    Thank you SO much for this amazing film, The Hollies-Look Through Any Window 1963-1975! Such thorough research, great interviews, and skillful use of footage and music synergies. Allan Clarke is truly underrated as a vocalist and musician--his voice resonates with haunting sensuality. Not only that, what an admirable, humble man--married to the same (LUCKY!) woman for 50 years! He still has those Mancunian characteristics of unassuming humility and dry wit. Love him forever!

      Love Allan forever.
      The best lead singer there was.
      Love it too how he and Graham have remained good friends.

    I have a wonderful memory of meeting THE HOLLIES back in 1967 or 1968 up in Hollywood. Alan Clarke and TONY HICKS were exceptionally lovely to meet and very kind, Still have the autographed LP!

    The Hollies are definitely an underrated and underappreciated band.
    Songwriting, vocals and musicianship are right up there. They are, like many bands of the sixties, pioneers. Everything after that is mostly imitation or a variation of the same.

    Allan and Graham, true Everly fans and in my humble opinion, the greatest and most talented British group to date.

    Allan Clarke's voice was without doubt "the definitive Hollies"sound. Your modesty and still, down to earth attitude are a brilliant testament to your Manchester upbringing. Please understand the lasting impression you have made on many generations throughout the world has been immense - Mr Clarke you are Simply the Best!!

    Allan Clarke is rather bashful about the compliments of Graham Nash. Indeed, in this interview Graham Nash himself appeals as someone capable of working an audience as the front man. In any case, the compliment is a bit over the top - in that era there were lots of great lead singers and it is quite hard to compare them. Paul Jones of Manfred Mann had a winning way about him when I saw him live with the Manfreds. Clarke great singer on right songs.

      Allan's just a great singer in general.

    5:59 Nash has repeatedly claimed Elton John played on Two Yanks. Wikipedia says the claim "is not supported by session logs or by any other source." Also, there are eight Hollies songs on the album.

    The Hollies were even better than the 4 of Liverpool.But they did´nt have the managment like the guys from Liverpool.Their close harmony in singing was even better like the Beatles.But the history says THE BEATLES were the great.
    That´s all.And for that all peoples known`` Yesterday``!!
    But not ``Just one look``

    • @blackmore4
      @blackmore4 9 років тому +2

      Edgar Pauli Greatness certainly isn't measured by _"management"_. The Hollies were great indeed but I'm pretty sure that no historian could make much of a case for _"history"_ being wrong about The Beatles.

    • @ussexeter4601

      The Hollies were good, but they couldn’t touch the Beatles when it came to songwriting.

      @@ussexeter4601 and who said they had to reach the beatles? The Hollies are The Hollies period.

    • @ussexeter4601
      @ussexeter4601 6 років тому +1

      @Femai You’re right the Hollies didn’t have to reach the Beatles, however I was replying to the original thread which stated the Hollies were better than the Beatles which they weren’t.

    • @femaibenrigiel7958
      @femaibenrigiel7958 6 років тому +2

      Excuse me... but The Beatles never reched the hits the Hollies had in the UK. One thing that played against the Hollies was that they did not like very much the USA( but Nash)... said by themselves in interviews.

    Allan Clarke (thinks): Christ... was he (Graham Nash) always _this_ American? ;)

    • @realdiamondshow
      @realdiamondshow 5 років тому +1

      Nash has lived in America since the late 60's...hearing Americans speak in that accent, every day... More that half of his life. I am sure Clarke doesn't think it's odd at all for Graham to talk like he does.

    The Hollies for me is Tony Hicks. He is unique... A real Hollie even now. It seems that The Hollies are only about Nash and Clarke... and that´s no true at all.

    • @realdiamondshow
      @realdiamondshow 5 років тому +1

      Nash & Clarke started the Hollies...having been friends since they were 6 years old...and like Lennon & McCartney were the significant Beatles, they ARE the Hollies...moreso than Tony Hicks.
