I had the choice between this and the dr8 at Xmas,I chose the dr8 but I've nearly bought myself one of these a few times since,especially with them being so cheap😁 Seriously though I have to stop myself from buying another rc every other day lol I keep telling myself I don't need anymore but I just want them all😂😂
The diffs were almost dry on mine, well lubed on the outside and barely the same on the inside. Its bloody great fun but I found it a little squirrely. There are spacers between the top ball joint and arm and removing them takes it from positive camber to about 0.5 negative camber and helped it feel much more planted. Ideally I want it negative in the front and only just positive in the back so its go neutral under turn at the front and neutral when squatting from power but I havent got round to setting it up. Its not my favourite to work on!
Yes, I did notice the diffs will need a bit of tuning. I plan to give it a good going over and soften the shocks a little

They have just released a ‘Muscle Car’ bodied one. Looks like they have an all blue with Shelby stripes 👌 (check Modelsport website)
Bought one in gunmetal grey as soon as they came out and i was very surprised on how good the quantum flux R is. First thing I did was add a new heatsink and cooling fan, checked all the parts making sure they were all tight, charged a 3s and 4s and went mad. Added a 22 tooth pinion gear and it went hard and fast, love my quantum flux R 🇦🇺. Got mine up to 75mph. Then added a metal spur gear and even better.
Was it just a pinion and spur that got it to 75?
Hey man what upgrades did you do to get 75mph?
It always comes down to gear and bearing quality. If your gears are cheap your rig is cheap.

I bought the blue muscle car version not many videos on that one anyway its hard to find awesome hobby grade muscle cars especially cheaper I got mine for about 355 I believe off OMG rc just waiting for it to come in its beautiful and ordered that plus two other vehicles from other sites im waiting on im excited 😊
the quantum flux r is almost the same thing as the serpent cobra gte

good for price, not an Infraction but then not £600, maybe a gear up will see 60mph
My first two cars when I recently got back in to the hobby were Maverick phantom and quantum flux. I've recently sold them, but they served as useful learning curves and got my spanner skills up. The flux went like stink and looked the part, but it was fragile. Too fragile for its speed to be fair. Went through several diffs and ditto A arms. Hopefully this beastie is more resilient. It certainly looks and goes well.
the quantum flux for me is pretty strong, weird, only one time i hit a post and destroeyd a arm but i dont blame the car for it, it was a metal post
I don’t think it handles too well, if you was to put this against a carpark basher crew , one smash and that’s out the the game .
Suspension needs a tune, and maybe the diffs

Wow 😳 it's a pretty little kit for the price, double pillar ball front and rear. 3674 motor is crazy with adjustable mount, well that could be worth a punt.
Yes, seems good. Needs a little tweak here n there. Softer suspension will help a bit

It does really rip!! I have noticed that some people are covering the ( hand hole) in the rear diffuser for speed run’s.
Yes, probably doesn’t help to much with downforce being open like that

Maverick is by hpi so the qualities good? Then you say it’s not good. I’m sorry mate - been following yours vids for a while and I’ve had my own experience with maverick. It’s shite. I can guarantee this is crap and will break all the time. What’s the maintenance like on it? Have you got to strip the car apart to change a spur gear like on the other mavericks.
It’s 4s capable - yeah I’d be running it in 3s no more, unless you like changing melted diffs every 2 weeks.
Just a couple questions for you Tomley, how do the tires perform at top speed? And does it come with a high speed pinion gear or can you get a high speed pinion gear that will fit?

Maybe I'm alone here but the quantum flux got a lot of criticism. But after Maverick upgraded some parts no one really took it upon himself to review that specific model. I'm talking about the Quantum Flux XT/MT 80a version with a better ESC an HD axles.
It totally is in your league as you are often reviewing budget friendly stuff. Would love to see what you think of it.

Stock set up was about 70 kmh I have changed motor and pinion gear now doing over 100 kmh but keeping it straight is a big problem
Do these have any gyro built in to keep it straight like the Infraction 3s BLX?
how does this car compare to the Arrma Infraction 3S BLX??
I think these look really cool but they’re $399 in the US which doesn’t seem like such a bargain. Good review though, it makes me want one anyway 😆

I've only owned a couple of Wltoys and granted, bang for buck, it's near impossible to beat the Chinese, but a plastic chassis on a 300$ car seems bonkers to me.
How would it compare to the infraction 3s
The cheapest I've seen it is £317 but might be a start for me getting back in the hobby I like the infraction but to expensive for a first incase don't like it like I used to or even just getting out with it! I ran HPI And Maradaves at eh old track's when a teenager I loved my 1.8 HPI nitro never had issues with them really
Bought myself one used, the guy said the motor was blown, just turns out the throttle trim was set too high. My gain, his loss, fun truck to rip on, could probably do with a gyro, or maybe I can run on 3s. It's not quite the drifter it could be out of the box. Great looking truck for some bashing about, though.
At that price they’ve nailed it on the head , when you think the team associated hoonatruck is way more and no where near as good , Team associated have priced themselves out of sales when you can the Mavrick R

Nice review, it looks good! Very reasonable price. I have to many RC planes, I'm slowly selling them off, might use some of the funds for this bad boy, I'm guesing as its HPI spares should be easy enough to get?
