15 things I learned about my 2019 Mazda CX-9 from my owners manual

  • Just bought this car after a few years of research and waiting, and loving it! Then I spent 3 hours and read the manual. What things I learned that I would not have known otherwise! Decided it would help others to maybe learn some great features of their car they might not have known about. Note my CX-9 is Signature trim, some of these may not apply to your car if you have a different trim level. But most will.
    They are, in order:
    1. Link seat memory/HUD to key fob!
    2. Adjust liftgate height!
    3. Mirrors can be folded manually!
    4. 360 camera can be set to auto on!
    5. Rain sensing wiper sensitivity is adjustable!
    6. Rear window defog also activates mirror/windshield heater!
    7. Hill holder works, both forward and reverse!
    8. AFS system moves the headlights with the steering wheel!
    9. Excessive speed monitor can be default set!
    10. Bypass Apple Carplay quite easily!
    11. MPG can be set to display each time car turns off!
    12. Accelerator kickdown switch for MOAR POWR!!!!
    13. Button on trunk exterior conveniently locks all doors!
    14. Volume of all beeps is customizable!
    15. Fob has physical key for zombie defense!
Thanks for watching. Peace and hope to you today.

Mazda is a creature of a different caliber than other manufacturers. Every vehicle they make has a sporty more entertaining feel to it. They also go above their price in comparison of quality against the competition.

Cool video. I had a 2009 CX-9 for 10 years, drove it nearly 200K miles…but now I’m a proud owner of a 2021 CX-9 Carbon Edition. I’m sure some of these same cool features are in my new car. Thanks for the great video!

Really awesome. Thank you for doing that. The turning headlights I think work only when you’re moving. Some cars also have a auto hold button right next to the park. That’s so the car doesn’t roll away when you get off the break and drive or park. Pretty cool stuff.

I love the fiesta st how you just leave you key fob in your pocket and press the tailgate button and it opens even though the rest of the car is still locked, so many more expensive cars just don't have that simple feature. And also being able to put your door windows up or down with just the key fob.

*** Also, if you’re outside of the car, and want to put all the windows down, simultaneously then:
    - Press the UNLOCK button on the (KeyFob), 4 times, and HOLD the unlock button on the FOURTH press, and ALL the windows will come down (all the way down, or until you let go of the unlock button !)
*** ALSO, (ONLY IF YOU HAVE PUSH BUTTON START/STOP IGNITION) if you park the vehicle but/ and want the auxiliary power to remain on for 15 mins, instead of turning the car off and then having to press the ignition button again once or twice( to run, or to continue to run the infotainment system still ), then :
-after putting the car into park, but before letting go of the Gear Shift Release Button on the Gear Shift Selector, AND before pushing the STOP button to turn the car off, then
    A) Keep Continuing To Squeeze and hold the gear shift button on the gear shift selector stick while in Park,
    B) Continue To Hold your foot on the brake
    C) Depress the START / STOP ignition button to shut the engine off, but keep the auxiliary power on for 15/20 mins !

Thanks. Did a K&N air filter but aside from that there isn't much available. There are a few intakes available but they add intake/turbo/blow off noise which is not what I want, this is a luxury quiet car. There's also a catback available but too loud for the same reason above. I would like their axelback which adds a nice rumble without being too loud but at the price point ($600) I'm not ready to spend my money on that. I wish there was tuning for this platform, I'd be all over that.

The throttle kick down switch is a switch that tells your vehicle that you need more acceleration and it then downshifts the transmission to get into the power and of higher rpms. You definitely do not want to delete that. It is especially handy if you are driving up a hill or towing something.

    A few comments:
-Hill start assist on this car is among the worst I’ve had on any vehicle. After a quick stop (say an incline with a stop sign on top, it will roll. Any other car I’ve owned has had instantaneous HSA.
-Holding the dial gauge for a few seconds will switch the “distance to empty” and “instant mpg” digital gauges to numeric on either side of the speedometer.
-I had no idea about the additional pedal click. Guess I’ve really slowed down my driving from my younger years.
-The car (at least the models with the newer fob style) can be set to auto lock when walking away from the vehicle

Great feedback and inputs, does not feel like a 7 passenger vehicle, very nimble. Plenty of torque. Really no complaints at all. Best of all my wife still likes it. I was shooting for a Kia Stinger but she picked this. Great alternative.

  • @conchaivn
    @conchaivn Рік тому +1

Wow how did you get 9k below MSRP? You must be a great negotiator, or the dealer must be desperate to get rid off it for some reason. That's like 20% of MSRP. I got 4k below MSRP and thought I did well until I see this video. Lol.

    • @gray25xt
      @gray25xt  Рік тому +1

2 strategies, and I've bought many cars so I have experience.
One, it was December 2019 and I bought a 2019 model, so they wanted to get it off the lot and there I was.
Two, knowing my bottom line...I called 5 or 6 dealerships and negotiated prices on the same car, then it was just a matter of choosing which one would give me the lowest and using that as bartering power. The place I bought it from turned me down so I left, but 3 minutes later they called said they would accept my offer after all. Be ready to make your offer and walk away, if you can do that you'll usually get what you want. As one guy told me once, look the salesman in the eye, name the price you're willing to pay, then the next person that speaks, loses.

    • @conchaivn

Great. Went from 4 kids in a van to 2 in the CX-9 (2 are grown/gone). We keep the back 3rd row down 95% of the time and it has more than enough cargo room. Only drawback is we can't fit a bike or a 4x8 piece of wood in there anymore but it's working out great. Great mpgs (23 around town vs 18 in the van) and extremely luxurious/quiet. Turbo is nice too.

I realize I am WAY late on this video.
But the rear hatch access button also has another feature besides just locking the doors.
If you press that button before you open the hatch, it will unlock all the doors to the car. I like to call that the "Costco Feature", so while I am loading the Costco run into the back hatch, the rest of the fam can pile in.
Likewise, if you press the unlock button on the passenger side door handle, all of the doors will unlock.
And if you press the access button on the driver side, the drivers door unlocks only. If you double press the driver's side button, all doors unlock.
I prefer to use these rather than digging into my pocket for the fob. I have to touch the door handle to open the door anyway, so why go for the fob?
