There was definitely a TON of useful information in this video, and of course I once again learned SOOO much about Europe and all of its intricacies! Recently it seems like the world has been in a bit of a political/economic crisis and Europe has been hit a lot harder than I would have ever imagined 😭. How have you seen your local area evolve over the span of these recent events? Like for instance, POLAND’s new law on immigration…. DIABOLICAL 🥲. On a lighter note, I definitely can’t wait to explore more of Europe in the future! Which countries should I visit next?

      Currency conversion:
Countries that are candidates for the introduction of the euro usually have an already set exchange rate framework.
The exchange rate (in Germany 1€=1.95883 DM) was set back in 1999, i.e. before the original introduction of the euro (2002).
There are usually no problems with the conversion, especially in border regions (Denmark, Poland, Switzerland, etc.), as you can often pay in both currencies. However, you will receive the change in the respective national currency.

Don`t forget to say Switzerland is a tax haven for tax evaders, not only normal people, but also for Oloigarch`s, Dictator`s and Autocrat`s from all over the world.

    • @lucaszech1328
      @lucaszech1328 6 днів тому

Switzerland functions as a global tax haven through a combination of legal, political, and financial mechanisms designed to attract wealth while shielding it from taxation and scrutiny. Here's an overview for someone unfamiliar with European dynamics:
      1. Banking Secrecy
Switzerland's legendary banking secrecy laws, in place for decades, allowed wealthy individuals and corporations to hide assets from foreign tax authorities. Although global pressure led to some reforms after 2017, loopholes and sophisticated structures such as trusts and shell companies ensure that Switzerland remains a hub for tax avoidance.
      2. Low Tax Rates
Switzerland's federal structure allows its 26 cantons (regions) to set their own tax rates. Many offer extremely low taxes to corporations and wealthy individuals, creating intense competition to attract money. This "tax competition" leads to what some call a "race to the bottom," where taxes are systematically reduced to appeal to foreign investment.
Corporate Tax Benefits: Multinational companies often use Switzerland to book profits, taking advantage of preferential tax rates that lower their global tax bills significantly.
      3. Double Taxation Agreements
Switzerland has signed numerous bilateral agreements with other countries to avoid taxing the same income twice. However, corporations exploit these treaties to engage in "profit shifting," moving profits to Switzerland while costs are assigned to higher-tax jurisdictions.
      4. Anonymity and Complex Structures
Trusts and Foundations: Swiss laws allow for the creation of opaque legal entities, such as trusts and foundations, that hide the identities of actual beneficiaries.
Lack of Transparency: Switzerland is slower than other jurisdictions in implementing measures requiring disclosure of beneficial ownership, making it difficult to trace who truly owns assets.
      5. Links to Neoliberal Networks
Switzerland is closely tied to organizations like the Mont Pelerin Society and the Atlas Network, which promote policies favoring tax cuts, deregulation, and minimal government intervention. These global networks reinforce Switzerland's role as a tax haven by lobbying against stricter international tax regulations.
      6. Political Stability and Neutrality
Switzerland's political neutrality and stable legal system make it an attractive destination for the world's wealthy to store their money, protecting it from political or economic instability in other countries.
      The Consequences
      1. Lost Revenue: Governments around the world lose billions in tax revenue annually as companies and the wealthy shift profits and assets to Switzerland.
      2. Inequality: Tax avoidance by the ultra-rich exacerbates global inequality, as ordinary citizens bear a heavier tax burden.
      3. Harm to Public Services: With reduced tax revenues, many countries struggle to fund healthcare, education, and infrastructure, undermining social welfare.
      Scandals and Examples
Switzerland’s role in tax evasion and avoidance has been exposed in scandals like the SwissLeaks and the Panama Papers, where it was revealed that Swiss banks and financial institutions actively helped clients evade taxes.

He doesn't know that Ukraine is not in the Balkans and that Russia's western border ends in the east of Ukraine and that the south of Russia includes Georgia as one of the countries or 2. He knows something we don't? Will Ukraine get conquered by Russia and we, Romania, as part of the Balkans with border them? God forbid, we're in NATO, let's hope this won't happen or the Russians will open "Pandora's box" and the 3rd world war might begin. I know Americans might not give a damn about us, the small countries over here and even though their media made it look fantastic and awesome with attention grabbing titles on the news, they promised to give weapons to Ukraine yet they delayed them by months. I know they don't care if Romania and Moldova (and especially the Transnistrian border where Russian citizens live and where Russian troops are put into place for tens of years) will border Russia and the Ukraine that let's assume it might be destroyed. It's an ocean that separates us yet they promise to help us. Better not promise, everyone must defend itself and its own country, they shouldn't act as the ones that protect us from the "bullies" (Russians) like they'd be our bigger brother. They should calm down and fix their issues in their own country not act as everybody's bodyguard and "friend" when all they care about is making money from other countries while reaping the rewards. Yes, Russia is bad too, they get into trouble too but America is the same if not worse. They better start opening their eyes and leave the other countries alone. Why spend so much money on military? Isn't this paranoia? Just saying.

Statista, who publish the official German statistics, have a list of beer consumption per captita. Latest data are from 2022:
    Czechia: 136 liters
    Austria: 102 liters
    Poland: 93 liters
    Germany: 92 liters
    (some others)
    Ireland 71, Netherlands 70, UK 68.
So the Czech easily outdrink all of Europe.

The weather (even in the mountains, well, I don't mean at the highest points but still) is better than in the northern countries or like in central europe and especially than in Eastern Europe. Then you have high speed trains and France and Italy and Germany bordering it. Another bonus points. I guess he meant "poor" in terms of military. But guess what? They have this too but they're bases are hidden in the mountains and they have fighter jets there. They're neutral though but even so they're there for the worst case scenario. Then another advantage for them is they have loads of money, I mean the money from the millionaires and billionaires too, oligarchs and oil barons, from mafia to all kinds of people, from rich people with very high salaries up to the billionaires.

Let’s be real for a Sec. At the moment, Western Europe faces a bigger crisis compared to Eastern Europe. In many aspects things are going downhill. Take safety, for example. You. feel more at safe walking through cities in Eastern European or Balkan countries at night than in cities like Paris, Rome, London, Berlin, or Barcelona.
In Western Europe, there is a noticeable rise in crime, homelessness, drug abuse, and prostitution, along with a larger influx of immigrants. Over the past three to four years, these issues have been more visible in Western Europe than in Eastern Europe. Economically, Western Europe, including Germany, can feel like a dead trap unless you're earning well above (Almost double) the average salary. Buying an apartment, let alone a house, is basically Impossible.
Labeling these countries as "stable" or their Big cities as "safe" seems out of touch with reality. Those who live in Europe and have traveled tru Europe will understand what I mean :D

A small side note from me: I come from Georgia, in the Caucasus. Please never make the mistake of calling Georgians Slavs or any other Caucasian ethnic group in general. We have nothing to do with the Slavs. Neither culturally nor linguistically. Even Ukraine and Belarus are completely diverse in terms of ethnicity. There are Ruthenians, Crimean Tatars and Sermatians there. That's why there is no understanding of "Slavs" there. They don't even call themselves Slavs. Unfortunately, that's the "Western lens" or simplification of the "East". The USSR always propagated things like that on purpose back then, to portray us that way to the West. But that's absolute nonsense. People only really associate Slavs with Russia.

Of course it is more difficult to get high inflation but there are also Germans who want the mark again... and your pizza opinion is bullshit no front... Germany also sees itself more as a Central European country... (in the First World War we were also part of the central powers)... And in Europe there aren't really any countries that are bad. Eastern Europe basically shares a common bad experiences with the Soviet Union. That's the only thing they all share. Finland would be debatable in that aspect but not in the same way. (-> Finlandisation)
The EU is as much Europe as the US is (North) America.
The French still partly control half of Africa and their foreign legion is somewhat famous.
You can go to Poland but you should make yourself known as an American tourist. They like Americans but they might not identify you as such just by the looks. ^^
It certainly didn't help that a polish children's book was about a boy of african origin who you have fun and later in the day wouldn't go bathe fearing he would go white... ... yeah.. other times. While it may be cute and friendly, it can still be seen as some kind of norm or top down look like: "look he is so stupid fearing that" though children all over the word believe different crap they have come across. Santa Claus is hardly any better. It ends on friendly terms.
There was a time in Poland, where people were travelling a lot and you can find Poles basically everywhere. The most famous historical achievement was saving the Vienna from the Turks. So this doesn't help much either. Being strongly catholic also doesn't help being open or progressive. Things did change economically, so Poland is no longer the country famous for car thieves, alcohol and the Pope and being repeatedly annexed by its neighbouring countries... and Auschwitz...
Well it kinda is.. and you should visit to see for yourself.
The border thing... well.. if your neighbour is weaponising refugees and migrants to make you look bad.. Though they could have handled it more gracefully and humanely.
Poland took in millions of refugees from Ukraine long before 2022 and even after. And it wasn't really accounted for by the other countries when it came to distribute refugees from Syria.. So they were a little angry. It's a long shot to Germany in many aspects like infrastructure, health services but in some ways ahead. You should generally check out Europe more. There is definitely a lot of history to discover.
I did hear, that Swedish are very friendly but some say superficially so. Maybe that's where the discrepancy comes from.
You will find that most of Europe has some sort of reason to be a certain way. And some are losing some of their past trauma and moving on. Hence noone wants to be associated/reduced to being a vassal of the SU.
Oh and that small white country in the centre of Europe is Switzerland. They are doing just fine I would say. Same as Norway, now the UK, Iceland... They all have their own reasons. Mostly sovereignty over fishing rights, banking regulations, natural resources,.... The Swiss Franc is i think now fixed to the Euro. But people earn way more there and things are expensive...! But nonetheless a beautiful country.
Sorry to hear you have been scammed in Italy expecting a pizza. It's usually very good! Also ice cream (gelato)! The quality and taste is famous.
About tipping: in Germany it would definitely depend on the establishment. If you eat a Döner and you tip 500€ they will probably think you are giving out counterfeit money. If you did after 5h at the Oktober Fest trinking gallons of beer and having a nice time and are already at some hundred € on the bill, they will probably try to refuse it but with a little persuasion accept it.

18:36: This little country you mentioned is Switzerland. They always stayed neutral. The are not in the EU and the don‘t pay with Euro. The have 3 (!!!) different languages spoken in this country (Switzerland-Germany, French and Italian). They are also very konservativ but the are also very rich because of there banks.

Um actually, the smallest country in Europe is the BIS, which is litterally one building and no park.
BIS is the Bank of International Settlements.
