Thank you all for your comments and sorry for those who say I am not clear and going too fast. This weekend a new tutorial lesson for how to play the how long blues. Probably it will be recorded into several lessons. Stay swinging & boogie on :)
Great tutorial dude! Thanks for posting :)
NSA Public Relations Dept. Thanks! I am glad it helped out!
Eeco Rijken Rapp njj
Eeco Rijken Rapp thank you thank you for showing me what you can do I will always try and remember that and practice at least twice a day
Eeco Rijken Rapp
Blew my mind, that was so cool!
Philippe, Merci , cette leçon est super ! J'adore le boogie woogie ...C adorable 🎼🎶🎵🎹 Felicitations au professeur..
I used the youtube speed control and played it back half speed, no problem I do that on many tutorials. You play really well.
That’s a good tip and thank you for the kind words! ☺️🎵🎹👍
Thanks for sharing this great music and teaching everyone.
can u reply ?
ive been looking for a video with this pattern for like several hours and i finally found it... thank you so much!
Thank you !
Excellent. Keep shufflin' and scufflin"...
Splendid!
I teach mostly adults and I don't use books when I give lessons. I use what they know and from there I tried to learn where they want to go..for example learn a boogie left hand or a boogie song for example.
Wow, I have come a long way, I remember watching this video 3 years ago..
Same here
The learner, myself, learns more from understanding what goes wrong, than what is good. Wonderful how you contrast common mistakes ( such as not swinging ) with better form.
A lesser teacher would show only good form, and the student would go shed and come back, and the lesser teacher would say, "you made this error." And the cycle would go on forever until the student exhausted all poor techniques.
Your video shows the learning student what to avoid, at the outset.
Wonderful teaching technique.
Thank you, Pat I was first curious because your name sounds familiar. I'm glad though you enjoyed the video and my lesson method. Take care, Eeco
YOU ARE SOOOOOOO GOOD-THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
VERDE VALLEY you're so welcome! 😁
Wish I could make it swing like you do. Chapeau!
Just thought you should know that this is really helping people. I notice that your hand is very much without unnecessary tension. I’m striving for that. Also, I actually like that you play it at full tempo with swing eighth notes and accenting the backbeats. I’ll slow it down with the YT cog wheel if need be.
I was wondering what key you played in the song “coming to the back door” I can’t get enough of it, it’s amazing
It’s in A-flat and I just posted a piano tutorial of it 😊
@@eecorr thank you Eeco!
Very good!!!! I will try to learn this...!!!!
Very simple and helpful. Thanks!
I've been playing a long time, but you've taught me a new twist. Thanks.
thanks for the easy lesson on the boogie woogie felt hand will try it out.
Ilke this ,Imean iknow this not like you .iplay by ear ,now Iwant to learn the ral bougie woogie ,thank you great player and teacher !!
Thank you so much for this tutorial
Thanks very much Eeco, your lessons are awesome like your playing.
Hope you will have time to post more in the future.
regards Greg (Australia)
A big thanks to you!! I have wanted to learn different variations and your teaching ability is excellent. You play it in real time AND you slow it down. I will subscribe to you.
Excellent!
Eeco, you are a very good piano player
Great instruction and had what I was looking for.
I love learning how to play different versions with my left hand with the knowledge I have bringing in my right.
Very helpful Eeco....thank you!
You're very welcome Ken!
show me more!! Haha ; )
Ragtime
Großartig, ich habe bloß keine Ahnung, wie man das in nur einem Menschenleben so perfekt lernen kann.
Ich würde Knoten in den Fingern bekommen, höre es aber total gerne.
Thanks! Finally found the pattern I had been looking for about 6 months. The one that's on the 4th min in the video. Cannot complain my right hand would be in bad shape, but still it is kinda hard to put it together with the left hand's pattern. A new challenge!
Jurģis Jurkāns You’re welcome and I hope you can improve yourself. Remember...take the time you need. “If you can’t play something, slow it down” ☺️ Have a nice weekend !
Yo Eeco, that's good Stuff. THX
The left hand's rhythm is the 'engine of the song'. That is a great way of explaining it and is one of those 'key' phrases for me. Yes, that's a good one right there.
I am at that stage right now ! Oh well, I'll just keep on with the practice , so that's enough from me. Thanks for your advice Eeco, and Happy New Year 2017 !
+MungoidHen Happy new year too and thank you for your kind words ☺️👍 I appreciate it
Eeco Rijken Rapp ...You're welcome. You deserve them. I am guessing you're obviously a Very good musician and I am Impressed !
Thank You for passing on the joy. I am new to the piano and have been fumbling around with-OUT much progress ! but practicing different scales seems to be where I'm at, right now anyway. And these uploads help, so yeah, Thank You. = )
+MungoidHen That's nice to hear your story and where you are. I'm glad my Videos help. Keep up the good work and hope to hear something from you in future time,
Eeco
I love the way you teach. Don't worry about the nay Sayers, they would fuss and moan if you hung them with a new rope . I intend to follow you as far as I can and your style is so easy that have learned a lot of the left hand already, not mastered it yet but it's so much fun working on it. The best I have found on the web. Keep up the good work and may god bless..
Thank you Jerry for your kind words and I know..everyone has their own way of learning it. I am just giving my point of view
thanks a lot master for this exellant less....and as my uncle from Amersfoort says always back to the basic...I will play in Hollande for Mr Aris Takes show in february and it would be great to meet you(mayby Im gonna play there for the boogie woogie festival too in march)....your fan RAFFI
I've been playing badly for ages and only now I realise why....thanks dude
Thanks Andy!
Thank you!
Just great :)
+Francisco Carvalho thanks !
Nice demo, very helpful. 3:02 Interersting how that dissonant semitone interval works so well in that situation.
Great!!
We need right hand to go with the left ,sounding good ,Ican play this !!
This is an excellent video! Thank you so much for posting with closeup and the connection you referenced to some of the famous songs. Jimmy Yancey in E-flat & A-flat is not surprising, but was new for me and a breakthrough in understanding. Thanks again!:)
A good lesson but I wish he would stay on topic, it seems he jumps around. But a fun, excellent lesson for sure.
For people saying he is just showing off; if you're on a laptop you can just slow the speed of the video. Made it a lot easier for me to see what he is playing and how he is playing it.
I love your videos i am starting out on the Booge path, can you give me a massive tip on getting a solid left hand and independence PLEASE its a real struggle even though i practice for what seems hours THANKS
He's good
Das is bestimmt eine Gute Idee !! :)
Eeco
I Just needed to Know the Pace and What notes Make it Sounds good So Thanks
Please accept my apology. i figured it out and didn't reply with that. I'm very new here and truly enjoy your videos. i continue to view them and learn. thanks again
Hi Eeco....What a great video you have created...I once took a lesson with Erwin Helfer at a summer program in Elkins,WV and went home and practiced all winter...When I saw him the following summer I thought he would be very proud of me but after playing a piece for him he said, "I won't be able to do anything for you until you start using the right fingers"....LOL
Now that I have discovered your video.. I will get it right this time.
THANK YOU ! W.D. Dailey
Awesome
beggin4mercy thank you!
+Eeco Rijken Rapp Sorry for my question. I doń,t know english enough well but ... IF i try play with my left hand fast like you on this video, after about 1 min i feel pain in my forearm. For begin is a little pain but after next 30 seconds my arm cannot hołd this tempo. And now is my question. 1. It,s normall reaction IF i didn,t play before like this. My beginning with boogie style will be painfull but with time my arm will be more strenght and can hold this tempo (or faster) for very long time. 2. I feel pain in my left forearm cause i do something wrong and i need to teach my left hand how to play fast but without tired.
What option is correct?
@detlingyes dear john, Im pleased to hear this..keep those ivory's flowing :)
@npronpro its always my pleasure..enjoy it
Eeco
Know this ,need the right hand slowed down .thank you
@alexandra416 Dear alexandrea, I teach mostly adults..and Im not using any particular book. Im giving lesson in a way that my students understand what they do wrong, learn from their mistakes but moslty have fun with learning.
Eeco
It would be great to be shown which note you’re actually hitting and with which fingers, even with the speed way down it’s still hard to distinguish how you’re playing the patterns. Thanks.
Yes the new videos are better I know. These were old videos where I started to post tutorial videos ☺️
thanks. :)
eeco, I have been following your tutorials for quite some time. I'm trying to learn the left hand the Boogie Woogie Stomp. my left hand interpretation is exactly like yours. it is a true representation? I've noticed some interpretations add the E natural. once again thank you for your fantastic tutorials.
Yes there are many different ways to play a left hand boogie and thank you for your kind words
wow thanks for responding so quickly. I use the voice interface on my phone so maybe I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I was only thinking about the Boogie Woogie Stomp. is that the fourth note is sometimes including an e natural. is that your interpretation or do you leave it out? once again thank you in advance
+herodog1 I play the E with the Boogie Woogie stomp and that's how I learned it from my piano teacher. I suggest play the way you feel the most comfortable with ☺️
@pianogreg100 Thank you greg, Im glad you like it :)
:D great video, thx
You're welcome ! :)
Greetings!
What woud be the proper fingering on the left hand "chop" in C,
to add the dominant 7 (Bb). I have be using My #2 (forefinger)
on My left hand.
Thank You
With Blues the #2 would be the perfect stretch but when I play it I use the thumb but again, if the #2 is comfortable for you then keep playing it your way 😄💪🏽
Dear Eeco:
I am f/t Ph.D. in music student at York University and currently my research interest lies in multicultural & contemporary piano teaching of children (ages 3-13). I would like to ask you about your methods of boogie woogie piano teaching and which books/publications you use in your piano teaching. Do you mostly teach adults or children or both?
You can hear left hand boogie woogie piano lines in the bass and rhythm guitar parts of rock and roll. sometimes without the swing though.
Your welcome :)
many thanks very useful any chance of you doing some slow lh rh co0ordination regards john
Love it, dude. I can play it as fast as you. ;)You have handsome piano fingers.
:) haha thats nice to hear ...how is it going now ...any progress ?
Eeco
Is the last one used in shout for joy?
triplets baby !
Can you tell me what's that music in the intro? Cool Video :D
On the stomp/6th ave pattern, is it common to leave the last B+D on the 10th bar when moving from G back to C?
Boogie woogie Existem muitas variações
Iv always played this left hand ,wher is the right hand slow ,thank you so much ,im ordernthe dvd
I'm a beginner. This video was a little to fast for me.
You might need to see the notes on the baseline. See them and listen by the measure. Practice it till you get the muscle memory and speed it up. then go to the next bar and do the same. learn to read the notes and play bar by bar until you can do it without thinking. You will see the pattern for it always repeats. It is much the same for both left and right hand. You will get where you recognize runs, arpeggios, octaves, and grace notes. A good teacher is quite a help. Good luck to you for I love to play but I learned best with a good teacher. It is worth it.
Hang in there.
Can you actually play the piano yet? Because starting out with this level of music isn't a very good idea.
@@kennethwood88 i started out with a low level of music and i learned a boogie i know to riffs and i made a full boogie out of it. Im learning more riffs and improvisong currently. It is possible if you take the time!
@@Aidancordell I wasn't talking to you. I was replying to Jim's comment 🙄 God Damn. I already have the program from Terry Miles 😋
Hi. I am just a beginner, but that is lots of fun too. I really am enjoying your videos more than any other rag-time or boogie woogie master. I think it may prove important to me to copy your fingerings as closely as possible, but something seems a bit strange to me, in that by the middle of this lesson I notice that you are using your thumb double-duty on the 2nd two examples.
What I mean is, by the time you include the Eb +E in your bass roll, & come back down to finish the C chord, you hit with your thumb twice.
The very same thing happens in the next example when you strike the Eb +A series & come back down to finish it--you use your thumb twice, again, rather than arrange some other fingering. Of course when you do it, there is absolutely no rhythm lag or such. But I can't help but wonder if this is something which came easily to you. Or what? Who could say what Albert Ammons used?
Look, maybe it is not important, but, you know we beginners are only afraid of learning bad habits, & re-inforcing them as we practice.
I beg your pardon for the long post, & I realize that eventually I will be able to use my own fingerings if they are more comfortable. Another thing we beginners fear is just bunching up our fingers so that we can't ever keep the rhythm nice....I am reminded of that book by Peter Sylverster: He had a left hand like God. ♥Alan*
@MsGREGORIAN Hi Raffi, Im glad your improving by watching your video's. I hope we can meet in February. Do you know wich date you will be playing?
Eeco
very great thank u, could u please advice me a great boogie sheet to play as a begiining plzz ( not so easy and not sooo hard :D )
If you had played that slowly at first i might have learned it beginner.
It's easy
Use your ears. Learning improves with the ears
As a piano player, your one of the greatest I've ever heard. As an instructor, a teacher your not worth a shit. You've slowed down just a little, but your still way to fast. It's like your saying look how good & fast I am.
I never said in any video how good I am but I appreciate your honesty
Great tutorial, but of course not minded for the beginner of base patterns or the piano
I can play the first riff perfectly but it just always sounds better when someone else plays it or maybe it's just my piano
got that too. I think its because of my piano but it maybe also because youre concentrating. I mean I enjoy music more when listening then when Im playing
What kind of piano do you have ?
geniusssss
Pol Table thanks ☺️
Thank you master !!
Please, do you think, that is bad, if I using in swanee patern thumb instead of forefinger?
You should play what feels comfortable to you 😌
I can do that no worries, it's just getting my right hand to join in at the same time, I can do either hand by itself great, just stupid left hand requiring so much concentration to do both at the same time lol :(
A swinging left hand.
It show ls that your skill is high .
Really i am practising two months, but i can't play with both hands.i always confuse and mix them. Can an by dy give me an advice?
Practice at a much slower speed & just bounce a chord on right while doing this with the hand.
sorry to be so dumb but I'd love a clear text list of what notes. Because I don't follow watching the fingers easily especially at speed and you confuse me when you begin and say you're going to do CGCGC and then immediately start using A !
It wouldn't hurt to just write them short lines in the comments - what the notes are - would it?
cool, of course beginners should start with,, in c7,,,, play c all four beats with pinky, and alternate between g and a, with g with index finger and a with thumb,, g on first beat and a on second beat, etc don't know if you said that
When I look at the sheet music the left hand pattern for boogie woogie stomp implies the root is played on every 8th beat. Is this some notational thing I'm missing or what?
Holy fuck I'm here sitting here watching this is in the middle of the night, and cartoons are playing in the back, and in the cartoon they did the same fucking melody you just made lmao
Slow wayyy down plsss
How about the right to go with the left.
Just play the video slower (0.75x the speed), and it is easier to follow. But the sound will be bit off.
u
My tuts piano not responsive thanks for simple tutorial for beginer blues piano
Be vert slow pleaseeee
Muy bueno, pero hágalo un poco más lento para poder cogerla bien
I'm sorry I was wrong you actually played C.C.E.C.G.C.A.G.C.
cant u name the keys u press one by one , b4 u play , very hard to see , cos u play very fast
Slower please in places.....
You are doing fine. No apologies needed, If you are going too fast, then the student needs to practice some more. IMHOMF
