- The San Diego State University Aztecs will officially join the Pac-12 Conference on July 1, 2026, the school announced Thursday.
The Aztecs will join current members Oregon State and Washington State along with the newest members of the league, Boise State, Colorado State and Fresno State, according to a statement from SDSU.

As a former student at SDSU and a graduate of Wazzu, I am ecstatic. Aztecs have deserved this for a long time. Deep down inside many of us believed this was inevitable. Congrats Aztecs. Go Cougs.
I felt the pac12 was dumb to not add them years ago, just to stabilize the conference if SC and.or UCLA (money grubbers) bolted. I am also glad the pac12 will still be alive. This is great.
Welcome Aztecs! It was great hearing the reasoning behind the move and seeing your excitement. Taking only 4 from the MWC is respectful despite how the other MWC members may feel right now. It still keeps them at 8 for now and won't have to disband while giving nearly two years to replace them.

Wow. Turning down a 1/2 Big12 pay check for 100% Pac12 is crazy.
Not sure that ever happened as I think both big10 and big12 have stated no more additions. But even if true, good for them, its about time a school thinks of its fans and teams over the almighty dollar for a change.

Us PAC loyalists and the PAC 2 is beyond elation in welcoming the Aztecs of San Diego State University to the family and the rebuilding of the storied Conference of Champions. I can’t think of a better destination roadtrip than San Diego. SDSU - You are the marquee! Go Cougs!
And Fresno is in which is good for us as they go way back with us and it's good for us old guys.
So the PAC12 went from a P5 conference with 10 AAU schools, to a G5 conference having 0? Forgive me, but I don't see how this is an upgrade...I guess it'll be the best "Group of 6" conference...
This will be a fun conference to watch.
This rebuilt PAC will grow into its shoes. Just as the American Football League did and just like the American Basketball league did. Western sports deserve a home. A great history and tradition.

That's been happening to all of the group of 5 conferences too
They've been losing teams to the now 4 major conferences.
And to other group of 5 conferences too.
The only group of 5 conference that hasn't really changed is the MAC.
If it gets 2 more it will be eliglble for the playoffs. Liberty played in a Group of 6 bowl last year against oregon.

GREAT MOVE! There are ONLY positives to joining a re-built PAC12 with top tier teams. This will be a BIG step forward. Basketball, Football, Baseball, Volleyball and 12 other sports will benefit.

Bwaaaahahaha these people actually believe this is going to be a Power conference with an autobid. They’ll have to add 4 more teams to get to 10, as 8 is not really viable. The CW/Prime media contract will be < $10m per team. This AD is an absolute idiot.
These 4 schools have determined this is the best possible solution for them at this time. It is a gamble. I wish them well. I am grateful BYU is not in this predicament.

It's not a Power Conference, despite its name. But, sure, better than traveling to Wyoming.
Its not done adding yet. And Boise in Football and SDSU in hoops can go up against almost any program the last 10-15 years.
Hopefully San Diego state can put some people in the stadium. Most games I’ve watched y’all got a half Empty stadium.. Good luck with that.. Pac will be group of 6 no way you can compete with Teams like that💯🤣
You will have to see it I'm person, they made the stadium for people to walk around and visit while still watching the game. Looks bad on TV, but there are alot more people doing something out of their seats then any other stadium I have ever been to and I have been to many.
Long Live the PAC 5:52 considering the exit fees the former PAC12 schools paid to leave, yes the PAC12 should assist the new schools I covering their exit fees because ultimately you're 2 teams away from reaching the status of a P5 program and that's the ultimate goal.

Of course . All the big money left. The conference will rebuild successfully. But no one has USC, UCLA, Stanford and Cal money. I personally believe they’ll come home and the PAC will be the super conference.

First of all, I believe they will continue to add institutions! UNLV and SMU have been mentioned. It also makes sense for Stanford and Cal to come back into the fold for economic reasons. Then the league will be a very viable television market nationally which is where all the money is. It will definitely be a POWER-5

As a Fresno State fan, I believe that UNLV will be the next PAC-12 team. They are actually adding these schools in pairs. UNLV will be paired with SMU in my opinion.
I live in Las Vegas. It will happen. And, I am happy about that. I do hate seeing the MWC come apart. I had season tickets at Air Force for 20 years and it is great football. I would have preferred a merge as opposed to a selection.
The issue with adding UNLV is Reno.
