I am.a Minnesotan. Gov. Walz:s name is pronounced like the archetectual term, .WALLS." Most German-America immigrants arreived in the early to mid-19th century, so a Prussian accent doesn't fit him. Walz grew up working on the family farm. He is crack marksman (pheasants,). He had an A+ rating from NRA until the mass shootings led him to support the common sense gun legslation WHICH MOST AMERICANS SUPPORT. The NRA then downgraded his rating to F. He is center-left; in Europe, he would be considered Centrist. He believes in investing in the common good, particularly in the health of the people, air, water, and land, and in the education of our children and young adults. These sorts of investments are conservative in that they are sustainable and communitarian, stabilizing communities, wbile making more opportunities and generating general prosperity.
...wherein Josh admires Kamala Harris for: 1) not picking a woke VP (I agree, though none was really in the running, and she did choose easily the most left); 2) picking the guy who stumbled upon the secret sauce of name-calling; and, 3) her bravery in "going with her gut" instead of picking the popular governor of a state she needs to win because he's too, well, you know... Really, Kamala and VaLtz! allow Josh to go home to being the good center-leftist he is, which is fine. What concerns me about my erstwhile anti-woke comrades, though, is that maybe they were only concerned about the woke calling everyone racist, sexist, etc. when the fire was being trained on them, too. As long as the woke are only slandering non-leftists, it won't be a problem anymore.
I'm surprised you like this VP pick, considering how nuanced you are and how often I agree with you. First off, it's clear why she didn't choose Shapiro; he's Jewish, and they want to avoid any trouble with their pro-Hamas base, which is despicable. Plus, this guy is quite woke-he essentially let Minneapolis burn in 2020 and supports radical transgender youth ideology, both of which are very unpopular with normies. He's very far left, and I think the media elites see him as a regular guy you can have a beer with, but that's not Walz. I think this perception is just in their heads because it fits the narrative they want to believe. I believe it will end up being a mistake, and Shapiro would have been a much better pick that made sense in the real world and been a Sister Souljah moment for the far-left anti-Israel faction in the party, but no, they are doubling down... The Trump team is happy they picked him; that should tell you something. Sorry to burst your bubble, but don't get too chipper yet, mate!
First, you don't know why Walz was picked over Shapiro. There are a lot of people very unhappy with Israel and US support of the lack of basic humanity, but maybe youth protests in Chicago during the DNC convention was a possibility. Second, Walz did not "let it burn" in 2020. Did you hear the recording yesterday of the phone call where Trump congratulated Walz on his handling of it? Likely not. Maybe Walz just us a better fit for Harris? What is woke in you mind? Feeding low income kids in public schools without stigmatizing them? I can sort of see why some people would hate to feed kids. Actually no I can't. Who would ever call a small town high school teacher, football coach, former NRA member, hunter, gun owner, ice fisherman, freedom from government overreach --- as woke? Oh, right...
Doesn't matter either way. Truth doesn't matter. They can just astroturf him the way they've been doing with Kamala. That might be all that's needed to succeed.
People forget about the entire machinery just behind the curtain - BARELY EVEN behind the curtain lately! The actors we see are not the ones writing the script. Although to steelman Walz for a second, he sounds like he's talking off the cuff sometimes. Even if he's not. That's an advantage. Kamala? No way huh! 😂
According to Josh her best quality is choosing her VP, when everyone sane knows the DNC hierarchy did. PS, they also dictate the day’s media buzzword ( weird, joy ….etc )
Well put Josh! Kamala's choice of Tim Walz as her VP has put a spring in my step this week.
Cool thoughts Josh. I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Josh. You have to be one of the most astute cultural commentators out there. Why you haven’t got 1 mil subs is a mystery to me.
Nice voice
Walz is pronounced "walls", like the plural of the English word "wall".
i like his version more
Great and insightful commentary Josh. Agree with you 100%. Please just stop the loud, Germanized "Waltz" thing. Irritating and silly, once was enough.
first time watching subbed 👍🏼

@@deeky1239aside from his opinions, what did he say that was misinformation? I’m genuinely curious because I don’t know that much about this VP pick.
She chose him?
You’re kidding ya self.
She doesn’t choose her own words now.
