Before this game they started the season 6-0 and averaging like 27 or 28 points per game then they ended the season with a 10-6 record averaging 20 points per game after this game. The 2016 season was going to be bad for the Packers but Rodgers had to go godlike mode to carry a 4-6 Packers to win 6 games in a row. This game did expose McCarthy in some way.

    In Today's passing Frenzy league to hold one of the best QB's to 77 total yards passing is unheard of. This was just one game, but the proof was there GB was 6-0 going into this game as was Denver. And Denver destroyed them. This is by far the Greatest Defense in NFL history again because they did it today's league that favors the QB the WR's and can't jam after 5 yards it is all about passing and Denver did what they did all season long played Lights out Defense.

  • @JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly
    @JahNuhThunDeeTheOneAndOnly 2 роки тому +30

    As crazy as it sounds, these Broncos have a case to be the best defense in NFL history.
    Let me explain: Unlike other great defenses of the past, the 2015 Broncos have to play in a modern league that rewards offenses while instituting a myriad rules against the defense where even a seemingly minor action just a few years ago could now be a 10 yard penalty or a spot foul-and not to mention, their defense had to carry the burden of an offense that had *BOTH* a geriatric Peyton Manning and the tall sack dummy Brock Osweiler at QB alongside a weak run game-they simply never had as much field position to defend on almost every possession.

    • @WalterWhiteFootballSharing
      @WalterWhiteFootballSharing 2 роки тому

      And your point about modern game is blatant false, Broncos allowed 266 pts as if 2016 Patriots didnt allow only 250 15.6 points per game. 2017 Vikings 252. Every year theres great defense, its just not 85-86 Bears 187 points per game, but in 1987 the better rule era best team allowed 238 points. Only 12 point difference to modern Best Defenses.

I respect Aaron Rodgers so much, and believe he's the most talented QB to ever play the game, and that McCarthy would be working as a mall Santa Claus if it weren't for AR's brilliance. That was evidenced in 2017 when AR went down and they finished 3-8, and 2 of those 2 wins were against the Browns and Bucs in freaking Overtime. I hope one day AR gets the kind of team, defenses, and coaching that Brady's been able to ride his whole career.

    Rewatching this game is exactly how I remembered it.
    Broncos ran man almost all night, pressured Rodgers, and the Packers receivers couldn’t get open.
    McCarthy got bailed out by WR talent for a long time, but when he didn’t have a lot of it, he couldn’t succeed.
    Couldn’t scheme anyone open. Just generic shotgun play-calling.

      He tore his plantar fascia on a completion on a bootleg pass to Owen Daniels across field vs the Colts. He also apparently wasn’t fully healed from his torn quad from 2014 either until about a few weeks before he returned vs San Diego. He played through far more injuries than I think he or the team willingly let on to.
      Peyton’s post-surgery mechanics depended heavily on using his legs & footwork to generate extra power to get torque on the ball since he couldn’t generate as much via his arm post-surgery. That is why his arm looked so much worse. He couldn’t generate as much velocity on his passes as consistently if the part of his body he used most (his legs) to generate torque on the ball was compromised.
      Thank God the Broncos defense was so good. Peyton - for all of his struggles - led the NFL in GW’ing Drives (5) & 4th Qtr. Comebacks (4) in 2015 & was 8-1 in one score games where he played all 4 Qtrs.
      2015 was the lone time in his 18 year career that his team’s chances at winning or losing wasn’t almost entirely dependent on how he played. First time he ever had to be a complementary player & he managed to do it in a season of struggles that might’ve broken players with a weaker will. Peyton definitely was carried by his defense - as was the whole offense in general - to the Super Bowl 50 championship, but he did his part in earning it as well by being at his best when the chips were down (110.9 Passer Rating on drives w/ 2 min or less in the 4th Qtr, 108.3 Passer Rating on drives w/ 4 minutes or less left in the 4th Qtr.)

    People forget that Denver started off 4-0 the next year. After game 4 win, Emanuel Sanders Complain he wasn't getting the ball enough. You're 4-0 and you have a rookie quarterback and you have the nerve to whine. Look at the KC game here in 2016. Simeon hits Fowler on a 3rd and long to put Denver up by 8 with two minutes left. KC. Scores with no time remaining and converts 2. Denver loses in overtime. It wasn't the only time Denver's defense lapsed in critical times that year. Simeon was not the second coming of Unitas, but we are seeing guys like Purdy and Howell succeeding with good coaches. If I had one complaint of John Elway was his choices of head coaches after Kubiak. If you are going to develop a quarterback, hire a coach that can develop. Denver has never drafted a quarterback and then develop them long term. Ever! Griese and Cutler were the closest, and they were only successful for a couple years. My bad for the length of this. Just frustrated. There are good quarterbacks out there to develop. They don't need to be first rounders, they need to be coached
