Thanks Greg, you're the only food reviewer in Singapore who really does research and dives into details.
old airport road so goooood, cutting carbs is never a bad idea, cant wait for part 2
Thanks for your post.
Its like greeting an old no nonsense friend.
Glad to see you coming back
Very very comprehensive and informative. Excellent recommendations. Great work, Greg!
Thank you for the hardwork Greg
Looking forward to trying your recommendations
Very good food recommendation , clear photos and essential details. This is my go-to for food channels and trips. Thank you Gregory
I've been looking forward to this one. I ran into you in March as you were doing research at OAR.
Fantastic vlog, so enjoyable to watch ‼️💖
Thanx for the recommendation! I tried the beef brisket pho with top up of tendons, 1 bowl of bone marrow. The soup is superb and beef brisket nicely done but the tendon 2as the highlight of the day. Live prawns were sweet and firm, the soup is clear and light
❤ Coincidentally I 😋😍love the food at these 2 stalls just like you. And also I totally agree with you although among the 2 stalls, I choose beef 🥩over prawns🦐
😝 @wayneyeo
i love this episode!!
awesome video, thanks for doing this.
Thanks for the info…will go and try the oyster egg….🙌
The GOAT
Thank You, learnt a lot on how to maneuver ordering food to keep it keto/low carb.
wow thanks for the low carb options
You are the BEST Greg
Good man!
Very useful content
gonna try the bone marrow, looks really good.
Xin Kee Chicken Rice ftw! been patronising them for years..standard always there.
Thanks for your video on Old Airport Rd HC..I will find time to go there before they closed for 4 month renovation.
my favourite youtuber
absolutely goated
ive been seeing u arnd the beauty world area and I must say there must be something right with your workout or diet, looking lean! great video btw will check out some of those stalls when im there
Dory fish is basically cultured cat fish with low protein content.
Tried Kallang Cantonese Live Prawn Noodle and Hua Ji XO Fish Head Bee Hoon. Love them.
As for Holy Grill, tried the Grill chicken and tot that will be the last time. Perhaps I'll try the fish and beef steak?
Thanks
thanks for the tip!
So tanned bro!
It was much easier to decide on the food intake formerly.Your mood is basically the deciding factor. Now it is becoming more sophisticated and much work have to be done before deciding whether that food meet your statistics. It require a lot of intelligent for each meal and even overall meals for the day. This is advance thinking on a simple meal.
can u do a 45 mins coverage for northies please??
In the works but don’t expect it soon. Got to clear the popular FCs first!
Hi Greg, you look so much fitter! Old Airport road is such a nostalgic hawker center. Heard they will be closing for renovations?
Yes from june 1st to sept 30th. Better go before they close!
Thank you , more good value low carb videos please 🙏
I really enjoy your videos. Very unique, one of a kind that introduce low carb/keto friendly meals in a hawker environment. I have always been wary of YTF though. Are not those meat stuffed also mixed with white flour? And also for fish cake and fish balls? I am not sure but always avoid them since they look so white…
Yes, most fish or meat pastes will have some binding starches/flours in them but the goal is not to have zero carbs but to limit carbs to about 20g -50g a day.
After all, vegetables also has carbs in them too. Only meat and fat do not.
So with ytf, you can taste whether they use a lot of starch. For these stalls, I’ve made sure that it’s fairly low.
That’s why I label these stalls “lower carb” and “keto (depending on your macros)”
So to explain, it depends on what else are you eating for the rest of the day and your carb tolerance.
If your other meal is a steak, salt and water, then a bowl of ytf should be fine.
If you’re doing one meal a day, then ytf is probably okay.
On the flip side, if you’re eating three meals a day and severely diabetic, then I wouldn’t recommend ytf at all.
I would suggest cutting a meal or two, incorporating exercise, and eating more protein and animal fat.
Ytf can eat a few months later when you’ve healed
So whether you can eat ytf or anything in the lower carb category is very situational
@@GregoryLeow Thank you so much for taking time to typed out such a detailed reply! I am not diabetic but have grown interested to take more protein and be more conscious of hidden sugars in food. Looking forward to your northies post. Also, it would be helpful to share more restaurants in shopping centres that also has low carb options. Like the tongue tip beef noodles place you shared. Thanks!!
Just a suggestion. If you really want to provide good info , you should wear CGM (continuous glucose monitor) to gauge whether the food is really keto or just keto or low carb on paper. Many stuff added into our hawker food doesn’t qualify into keto or even low carb at all.
Yes I should do so, but my diabetes has reversed so I haven’t done so. So far, I’ve just been asking hawkers if they add any sugars or binding starches
Really wished that you started this sooner, now I won’t be back for awhile☹️
The flesh prawns stall I try last month, but the prawns were very soft and it look like not flesh at all , I hope that is much only incident 😢
😎
Great effort.. keto aint easy in SG…but veg seed oil is certainly dirty inflammatory keto and tofu isoflavones raise estrogenic gynecomastia prospects…
Not batang fish. Its toman or snakehead fish.
ah yes, you're correct. thanks for the clarification!
29:00 shouldn't shouldn't it be Pork tripe instead of pork triple? Someone should tell the store owner to change their signboards.
It's hard for me to picture someone tuning in just to watch people eating here. I could understand someone popping in to find a recipe to cook, but watching a UA-camr rake in cash just by having people watch them? That's just amusing to me.
the plastic spoon turn me off otherwise trhe live prawns is really crunchy and fresh which i live
@25:43...it a no no to eat at this stall...even if it is nice and tasty ..will u?..OMG..
omg ya... boiled with the plastic net along in the soup...
No, that’s the net that comes from the suppliers. She puts it in a cloth bag for boiling.
鸡饭不要饭🤨
I wish everyone stopped using single-use plastic bags and cutleries every day. They need to be banned 😢
Low carbs?? You are kidding me! the prawn broth has lots of sugars most of the seller will put rock sugar to give you that impression the rich prawns broth are natural....
As I explained, there are three categories in this video: keto, carnivore and lower carb. This one falls in the lower carb (not low carb) category. It’s basically for those who want to reduce their carbs, but don’t want to go all the way to keto.
the dish here is lower in sugar than normal prawn soup stocks but yes, it still won’t qualify for keto.
The broth here is lower in sugar as compared to the typical Beach Road, blanco court style
If you are doing so many food reviews, to help reduce plastic waste, you should take along metal cutlery… every little thing will help, right.
I really like the info from your video… keep it going, dude…
