football game, but can't pronounce escape correctly...
Excape isn't even a word my man..
Agreed.

Defund the police?
That's what happens!!!!
They more worried bout tags here
I think someone defunded the fire department along with defunding the police.
The call centre either not have enough staff on duty or the call system hasn't managed properly to divert unattended call to next centre. What's the connection with that and police?
How is a 911 operator linked with defund the police? Shut up.
