This video provides very good and useful information to import Mini DV Tapes for persons with an apple computer that only has thunderbolt ports. However, it would have been nice if, they had just left one Fire-wire 800 port and one standard USB port on the newer apple computers. What happen to the fun with apple computers? During the 2000's using iLife and iWorks, it was all about ease of use.
Since, I am old school my newest desktop is a 2010 Mac Mini with a built-in DVD drive, one Fire-wire 800 port, four USB 2.0 ports, and a Mini Display port. Therefore, importing is a snap just one cable from video recorder to my computer.

Yes, but you'd need to use a DV camcorder or converter to first convert the analog video to digital. Here's a short article on this subject: lifeflix.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203125839-Does-LifeFlix-support-VHS-import-

To do this on a new Mac with usb-c you would need to buy two cable connecters which are the firewire- thunderbolt and then thunderbolt to USB-C which I will link below. Thats all you need!

Hi if you are using the appropriate cables and adaptors (Firewire cable and Thunderbolt adaptors and not a USB cable because a USB cable/port will not work to connect the camcorder), your camcorder should be recognized by the software. You can give the following steps a try:

Confirm you are using Mac OSX 10.7 or later.
Keep your camcorder powered on and in VCR mode (sometimes called VTR or Play mode)
Unplug the FireWire cable and any adaptor you're using from both the camera and the computer
      Quit LifeFlix
Plug the FireWire cable and any adaptor you're using back into both the camera and the computer
      Re-launch LifeFlix
      Click ""Import""
Hope this works, if it does not work either, please contact our support and we will guide you.

Hi! Yes, we are aware, thank you! My brother and I developed LifeFlix after initially using iMovie for our own MiniDV tapes. We wanted a dedicated capture app and we also noticed that iMovie started losing some support for capturing MiniDV tapes (audio capture with Canon camcorders is particularly problematic for some reason). Bottom line, if iMovie works for you then that's your solution. If not, we hope people will give LifeFlix a try. There's a free trial and even after purchasing, if you're not 100% guaranteed we'll refund your money.

Mac or to your hard drive. It's a Sony HVR- M15 au. All it does is play

    • @lifeflix.videos
      @lifeflix.videos  4 місяці тому

LifeFlix will detect segments in your tape depending on how your footage was recorded or how it may read breaks. At times these breaks may cause the footage to be dropped, causing the capture to end.

      Please try the following.

Manually fast forward then rewind your tape.
Use a head cleaner on your device.
Once you reach the drop point during capture. fast forward past that part from your device.
