Still driving one in 2018. Did thousands on the country's roads, uphill, downhill, one time even sideways (easy to roll). Cheap to maintain, very well made for rough terrain (it pissed on the Dacia/Renault Duster in slippery conditions). Steel engine shield, soft malleable bumpers, it has all it takes to go on rocky or bumpy roads with no hesitation, it can take a hell of a beating on mountain roads with virtually no side effect other than a mild headache. Big comfy interior, lots of space to put your stuff into, I've been in much bigger cars where I could't find a spot to put my phone or wallet or drink whatever. Simple mechanics, if you have some spare time, a cheap toolbox is all you need to maintain and repair it. I've done brakes and brake fluid flush, body repair & paint electrics, belt changes, bearing changes, exhaust replacement, trunk light, clutch repairs, and much more. On the downside, rust is a big issue especially around wheels, as there's not much protection but bare painted metal, but nothing a can of body filler and a spray of paint can't handle. :) And safety of course, even though it does exceptionally well in frontal collision. Side and back though... better not try it. My #1 all time favourite.
I got one, its the easiest car ive had to reverse park and fits in very tight spots easily. It is what it is and thats a city car, its not designed for luggage space or luxury but its a 5 door with 5 seats which is very convienient and cheap to repair and is all i need where i live at the moment 👍
My 20 year old matiz (39k miles) is currently waiting for a new exhaust, cant fault her tho, it is the original 😂 got some other little bits & pieces to do, my plan is to make her showroom ready again 😂
I love this car it had several names and other marks with the same chassis like Daewoo Matiz, Matiz II Baojun Lechi (China) Chevrolet Exclusive (Pakistan) Chevrolet Joy (Pakistan) Chevrolet Lechi (China) Chevrolet Matiz UzDaewoo Matiz Ravon Matiz Formosa Matiz (Taiwan)[3] FSO Matiz Pontiac G2 Pontiac Matiz Chevrolet Taxi 7:24 Chronos (Colombia) Daewoo Matix (Colombia)
These were produced in Poland by FSO, very popular in early 2000s. My grandpa had one. Cheap, easy to fix, almost never breaks. You can do 90-100 mph in Matiz, if you're driving alone, but it's not pleasant. The car body is made from paper-thin metal, rust is a problem later on, there's no features besides "go from place to place", and you don't want to have an accident in it.
Romanians always call the matiz/tico matchboxes on wheels, yes, it is a rush for life hitting 150kmh in those thinghs i built a buggy around the tico and then matiz 0.8 engines, still on 25inches, i cant hit 100 i can only do 95 unfortunatelly, and cant hit fith gear without bogging...
Summed up my feelings about my 2008 Spark which is just the 1.0 Matiz, its just an point a to b perhaps stretch it a bit more and make it a couple's beach/hiking car (depending on road condition). The car's acceleration and top speed is extremely affected by other occupants, also stuff in the back and A/C being on, sometimes I have to turn off A/C to go up a steep hill with 2 occupants.

I've got one 1998 m100. For now it has 155.000 miles, and I definetely sure - this is really good car. We use it in Russia. Here very popular m150 and m200 models, but they are sucks. Lots of them are suffer from rust, and they just rotted day by day, but not 1998 m100. Besides, design of m100 much better than design of later models. And by the way, I am 197cm tall... and you know what? I feel comfy when I drive in the city. One day I took in my car 4 passangers (one of them set behind). You think I'm done? No. They put on their knees two 13" wheels, that i took to deliver at the storage place at that day. Damn me. I am sadist.

omgosh. so cute I want one but I live in the US, I do own a 2001 Daewoo Lanos sport. I love it I've had it for 6 year's only has 82,000 miles. but I would even trade it for one of these daewoo they are just cute. lol
I have 2000 Hyundai Atos , 1l 60 hp engine . It can do 100 mph with 4 people inside , my has done over 125000 miles and worst things about it is that when is outside over 50 degrees celsius igniton coil overheats and half of engine dies and central locking has minor problems . It has great geabox , great in snow with right tires .
It's a good little city car. Roomy enough for 4 adults front and rear, or two adults and three small children (bit narrowly restricted for 5 adults though and it'd be a squeeze), small but fair boot space for one or two bags of shopping (and moderately good loadspace with rear seats folded) or just enough room for two suitcases, and reasonable economy. I would pick the 1.0L Daewoo Matiz if you want to regularly carry a full complement of people and things and make suitable progress on the open road as the 800cc engine is a bit wheezy, and feels it under load, struggling full loaded and losing its verve on the open road or in motorways.
The boot is far bigger than on Kia and Hyundai city cars and the strong suspension makes for a good ride anywhere. You overlooked that and failed to test the gearbox in proper use, which allows for good speeds. Top speed level on a motorway is actually 90 mph before it complains. Next time do your job properly.
What do you mean by "very bad" 0.8 is the best you're gonna get, just strip the interior, tht equals best storage space fuck passengers they can sit down along the sides like in a limo, or do you mean that it was studdering, lagging 10 yrs after stbbing the gas ? I know these engines like in the back of my hand, especially the matiz 0.8, man, those things were like built to lag and studder, on the other side, the tico 0.8 wich is the opposite of fuel injected like the matiz, tico is carburetted, and man, what a pain in the ass to set up and you cant adjust shit on that double barrel double butterfly valve carburettor... The float bowl jet neeldle couldn't be adjusted no matter what, and when you revved it, you could see the gas being dumped in on the squirt jet and then really dumped in via the pilot jet... I swear that did burns in 3rd gear and left tdi black smoke behing because of the rich air/fuel mix it was receiving, lol i could only travel 100m on freaking 6 litres of gas !!!! INSANE RIGHT? ??!!? And it left fucking whirpools in the tank, no big deal, it was like watching a toilet flush gasoline instead of water, if you revved it, you could watch the gasoline dropping harder than the bass...
