I have plugged in my Panasonic minidv camera via dv to firewire 400 then to firewire 800 then to thunderbolt then to USB-C and Lifeflix is not bringing up any video on my 2023 Mac. Any ideas of what I can do?

Hello, I have just updated my LifeFlix to 4.2.5 and now every time I open the app on my MacBook Pro (macOS Ventura 13.5.2) the LifeFlix crashes and presents me with the following termination reason: Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 6 Abort trap: 6 Terminating Process: LifeFlix [22322] I have used LifeFlix about 8 months ago and it worked fine, connected to my camcorder and was able to record and export videos. Please could you advise on the best next steps to take so I can resovle this issue?

Perfect App for importing from old Mini DV, It Includes the last version 4.2.5, and also the old 3.6 and runs better on some old Camcorders with deteriorated MiniDV tapes.

Can OBS Studio be used as the software?

Please link what cable the firewire is, the 9pin to 4 pin i bought does not fit the camera which is the same as yours.

I can personally vouch for this really neat software/app. Used to capture TONS of VHS tapes as old as 40 years old. It is simple and straight-forwatd. Had the old version and will certainly get this new version.

Why can’t one tape be one clip? Why is it splitting my tapes into a million files per tape? So unnecessary. Now I have to twiddle my thumbs while I later combine the clips?! Lame

How do I capture an entire tape without having a million small clips. One tape, one clip?

So I have a new Mac, I didn't migrate from the old one, I wanted to start fresh. I have installed Lifeflix again on the new Mac, and copied the Lifeflix folder/Tapes over to this machine. When I tell Lifelix where the files are now stored, it doesn't update/import them. How do I get all of the tapes back into the new install without needing to import each individually/manually?

Even more useful now Premiere Pro doesn't accept 32 bit .DV format - also the latest Premiere Pro version doesn't seem to work any more with my Sony P170 camera - yours does and is easy. I am wondering what the difference is between the trial and upgrade but I will buy. Thanks!

Hello Drew. I have a couple of problems. I just bought lifeflix and tried importing one of my 20-year-old miniDV tapes. Unfortunately, Lifeflix stops recording after 1-3 seconds. I press "resume" and it stops again. Obviously, this approach of resume-stop-resume is not going to work unless I am going to sit next to mac (running Monterey) in real time. I believe the timecode on the tape may be corrupted. I believe some apps have a way to "ignore scene change" or "import whole tape" selectors. Does Lifeflix have that, or is there a way round this? Secondly, the help links in the app link-out to cloudfare which is blocked as unsafe by Chrome. How else can I reach support?

I have files on my external hard drive, originally saved using Windows on the external drive, i can see the files in MAC but when i try to import the media files i cannot select them in life flix, any suggesstions

Just bought lifeflix because it was looking like it worked with the free version, but now the import is choppy and sometime it just stops during import. I have all the right connectors and the video is playing on the recorder just not being imported smoothly. It is sometimes breaking it up into 1 sec segments even though the segment is much longer.

Software is too expensive plus there is no microMV import, which is something lacking in modern software.

Hi Drew, I just got Life flix for converting my MiniDV tapes and wondering why it’s not converting the audio. I see the video just fine, but can’t hear any sound. I have done all the troubleshooting and my MacBook Pro plays all audio files just fine. Any ideas?

I bought Life Flix the other day and it works, but when importing the video, I get a “no Audio plays during the import”. Well after trying to play on QuickTime video plays, but i don’t get any sound. I have done all the troubleshooting with my MacBook Pro and I can hear audio just fine with other files. Please advise.

I used my Canon MVX430 digital camcorder. Lifeflix was great - easy to use however, there is no audio on the files imported to my iMac. Any solutions?

I have 3 huge tubs of videos both 8mm (hi8) and DV. 4 Videos in and this is excellent. I have a macbook pro and capture to an external raid drive. WOW! Being a past video pro this is so easy to use and works so well on my macbook pro. It's almost winter time in Kansas and I will now have a winter project to capture all of these videos so I can start sharing with my family. Great product and I recommend this as an amazing solution. One issue I had when capturing 8mm was audio but I started the video first then hit import. Works like a charm. Thanks to this team for this amazing product.

Glad to inform you there is a better way to transfer your tapes to your Mac or to your hard drive. It's a Sony HVR- M15 au. All it does is play or record to your DV tapes. Very best way to play or record to Dv, HDV or DVCAM.

Why iMovie does not see my Samsung VP-D453i?

What other program can import DV? In my Mac Bock Pro LifeFlix it is blocked, does not open.

So, I have been searching around for a program to assist me to transfer footage from many Mini DV's as per your video... and from a few reviews and your boast's I decided to go with yours (US$79.00; AU$132.00) I had big hopes... that were quickly dashed when you program couldn't even recognise my connected camcorder! At the start of this video you make the point, 'Will Lifeflix work with my camera... we've been testing for about 3 years', specifically Panasonic (0:26)... mine was a popular model (Panasonic NV-DS 15) so you would think that there would be no problem! Due to it not being recognised, I went to your trouble shooting page in the hope to quickly resolve the situation; however when I say the extent of the things to work through for the very problem of a simple connection to a device… I quickly realised that your boasts of achieving compatibility with the major camcorder brands and models was/is misleading. Specifics of troubleshooting: TRY THESE FIRST: Confirm you are using Mac OSX 10.7 or later (Mac OSX 10.15.4) Keep your camcorder powered on and in VCR mode. (Done) Unplug the FireWire cable and any adaptor you're using from both the camera and the computer. (Done) Quit LifeFlix. (Done) Plug the FireWire cable and any adaptor you're using back into both the camera and the computer. (Done) Re-launch LifeFlix. (Done) Click "Import."
