I bought one of these also from Amazon and love it. I followed the instructions and used Orval's white corn and it worked on my micro wave with the popcorn setting. It worked better and beyond expected. It's great and I recommend it.

I, too, use this Salbree Popcorn Popper and love it. For the record, you can definitely add oil or butter for flavoring before popping. My recipe is is 3 Tbs of good popping corn (I use Pop Secret) and 2 Tbs. of oil, butter or a combination of both, and 1/2 tsp of popcorn salt. The salt will dissolve almost instantly in the oil for uniform coating of the popcorn.

I love mine too, works great! I do add 1 tablespoon coconut oil to bowl, then 1/4 cup (Orville R) popcorn, salt, and sometimes a generous sprinkling of garlic powder, before microwaving. I get more kernals that don't pop than he does, but probably need to experiment with the microwave temp. I never liked microwave popcorn until I tried this.

I ordered one from Amazon, and it got here today. So I made some popcorn and it came out awesome. I too would highly recommend this product. You are not supposed to put butter or seasoning in the bowl while cooking, it could start a fire or damage your popcorn maker.

We mix well together the popcorn kernels, quite a large amount of Wabash theater coconut oil (the yellow stuff), with some Gold Medal Flavacol "better buttery" salt (if too solid to mix up, melt for 30 seconds or so in microwave) and put it in our microwave (inverter high powered), until there is a good full 2 seconds between pops (but no longer. About 3:15 for us) and it turns out perfect. Just like theatre popcorn! Not even close to catching fire or burning! Our popcorn popper bowls (We got 3! Lol) are the housewares brand, from Amazon & are pretty much the same as the video. (Actually, we bought everything on Amazon. Lol)

I love this way to pop corn. I do like Reddinbacker)spell check)I put popped corn in a big giant stainless mixing bowl spray it with olive oil to be somewhat healthy(is pretty close to butter) or drizzle butter and what ever seasoning in it .Cover with same size bowl and shake to distribute. Doing this after popping doesn't make it soft. I always change up experimenting with garlic salt or grated cheese.Enjoy! Oh yeah another thing that works unrelated to this but take the two stainless mixing bowl and but your fresh garlic cloves in it. Shake the crap out of it like you're trying to beat them to death. And most of the shell comes off the garlic.

It's probably your microwave. Try at a friend's house or another microwave. If it's a really old microwave it could be it too. Microwaves lose power (effectiveness) as they age.
