It's April 7th, 2020 and the CSX New Castle Subidivsion road crossing at Alrignton Street in Akron, Ohio is throwing a fit. It has produced what is known on CSX EC-1 forms as a "False Partial Activation". For an hour and a half, I was at this crossing, camera recording, and directing people that the crossing was broken and that their best option was to turn around. Still yet, many people did not listen to my advice and unwisely went around the gates.
Out of the hour and half that I was here, there were several cars that went around the down gate, including three police cars that were having none of it. Go figure that they could have probably directed traffic better than I was doing. The following footage is the few boneheads that I caught on camera when I was not personally in camera shot as well.
Running around railroad gates is not only illegal, it is also very dangerous. Please visit Operation Life Saver's website for more information about how to prevent boneheaded people from going around railroad crossings: oli.org/
that was a railroad crossing malfunction
I can't stand people going around the gate people are so impatient at Railroad Crossings and most importantly people that don't stop at crossings without gates
@@rylyeharding13 For one thing you don't know how long the arms are going to stay down, so people drive around them if there's no train in sight because they have to get some place they need to be.
That's not safe to.go around the gate other than emergency there is no excuse to go around the gate because they are impatient just because there is no train in sight doesn't.mean go around if its still down find another crossing. Don't be stupid and go around the gate
Railroad crossing broken
When this happens you should call the phone number thats on the blue sign attatched to the Crossbuck and gate pole right away and Railroad Maintenence will be dispatched to repair it.
Just commented this and yes. This needs to be a mandatory video that all DMV's play.
i like when you said hallelujah when the csx truck came to save the day
Thank you! I just had to include the sound effect it after seeing how many people out their lives on the line. Glad you enjoyed!
All the bonehead counts at 4 through 7 is really funny 😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Railroad crossing: YOU SHALL NOT PASS!
XD
Neat seeing that remaining set of 8 inch lights on the older cantilever.
youd be surprised how many still exist.. more then you think.
Imagine a train actually came and hit a car. That would be some good karma right there. I only counted one car that did the right thing and turned around.
There were several that did, yet by far, on average, a lot of people just went around the gates including 3 police cars. I tried to talk to each driver to have them turn around, the ones that I did talk to listened, but I didn't want to show myself on camera, so a lot of the ones that did turn around did not get into the video.
And on top of that, a train did come through! No one was coming down the road either direction at the time, however.
The garbage truck also turned back
DMV needs to make it mandatory to know where the "emergency number" on Railroad Crossings is located.
in what town
So now if i see a car going around the gates, I would be like, "YOU BONEHEADS!" 😂
Think about it it’s like one of those DO NOT ATTEMPT I see in TV commercials and those classic Looney Tunes cartoons with like explosion and going over cliff stunts that are so dangerous you can get catastrophically injured even killed
Now this is quality content
Quick Story:
A railroad crossing set off for 5 minutes before the train came. Some people were lucky, and some were lost. One person went by and the train soaked into them at 45 MPH.
did one signal get destroyed through The years? newer facing us because I noticed the opposite one has the old GRS cantevlier and the new one has the upgraded style signal
No idea. Quite possible they just replaced the one side because someone drove into it, or they just put whatever leftover parts they had left onto it. Being this part of Akron, either is possible
Nice catch bro!
It is also against the law. A cop sat near a active crossing, someone went around, and they got pulled over.
I kind of don’t blame them for that because there’s no train in sight or horns being blown and the gates were not functioning properly, so what’s the point?
First: If a crossing is malfunctioning you're supposed to report it to the railroad by calling the number on the blue sign.
Second: What if a train DID come by and someone got hit being an idiot and following 10 drivers around the gates?
You wouldn't follow someone off a cliff, would you?
@@gnnascarfan2410 they have horns for a reason
Csx truck needs fix RRC problem 2:07
This incident has happened to me before so one time after the farmrail came we went the same way there was a railroad crossing and it went off for no reason
I tell you what some people are not very smart when it comes to gated Crossing signals no matter if they're still down people still have to stay behind them until they go up I've seen a lot of people do that at a lot of the gated crossings in Newark Ohio
Some of them will learn the hard way one day. Others, will never get taught this lesson
Th old light flash good but not the new sometimes yeah?
Depends on what you like seeing in a crossing. As far as old technology breaking, it was actually a broken rail IN the crossing that caused it to malfunction. Unfortunately couldn't get footage of them fixing the rail.
It's a glitch between the camera and WCH LED's.
That happened to me a few days ago I called it in and told them the gate number
Who do we call when these gates act up?
There is normally a blue place card at each railroad crossing, somewhere on the post. That will have (should have) a phone number and a crossing ID. If it doesn't have a phone number, I would suggest calling 911 if it is malfunctioning. They will know how to contact the railroad
Go around a CROSSING gate is bad because it says 2 track and there is train around?
Well it certainly isn't SAFE. During the filming of this there was a ballast train that went through that I never heard calling singals on the radio and all of a sudden it was there. If cars were still just going around the gates then because they THOUGHT it was safe, there may have been a fatality that day. So in my opinion, it is always better to heir on the side of caution and never run around any down crossings.
If CSX is aware the signal is malfunctioning, shouldn’t any trains be flagging the crossing?
I LOVE that song
Thank you - check out Sheet Music Boss for other great arrangements like this!
The drivers of those cars were saying, "I aint got time for this. Fuck it I'm just gonna go around the gates anyway."
At first it sounded like a piano cover of the object cringe intro
Wut st is dis?
Arlington Street, FRA Crossing ID #503587G
Yikes
I wonder if law enforcement got a hold of the video and ran the plates and mailed citations. Imagine explaining this in traffic court.
the crossing is *broke*
What are boneheads drivers?
Gate runner
And nice catch on camera!
Thank you!

Crossing malfunction
Does the maintenance guy count as a bonehead?
Yeah, I was wondering that too. I thought no since he would have had more knowledge than others about on coming trains, and at the same time it was the easiest way for him to get to the signal bungalow on this side of the tracks. So I let him go, but the car that went right after him of course got the bell
