I get it about setting your own house in order and focusing on the positive....but I struggle at times in overcoming my hatred of politicians of a certain party for the past many years since Sandy hook shooting ... How do I overcome this? How do I find it in my heart to at least minimize them if not forgive them ... I believe forgiveness is stressed a lot in Christian theology ..how does forgiveness relate to Karma Yoga I used to love reading the news..but have totally cut myself off from news websites as it triggers negativity in me ..How do take in the good while ignoring the bad ? (Bad in the sense - what triggers negativity in me)
You are Brahman You pervade the entire sansaar and also pervade the politician, a person called Srikanth Iyer hates and gets triggered. You are Brahman the witness consciousness for the person Srikanth Iyer as well as for all politicians and for everything in this world. You are Brahman that witness consciousness and not the body & mind. You are Brahman that witness consciousness neither the "karta" doer of action nor the "bhogta" enjoyer/receiver fruits of action. See the point of reference shifts from the body & mind to Brahman. You are Brahman to all the persons in this world and to all materials in this world, to all the living in this world. You are the witness, you are witnessing the play of Maya. Now the person Srikanth Iyer can relax and watch the play of Maya like he watches movies and doesn't attach itself to movies. When You identify Yourself with body & mind of the person Srikanth Iyer then You become the Doer of action and Receiver of fruits of action. Sri Krishna is telling that a Brahman identified with body & mind does action but does the action as a worship to God or as a duty for the welfare of every person or living being in the world. But do action without expecting any fruits of action. Offer all actions and fruits of actions to the feet of God. See the person Srikanth Iyer has identified his tendencies of getting influenced by negative vibes, who is sakshi witness consciousness here? That witness consciousness is the ever shining light of knowledge which reflects in your mind and then your mind notices and identifies the tendencies whether good or bad.
Wait … what! The atma gets enlightened!! Swamiji, this is a serious misstatement. I wish you’d correct it. Atma is ALWAYS free. It is the chitchhaya or chidabhaas that, when the ignorance is removed, creates (or earns) a gyan vritti that is known as the “akhandakaar vritti” or “brahmaakaar vritti” (I think), and never again let’s the ahankaar confuse the intellect as to the real identify of the Jeeva as Brahm.
I think you’re referring to 25:20 but when he says “the Atman that was under the confusion of being one with prakriti” gets realized, he is indeed referring to Chidabhaasa in another terminology. He himself clarified at 23:50 “the Atman is ever free”. Also, he earlier emphasised at 24:27 the the liberation is of the “mind illumined by consciousness” or of “consciousness + mind”, again pointing out precisely what you said, by speaking of Chidabhaasa in these terms.
