Making Leather Magazine Pouches: Blocked leather cases for single and double stack pistol magazines

- To finish up the shoulder holster project I have been working on I needed to make two magazine pouches. One of these is for a single stack .45 magazine and the other is for a double stack. These are made with what I have heard called a block molded or block cased method. The leather is cut over sized and then wet formed into shape before being trimmed to size and assembled. This same technique is also useful for making belt pouches for multi-tools, flash lights and many other things. Since these are made to clip onto the shoulder rig that I made in a previous video they are actually upside down for a normal magazine pouch. It is a simple matter to change how the spring clip is attached to make these into belt pouches.

I am always working on building something and try to average a UA-cam video once a week. Most often leather work, but I have also posted videos on black smithing, knife making, casting, and even how I make soap. Be sure to Subscribe if you are interested in any of these topics, or just making things in general.
I'm going to try that1 Thank you so much.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for posting this video! You have saved my husband so much frustration! He was about to give up on making his holster when we stumbled upon your video.
I'm so glad to hear that! Thank you for watching.
I have made a couple of magazine pouches based on your design and they turned out pretty good. Thanks again!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Good job
Thanks for watching!
Straightforward style and very nice product indeed. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
Nice video! Thanks.
Glad you liked it!
@@bransonsgeneralstore Can you tell me which spring clip you used? Thanks again.
I usually use spring clips from Tandy leather Sku# 1240-00. They are a little thicker metal then less expensive clips that I have found elsewhere. They hold tight and don't bend open as easily so I rarely need to replace one.
@@bransonsgeneralstore Thanks very much!
@@bransonsgeneralstore What size and type of rivet did you use with the spring clip? Thanks again for your help.
Good job, liked your video, informative, Cheers!
Thank you. Informative is usually what I am trying to accomplish with a video.
Nice video
Thanks
Excellent work! Where do you get you clips?
I have always liked the ones I buy from Tandy leather. I have tried cheaper clips from other sources but they have been a little thinner metal and don't hold as well.
@@bransonsgeneralstore thanks for the tip and the quick reply. I really got a kick out of your invite to look at all the other things that you do. Seems like you collect hobbies at the same rate I do! Always looking for the next skill to master. Again, love your work, keep it up!
Is there a video on the construction of the shoulder holster?
I made those to go with a shoulder holster in a previous video. ua-cam.com/video/B37-I9eTiVs/v-deo.html
