in my small town in the country side in denmark, the supermarkets have open on sundays, but all the special shops are closes on sundays, to save manpower. labour shortage is a huge problem in denmark.
Southern Sweden has a massive immigrant problem and an extremely high crime rate. However, once you leave the big cities in the south behind and get further north, Sweden is actually one of the safest countries. The most dangerous thing that can happen to you in the north is an accident with a moose or that you wear the wrong clothes at -30° C (but you only make this mistake once). 😂 Btw; Finland is not a Scandinavian country and does not have a Viking past.
Those gangs fighting with each other over the control of the drug market use to kill each other, and rarely are a danger to "normal" people. Except when they mistakingly kill an absolutely innocent bypasser when they are firing at another, rivalling gangster with a machine gun. If I am not mistaken, a dozen innocent people have been accidently killed the last 20 years (please correct me if my memory is wrong). According to my knowledge, there is not one single street in Sweden that people deliberately avoid because of the risk of beeing robbed by some thugs.
denmark does not have the euro, but have a fixed currency policy. normally the national bank's interest rate is governed to stabilize the economy and the housing cost, but in denmark it is governed to keep the same exchange rate. some economists see this as a strong disadvantage for the economy, but seeing the strong loss of strength of both the swedish and norwegian currencies compared to the euro and the us dollar, I am so glad for for fixed currency policy. it makes life a lot easier for us danes. and I don't have a mortgage, so I couldn't care less about the interes rate.
Here in Germany Businesses are closed on sundays, its a day for family and friends or do your hobby. Gas stations are open and also all Cafés and Restaurants. Even shops in train stations are open.
I have my own recipie for pasta and meat sauce, that I call pasta danese. It have only the pasta penne and the canned tomatoes in common with pasta bolognaise, but is otherwise at completely danish recipie, that I based on the food I learned to make in household lessons in my secondary school years.
in denmark, we do not have minimum wages, we have tariff wages, that are quite high, making the danish service industry a favorite among europeean expats without a qualifiying education. it can be as high as 25 euro an hour, depending on the circumstances.
6:55 that is debatable. Europe, the continent, ends at the Ural. Land-area-wise it's bigger than the U.S., but it is much smaller than the North American continent. If you want to exclude Russia from this picture, which is desirable nowadays, because they are the Orc nation, Europe still has much more people than the U.S.
Europe is actually slightly bigger than the US (one could also say basically same size). And its wrong to believe that people in medieval time just threw trash/shit/emptied chamber pots out of the window. That happened but was not the norm (and also forbidden usually)
in denmark, mcdonald's get their meat from danish producers to danish standard and regulations, and their buns from the largest manufacturer of buns and bred rolls on the danish market, again to danish standards and regulations, meaning that their burgers are better than in the usa. but burger king still makes much better burgers etc than mcdonald's here. but I do recommend that you go to an independend danish burger joint for burgers. the patties aren't quarter pounders (117 grams) but 150 grams and upwards. and made from lean beef, (10% fat at max) rather than fat beef (14% fat and upwards).
germany is divided in middle. in the north, people eat rye bread and liquorice, and goes on vacation in countries north of them, or the canary islands, and they are protestants. south of the line, they eat white bread, and don't like liquorice, and the go on vacation in countries south of them. most germans never cross that line, even on vacations, preferring to stay among their own peoples..
Erica mentioned why the orange part of Southern Europe is coloured that way. Because it is considered Eastern Europe, but they prefer to be Southern Europe, or Balkans (Mountains Chain of that region). Originally East Europe ment that it was under Soviet occupation, and no one want to associate with Soviets or Russians (surely there are some).
The United States is NOT larger than continental Europe. The United States and Europe are similar in size, both covering nearly 10 million square kilometers (3.8 million square miles). However, Europe is 104,480 square kilometers (40,340 square miles) larger than the United States. The United States is a singular country consisting of 50 states. As of 2024, the United States has an estimated population of nearly 342 million people. There are 50 countries in Europe with a combined population of nearly 745 million, making it over double the population of the United States. By land area though, the United States is larger than the European Union. The United States is approximately 3.8 million square miles, the European Union has an area of around 1.7 million square miles. The European Union has a larger population than the United States even though the US is at least twice as large. On 1 January 2024 the population of the European Union is 450 million while the United States has a population of 342 million people. In other words, the population of the European Union is around 1.3 as big as that of the United States.
so if the businesses are open on Sunday, how the peoples working there can spend time with their family ? That means lot of peoples don't care about the other's family.
Interesting, but not so different from North America in a sense--even in USA, Texas is very dirrent from Maine, and even here in Canada, west and east have different values or even language (more french speakers in the east). Have a nice day, Ruky, I'll search here to see what else you have on your channel.
Europe is in fact slightly larger than the USA. Sweden's crime problems are exagerated, crime has gone up particularly shootings, but it's still safer than most cities in US. There are several reasons why crime has gone up, like not enough resources to and/or badly organized Police, lots of refugees put together in more or less "bad" areas, and aren't educated as good as could be so some struggle to get a job etc
small scale racism is everywere in denmark. the original danes are fullblooded blonde blueeyed aryans, and can be racists to even slavs, even though they too can be blonde and blue eyed. but people living in appartment complexes (general housing estates) are more used to diversity than those living in single family house neighborhoods. so moving here, choose general housing estates (almennyttige boligselskaber), and not single family house neighborhoods. general housing also releaves you from having a mortgage hanging ove your head.
The Potato Tomato thing depends on climate i think. Totatos better grow in the south while Potatos more like the climate in the north. That might also have influence to the food. So don t take it too serios.
It's honestly pretty funny to divide Europe based on potato/tomato since they aren't even native to it and only appeared here some five centuries ago XD But now no one would be able to imagine Poland or Ireland without tomatoes or Italy without tomatoes.
9:16 - She's wrong and spread fake news because she doesn't understand it. It's the other way around. The EU uses the Council of Europe flag (or the European flag) and the sole Council of Europe owns this flag and allowes the EU to use it. The CoE is 46 member states, the EU only 27.

Orange part was Balkans.
Hi from Latvia 🇱🇻
I saw a diagram over europes political division. it is quite complicated.... the EU is only one of our entities.
Every large group, doesn't matter if it's foreigners or dentists or basketball players, their are people who ruin it for the rest of us.
Sweden is very safe in generell. For living and also for tourists. In some bigger citys they had some gang related crimes recently.
