That was a lot of stress at the borders. When I first travelled across Europe every border was manned and paperwork for the vehicle as well as passports often needed to be shown. Usually it was not too long at the border but there were always queues of traffic. It became easier as borders opened up but I do remember being left a long while at the German/Polish border in the early 1990`s and also having a happy hour at a Slovak/Hungarian border post while the guards had their lunch break. Having made travel so much easier for years we now have a hard border once more and additional queues once more to enjoy to get in and out of the UK. I suppose it is just another "Brexit Bonus" that so many of our countrymen seem to have wanted and we have to endure (not happy).

Border crossings are really taking up so much time! We were happy about every border we could just cross, just like that, without waiting and showing passports. We really have a whole different appreciation for open borders after our trip!
