    I cannot believe that there are not anymore hits on this!! I was I Lubbock, Texas when this happened and phoned my Dad to tell him to change the channel to see it. I am so glad that we live here and that I can now play it for him via recording from this site.
    As baseball fans and Americans, Thank you Jack Buck and THANK YOU to all that have protected my freedom to be a teacher, a baseball fan, a football fan, a basketball fan and, SIMPLY AN AMERICAN!!!! WE HAVE IT SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

    Ernie Harwell passed away today, and I couldnt help but think about Mr Buck. Those of us whom where lucky enough to grow up sometime this era are some of the luckiest people around.
    RIP Jack, RIP Harry, RIP Ernie.

    I am a Cubs fan, however I can say that this is one of those moments where everything else seems insignificant compared to what is going on elsewhere. Jack Buck was truly one of the games great voices, and greatest human beings.

    My family was there also. Jack will forever be missed. St. louis loved this man and he made st. louis baseball what it is today.
    We have the best fans in baseball because this man helped to teach us what it meant to be a fan.

    I was there that night. It was the first time since 9/11 that I was able to find some sort of peace. Jack Buck was so special and I believed he helped everyone who heard that poem that night to begin the process of going on with life.

    for the last 2 comments my response is whether we were searched to get in the stadium or something of this being a load of crap the point of it is Jack was a centerpiece of STL sports for many years and he wasnt even a player, his speech was for us to get back to normality the best we can after the disaster which occured and baseball restarting was a step in the right direction every1 in this area respected him so the fact it was Jack there gave a comforting feeling no1 else cud have pulled off

    The US is not perfect. Bush was not perfect neither is Obama. But we are still the place people risk their lives to reach. we do NOT live in fear. That first game after 9-11 proved that. We were NOT afraid. I go out without fear. They have NOT won. Yes things have changes some for the better some for the worse. Like in everything time will tell.
    Thank you to all our military and their families. We appreciate your gifts.

    "Don't give me a bunch of crap that as long as you're doing nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about."
    Certainly that is not true for everyone. But generally, nothing bad is going to happen to you if you stay out of trouble. Freak killings and accidents happen, but people getting murdered are usually caught up in something bad themselves.

    How does a pat down at a sporting event hurt you? It doesn't. It will only effect you if you're carrying a gun or bomb into the stadium. Despite what you think, people aren't sheep. Just because there isn't mass objection to searches at a sporting event (which are done by STADIUM PERSONNEL NOT THE GOVERNMENT, IT IS THE CHOICE OF THE RESPECTIVE LEAGUES) doesn't mean people are ripe to have all their civil liberties violated. YOu aren't the only smart person in the world.

  • @pmteet
    @pmteet 15 років тому

    In reality we should have been doing that a long time ago. Not just because a terrorist could do something but anyone could have brought a gun in or so forth.
    I do not know anyone who is afraid at the games (other than loosing to the cubies that would be horrible :p ) The cameras are not to protect from attacks but robberies from out own people.

    These words ring true in the halls of history. But how do you defeat a cultural flaw? We'll figure it out, but ultimately that's the realization that wasn't fully understood on 9/11. This is not a war of a giant oppressor against a tiny incapable entity. If nothing else in this "war" on terrorism we have achieved a greater rift in the world that may have once unanimously viewed the relationship b/w them & us as a crusade/jihad of friend vs enemy & instead leaned some towards reconciliation.

    Reagan's apology was far too late to have any substantive effect on those were interned. Would you like Bush to apologize to all those who are in terror camps now or after we find out they are not plotting against the US? California is Reagan's homestate. It was self-serving. Ben Franklin was thinking of the French rev. not what was actually put into practice at the time of the signing of the Const. Point is liberty withtheConst.and ourhistory as the base is what you are willing to fight for.

    LOL I do not live in fear. It is ashame you do. Camera are a deterant to some not all true. Metal dectors, or someone looking through backpacks is a simple messure. Yes someone WILL get something through. If you do not like any of these things you should stay in your home. I do not see cameras in banks as a threat or anywhere else to my liberty. If I don't want to be taped going into walmart I will not go.
    I wonder where you live to be so afraid and angry.

  • @tobysaviano
    @tobysaviano 15 років тому

    what is essential liberty? only those enumerated in the Const.? what the Court says are our liberties? you lost some cred when you say Reagan cause that would be like the Founding Fathers apologizing for slavery...

  • @pmteet
    @pmteet 15 років тому

    Obviously, you did nt make that clear. Gee you are awful angry. Are you angry with obama or bush?? Or is it the entire US government. I bet that if your loved one was raped and one of those cameras caught the animal that did it you would not be bitching about them. Would you say NO do not use that evidance because it is a police state measure? I bet not.
    I am done with this as I do not want to disrespect the thread. I appologize to the owner for letting it get this far.
