Gear to Never Leave Your Driveway Without When Towing Your Boat

Are you prepared to risk a day on the water being completely ruined by not knowing what to load in your truck or SUV every time you trailer your boat? The good news is you don't have to be a mechanic. A few weeks back I blew a bearing on a 950 mile trip to my home waters of Cape Canaveral/Merritt Island because I skipped my annual trailer maintenance in 2018 and again in 2019 which was very poor judgement on my part. Even if I didn't know how to fix the problem because I had these items with me roadside assistance was easily able to do all the work for me in about 20 minutes at a cost of $0. Had I called roadside assistance without these items they would have been unable to help me or tow my boat which would have been a potentially bad situation.
Below is my list but you need to know what kind of axle(s) you have (torsion or leaf spring), what hub or bearing kit fits your boat's axle spindle, and how heavy your boat is to get this right for your application.
1) Heavy Duty 14" Universal Lug Wrench - $17 - $25
2) Floor Jack - 2 ton or more depending on your boat weight - $35+
3) 6" x 6" x 18" wooden block (scrap wood)
4) C.E. Smith Galvanized Trailer Hub Kit (P/N13515) $50 OR Smith Trailer Wheel Bearing Kit (P/N 27115) $15 - this fits Tie Down Engineering #3500 torsion axles on my Magic Tilt
5) Pistol Grip Grease Gun (w/Marine Grade Waterproof Grease) - $30-35
