My son was 7 and in the hospital for six months being treated for Leukemia when this song would play on the radio. He is almost 30 years old now. Thankful, he is my warrior 🙏
Man, this song takes me back to my first job, summer 1996, Mohawk gas station in Calgary, AB, Canada. Everytime I hear it, even now, it brings me back to those simple days of minimum wage and free fountain drinks!
A most excellent job. I'm 63 and still listen to this great composition by Dishwalla. This song caught my ear years ago when God was referred to as "her". I love a different point of view and I love the music to this.
Such a beautiful and optimistic song. I was in jail and on my way to court on a cold January day. I'd been up since 3:30 am and exhausted. I was transported in a van with other people and I lucked out and got to sit shotgun with the deputy and this song came on the radio. I knew I'd get released and I did in just hearing this and feeling like maybe my higher power was giving me a thumbs up. After all this, I completely turned my life around. So thank you JR from the bottom of my heart ❤❤❤❤❤

Thank you for this video! I lost my son to cancer this year. You brought a smile to my face & so many images of wonderful memories with each verse. Not sure what brought me here, but whatever it was - thank you so much!
I simply love the image of a woman holding her arms open to a pretty sky scape and unleashing an apparent tornado of love, indicated by all the hearts. I would love a poster of this.
I love this song, and im non-religious i grew up listening to this song and my dad showed me this song and it means alot to him. He says he thinks of me when he hears this song. Which adds value to this song for me.
To me, this amazing song is about how there is purpose to our lives ... that we're NOT here randomly -- but that we will never find that purpose unless we actively wonder about it. And as we move through life, we feel an increasing drive to learn our specific, individualized lessons and gain wisdom, especially as we realize that our time is running short (e.g., going from "mid- to -late-afternoon."). Unlike other shoes, "sneakers" do not "make hard noises," and therefore suggest that he is especially sensitive to all the insensitivity all around him. He's asking about deeper meaning and purpose in a world that might otherwise seem so random and purposeless. I've always loved this song. Thanks for posting it.
Allan Chino - I love your interpretation of this! Thanks for sharing that. I am at this point in my early 40s where I feel like I am nearing rush hour "picked up the pace" ... it is just such excellent epic poetry. LOVE IT ... I will love this into my 80s.
I heard this song first on the radio in the mid 90’s while developing negatives in a dark room of New England school of photography and it stayed with me ever since.
I heard this on the radio this morning; had to find it. I must admit it was a great way to wake up. I'm so glad i found it :) it is such an amazing song!
Saw you J.R. opening for Toad The Wet Sprocket at the Del Mar Sound in July of 2024. You still got it! You knocked it out of the park. My wife said your voice is beyond awesome, I agree. Thanks for the opener it was great.
When it comes to live music, I am old as dirt. But I am a newbie to You Tube. I read the lyrics perfectly and their timing was spot on. 10 on a scale of 10.
It is refreshingly beautiful that this song approaches GOD in the form of an open ended question, not a well defined and declarative proclamation. And by using the word "she" it challenges the conventional viewpoint that is usually presented by the most vocal proponents of every organized religion on the planet. Well done.
Perhaps it's the conventional viewpoint because it is the most logical. Why did men naturally come to dominate every culture in history? Maybe one sex has a true leadership quality....
Wow I am totally blown away from what I always imagined now since I just mentioned it I'm immediately thought dude calls his child's mother God or whoever woman in his life is. I love this. Reminds me my dad's humor. I miss his smile and his love for life.
The Catholic Church teaches that God is neither male nor female. He is pure spirit and not confined to human biology. God merely chooses to reveal himself as male.
Thank you for creating this rendition. I enjoyed it much more than the official? music video. This is one of my favourite songs from the 90s when my kids were growing up, asking all kinds of questions.

I just found this album today in one of mom's old CD stacks. It brought a tear to my eye. Beautiful song, and you did an amazing job with the lyrics video. Well done all around :)
Amazing song I haven't heard in too long. I woke up singing it in my head, so I think I heard it in a dream (something that happens to me a lot). Had to look it up. Good start to the day.
I'm a preachers kid and I used to be a waiter. I once waited on the table of a priest who taught at a seminary. He randomly asked me if I knew what the Trinity was. I said, " Yeah, The Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit" He said, do you know thar men represent The Father, women represent The Holy Spirit, and the baby they have together represents The Son. I'm 33 now and I was maybe 22 when I was told this. I like this interpretation. I looked up Holy Spirit in the dictionary and it means Spirit Of God.
Enjoyed this quite a bit, any representation of this song is deserving of a million views at a minimum- not many songs moved me in life-this did-and will
Thinking about this song on this early morning, I really thought it was (Match box 20) who sang this. Been a long time since I heard this song. I still enjoy listening to it.
I temember listening to this with my best friend in the early 90's hanging at the marina . We were both going through some shit at the time...
