This is amazing method I think it could be used to test the surface resonance of any conductive freestanding object pretty awesome!!!

This was so incredibly helpful, thank you very much! So simple really :) I would have never thought that an object or a streamer has such a large effect

Hi Folly - what setting do you have your dmm on? would be good if you can include that on your schematic as well. Otherwise, you did an impressive job. Great website as well!

Hi, thanks for the upload, there are loads of free frequency gens on the net, i got one you can input any Q you want, i am going to use pc sound output, then opto isolated, then to a small amp. P.S its so true they do cost a bomb!!!

    Hi, thanks for sharing.
but i have to connect both negative end of tuner & the oscilloscope in order to get a visible sine wave.
    any advise?

Thank you very much for your video I like it and your presentation is extremely condensed.
I appreciate your time. We are in similar field

It is the basic part to radio, TV, cell phone, satellite signals and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance is used with MRI's. This coil was called 'the coil' by Tesla. Resonance is only a part of what can be learned with a Tesla Coil, but it is still not entirely understood.

Hi... Please excuse my ignorance but could you tell me what value capacitor bank I should use when finding the resonant frequency of the primary? I was under the impression that the resonance changes due to capacitance value... is this correct? Thank you for a great video as I can see it has helped many others...

  • @crmadsen

@nlimchua I can tell you that the only thing that changes when you do this is the phase of the primary. It will have no effect on the resonance freq of primary or secondary, as long as all applicable variables are constant.

Thanks for the video, this really helped. I have a very important question I have been wondering a long time: Regardless of amplitude, would the secondary oscillate STILL at the same primary driving frequency if the primary frequency was way of secondary resonance??

Yes. However most of your energy will be wasted instead of transferred.

Hi, im building a tesla coil and need the spark gap to fire at 40khz. Is there a way i can measure the bps/frequency accurately without damage to the device?

here's a design question for you: (have you observed or tried this?) would there be any noticeable performance difference if the direction of the primary winding is the same or opposite that of the secondary? ie. primary clockwise, secondary counter-clockwise; vice versa. Thanks.

When measuring with an oscilloscope, did you use an EMF sensor on the probe or is that just a plain probe?

@follytowers What about the wireless transmission of electrical energy through the air as nikola tesla described? Oh, right, not really practical lol

  • @nlimchua

so, your dmm has a frequency counter and you have set this as such, correct? thx

  • @leviterande

so by this "wireless" method can we measure even low frequency like in the hz range like 100-500hz at low voltages ? ..

Hi, is it possible for you to try resolve a question I have? If you feed the primary a different frequency than the resonant one, would the secondary oscillate at that fed frequency? ( amplitude would be low of course) thx

Kaledius it will always resonate because the voltage bounces up and down top to bottom quickly. It's wether it is in phase being pushed at the opportune moment or smashing into. I believe it will eventually synchonze itself. Lemme know if you would like to chat from time to time. I'm looking to make friends to tech talk with :)...

    Hi,
does the best power transfer occur from the primary to the seondary, when the 2 coils
    are in resonance ?
Did you try some Kapanadze tests yet ?
Have a look at my youtube account for these videos.
    Many thanks.
    Regards, Stefan.

Can you use a frequency generator from a cell phone to measure the secondary.. Also i have a homemade oscilloscope that doesnt have any adjustments. Would this be suitable for the task at hand?

    • @Hvtesla
      @Hvtesla  7 років тому

I tried that and had no luck. I suspected the output voltage was too low (the current is very likely too be low as well). Having said that a 555 timer chip can be used as a source _I have been told_ but don't think I've ever tried it.
Can't say about the oscilloscope but I very much doubt it. Firstly the signal being measured is very variable in strength, with the primary's received signal being (at a guess) a thousand times stronger than the secondary signal that's received by an aerial. Also the time base setting of the oscilloscope has to ideally be near the resonant freq of the coil to see it clearly on the display, as you need to easily distinguish between the 'ghost' (harmonic) readings and the actual frequency.

SIR COULD YOU PLEASE set the frequency to about 8hz or 7.8 there about and test it with a fish tank to see how they behave or other animals

    • @timstewart3593

@ Stine Newton : the lower the frequency the more enameled wire you need.
looking at a frequency to feet calculator says that it would be 5823.8 miles of enameled copper needed for 1/4 wave resonance @ 8 hertz, and 23295.4 miles for full wave @ 8 hertz . and probably insanely expensive capacitors!

How did Tesla do this when he didn't have any of these tools? Or did he?

    • @diecksl
      @diecksl 13 днів тому

You can do it without an oscilloscope or frequency generator. Simply change the turns of the primary and/or the capacitance in the tank circuit until you get a decent output. It may not be as perfect as the method presented here, but it will work quite well. With a bit of practice you will get "close enough" within 15 - 20 mins.

He isn't the first and he won't be the last....the tech that makes those transformers work is already under open patent laws. Tesla's Colorado notes are an excellent reference as to what causes that to work.....however it is very different from how modern physics explains it. NMR is the current term to taking advantage of the spin of the electron. :-)

Tesla would be ashamed of the DC structure in china. DC current was the reason tesla invented alternating current.

:O.......Radio, TV, internet, cell phones, satellites, NMR and dozens of other uses came from this coil. Not to mention...it can teach you the difference between lumped and open resonance. It also gives a basic understanding of what radiant energy is. No practicle use whatsoever.....hah!

Thank you for sharing your videos! I'm building a OneTesla from : onetesla.com/ and I would like to measure my coil - I do have 100Mhz Oscilloscope and 50Mhz Function Generator? For some reason I can't get it to do much at all. Thank you very much!
