  • Capt Pat Rooney (videographer) and Technical Rebreather Diving Instructor Andy Favata shoot a 1,500lb anchor crossmember from the RMS Oregon aboard Tempest Dive Boat.
Skip to 18:00 minutes if you only want to see the bag lifting. If you listen closely you can here the poly line that was anchoring it snapping! Definitely not intended.
Be careful if you ever try something like this and never underestimate the anchoring power of mud! (Warning! This is not an actual How To video!)

What was the weight of the crossmember being lifted?
Good to know that it takes around 2 AL80's to lift that.

Does the bags have an auto deflator valve to ease pressure as the bag rises?

It does have one. It was actually leaking a bit on this dive and we were concerned about dropping the anchor at the surface.

ZS6JMP I used to use a queen size waterbed mattress inside a net to lift heavy stuff. It worked, but you have to be carful doing these things.

From what I could find this wreck is at 130'. At least one of the divers was on a rebreather and by the signs of their voices they had helium in their mix.

@@COM70 Looks like the diver chimed in some time back, "KISS 20/20 is my "regular" mix"
      KISS rebreather
20/20 that is 20% O2 and 20% Helium (for our non divers)
Trimix is used in very deep dives instead of air to reduce the partial pressure of oxygen (to avoid oxygen toxicity) and nitrogen (to avoid nitrogen narcosis). Heliox is a mix of helium and oxygen (“heli” and “ox”). These days its called Normoxic Trimix (min 16% Oxygen) and Hypoxic (anything below 16% Oxygen) Trimix.
