    00:00 Introduction
The SKX009J1 is the "Made in Japan" version of the SKX009 and is presented on a black Seiko "wave" rubber strap; these two characteristics are reflected by the J and the 1 in the reference number, respectively.
00:43 First Look & Case Dimensions
While the SKX009J1 is not a small watch, its dimensions are quite proportional so it wears rather comfortably if not compactly on the wrist. Nevertheless, this is a sports watch with a bulkier strap so it's not going to fit under a normal shirt cuff.
The SKX009J has a 42.5mm stainless steel case, 13.4mm case thickness, 46mm lug-to-lug, and 22mm between the lugs (strap size).
    04:31 SKX009J1 Pepsi Bezel Details
The SKX009J has a two-tone (blue & red) metallic bezel insert with silver minute calibrations and a luminous pip at the top index. The watch also has a Seiko Hardlex crystal protecting its face.
    05:08 Dark Blue Dial
While at first, the Seiko SKX009J's dial may appear black, it is in fact a dark blue tone. Depending on the light, the dark blue will be more or less apparent. In-person, the blue tone of the dial is quite attractive.
Also on the dial are luminous hour indices and polished center hands along with a printed minute track that surrounds the entire dial.
    06:30 SKX009J1 Individual Elements
This Made in Japan SKX009 has some elements on the dial that are unique to this version. They include some white text under the DIVER'S 200m text as well as a small "Made in Japan" under the 6 o'clock index.
    06:54 SKX009J1 vs SKX009K2 Comparison
Brief visual comparison between the Made in Japan (J) vs. Non-Made in Japan (K)
    07:29 Water Resistance & Crown
The SKX009J1 is rated to 200 meters (660ft) of depth and has a screw-down crown that helps ensure no moisture can access the case even under high pressure.
08:15 Demo Of Setting The Time On SKX009J1
The 7S26 movement powering the SKX009J does not feature hand-winding nor hacking seconds functions. It does have a 40-hour power reserve.
    09:36 SKX009J1 Black Rubber Strap
The black rubber "wave" strap of this SKX009J1 provides an iconic look but is not the most comfortable option. It is also slightly stiff so it also makes the watch wear bigger since the strap does not easily contour to the shape of the wrist.
10:53 Caseback & Underside Of Strap
The SKX009J1's caseback indicates that the watch is manufactured in Japan but this does not make it a more accurate movement than those found in SKX009 watches no made in Japan.

Agreed. There's a reason they've been around for so long and continue to be so popular.

Why is this SKX line going up in price?

      Hey Ken,
I'd say there's a number of reasons for them going up in price, here's a couple of them:
      - Everything is going up in price and many luxury watches have had stellar performance over the past 2+ years. While the SKX is not necessarily a luxury watch, they are definitely pieces that are loved by the same collectors that buy luxury watches
      - The SKX line is now discontinued so there is perceived scarcity, even though Seiko produced millions of SKX over the years

That’s insane. First setting. What’s the deal with the thickness of your wrists??????

My wrist is actually 7in. in circumference! I'm not 100% sure but I believe this may be a long strap vs. the normal sized one.
